Some thoughtful considerations from Moonhowlings regarding the Honorable Mr. Corey Stewart’s announcement today at 1:30 about  his re-election plans:

So who is going down to the McCoart Building at 1:30 and ask Corey to sign the pledge that if elected as chairman again, he will not run for another office midterm?

Will he keep that pledge as well as he kept his pledge to protect the rural crescent?

PWC residents need to remember that special elections to replace him are expensive and would be for the entire county, not just a magisterial district. Also, who wants their chairman tending to business other than county business.

Later on down the road we can discuss land use, developers and their campaign contributions, the Grizzlies, the rural crescent, the mischaracterization of the UVA report, blatherings about denying medicaid, and sending out his colleagues’ private emails regarding a high ranked county employee (think police chief) to a local blogger.

Today, let’s just concentrate on his level of commitment to the county. The question becomes, Mr. Stewart, if you  are  priviledged enough to be  re-elected, will you serve your 4 year term?

That is the commitment Corey must make if the electorate of Prince William County is to vote him for another term.

Corey, you need to address this issue. We aren’t your stepping stone.  What are your intentions?

The citizens of this county deserve the answer to this question.

  1. Vigilant Vulture

Chairman Stewart couldn’t honor a pledge to the people of Prince William, if his life depended on it. He will just lie as he has done for the past five years.

  2. He needs to be held accountable to that one question.

First he was going to run for state office. Then he was going to run for US Senate.

What will he think of next.

There are 4 contenders: Mr. Weir(R), Mr. Gray(I), Mr. Friedman(D) and Mr. Lateef(D)

Chairman Stewart is going to find that immigraton might not be the pony to be riding through town. Additionally, land use might just spring up and bite his hind parts.

Corey’s announcement made me burst into song
    Dedicated to the Rural Crescent

To the tune of Cee-Lo Green’s “F@#$ you” more commonly known as “Forget You”

I see you drivin’ round town with developers
And I’m like forget you(uh uh uh)
I guess the change in our pockets wasn’t enough
I’m like, forget you and forget Wally too

Yeah I’m sorry, we can’t afford to buy your vote-ari
But that don’t mean we can’t get you there
I guess immigration’s an Xbox and the Crescent’s an Atari
(hmmm)But the way you play your game ain’t fair

I pity the fool that falls in love with you
(Lubeley’s golddiggin’, just thought you should know it)
(uhhuuu)We’ve got some news for you
Yeah, go run and tell your little supervisor friend

I see you drivin’ round town with developers
And I’m like, forget you(uh uh uh)
I guess the change in our pockets wasn’t enough
I’m like, forget you and forget Wally too

    Said,
if we was richer, we’d still be with you
Now ain’t that some sh…(ain’t that some sh…)
And although there’s bite outa my crescent
I wish you the best with a forget you(uh uh uhhh huh)

    Now baby, baby, baby
Why’d you wanna, wanna hurt us so bad?(so bad?)
I tried to tell the Grizzlies but they told me:
“We were bought for and paid”

    Yeah, they did
    Uh, why? Ugh, why?
Ugh, why baby? Oh, I love you!
    I still love you, ooh…

I see you drivin’ round town with developers
And I’m like, forget you (forget you huhh yeahh)
I guess the change in our pockets wasn’t enough
I’m like, forget you and forget Wally too

    Said,
if we was richer, we’d still be with you
Ha, now ain’t that some sh…(ain’t that some sh…)
And although there’s a bite outa my crescent
I wish you the best with a forget you(uh uh uhhh)

I can’t stop shaking my head at Mrs. Caddigan’s quote regarding Corey. This is the same woman that called him out for “inviting” all of these people, and give them their 3 minutes. Looks like Corey & Caddigan have “kissed and made up”. She’s complained about him plenty over the past five years. Way to stick together PWC R’s. Glad I’m an Independent.
From the WaPo’s coverage of Corey’s “big announcement”.

@Laf – and to think Mrs. C spearheaded the Republican women for Pandak not that long ago.

  8. The song was funny. 🙂 +1

UFB!! I had forgotten about that one. Thanks for the reminder.

Actually, the Oscar goes to Maureen Caddigan for a fine acting job. How soon did she barf after that performance?

  12. Good job Anon. Now for the bad news. Please choose a moniker for future posts. A song such as that deserves a real name……fake or otherwise.

Seriously, once we get anons going, everyone does it and then everyone looks the same. Any name is fine. As you can tell, the choices are endless (and sometimes tasteless)

  13. Forget You

I shall now and forever be called “Forget You” in honor of the song that was playing in my car when I opened my mailbox this afternoon and found Corey’s fundraising letter.

What is wrong with running for Chairman without ruling out running for a higher office? I would hope everyone in the workforce is interested in their continued career choices.

    1. Corey is free to run for office after he serves his term. If he knows he is going to run for Senate which is in 2012, then he needs to just sit it out. Who wants your chairman giving the job half attention because he is running for another office? We aren’t a stepping stone.

He needs to consider running for office for chairman a 4 year commitment, sort of like many of us would have to do if we were in a contract. A person doesn’t sign a contract knowing they are going to be applying for a new job in a few months. It just isn’t ethical.

Why should the taxpayers of Prince William County foot the bill for Corey Stewart’s ambitions. Special elections have a price tag also.

    Cheer! Excellent choice!

I am sure you ran right out to the post office and made a donation….bwahahahahahahahaha NOT!!!

  16. Elena

I love Forget You as your new name!

Clueless, if you were hiring someone for a job, and you were going to invest precious resources, but that person told you, in advance, they would be leaving your company for something “better”, would you still hire them? Doubtfully, in fact, if you were running a business, and you had the choice between an employee who was going to only be there a short time, leaving you to have to search for a replacement, guarantee, you would go with the person who had no predetermined intention of leaving you high and dry.

  17. Scout

As best I can perceive, Mr. Stewart does not want to be Chairman of the BCS any more than I do (and I really don’t). I think he has concluded, however, that he just has no realistic options in a life that, in his view, can only be built around striving for office. As soon as (and if) another option presents itself, my guess is he’ll be off in that direction.

  18. Elena

    Scout,
Is your feeling from some personal experience in PWC? 🙂

  19. Lafayette

    @Forget You
My teenager that has just played the song and sang your version. She really enjoyed it too. Not to mention she’d not read it before singing it, and some parts she could hardly do for laughing at your version. I think it’s inspired her to make a video using your words. This should be good. Thanks again for the laughs. 🙂
She pays attention to local politics and understands the humor.

    @Elena
    Elena,

I agree with you and his other employment opportunities will influence my vote, a more important influence will be his pro-development decisions. I do not begrudge him for wanting to promote, many politicians do. If I had known that our past Chairman was going to move on I still would have voted for him.

  21. Elena

I begrudge Corey for not really giving a crap about anything but his self serving interests. Call me an idealist, but I simply cannot fathom those who go into public service and then do nothing to “serve” the public. I really thought, in the beginning, that Corey was different, and maybe he was, maybe power went to his head, I don’t know. But there was a time I thought he just needed time to grow into his own, but now I realize, looking back, he really had no interest in public policy as it related to the good of the community, he only “used” issues to promote his own desire for “stardom”. At one time I would have considered Corey a friend, that time is long gone.

  22. Scout

Clueless: you make a good point. The problem is not that some of these types want or deserve advancement. The issue is their motivation to be in politics in the first instance. Since you mention Stewart’s predecessor, it’s worth noting that Connaughton conveyed a passion and enthusiasm about changing the County and its image for the better, and, during his tenure, a lot of good things happened. With Stewart my perception of the outward signs of motivation have been finding an issue to ride, even if the issues had to be hyped in ways that made the County look worse.

  23. However, if its exposure you want, for good or bad, Corey’s your man. He has an inside track to Faux News. Its that one pony show that bothers me. Illegals Illegals!

Since he has been on Faux News time after time, have you ever heard him mention the sesquicentennial? He could have even said he wanted to get Carlos Martinelly off the road so it would be safe for the millions of visitors flocking to our county for the sesquicentennial. But you didn’t hear that.

He wants to be re-elected. He obviously forgot about advancing the county during that golden opportunity in front of the nation’s cameras.
