Since when was ‘human life begins at conception’ implanted into the Virginia curriculum? Didn’t see that one coming.
More to the point, Bob ‘Sideshow’ Marshall is shown comparing scientists who conduct and study stem cell research to Nazi war criminals during WWII. Bobby, that is just too cultural warrior for the floor of the General Assembly. No, he didn’t say the words but he painted the picture. You might want to ask your local, state and national legislators if they support Sideshow’s proposed ban on stem cell research.
I would suggest Mr. Marshall visit the Holocaust Museum so he can see the pictures of little gypsy boys with their penis’s and testicles removed just for fun. Or how about toddler twins, sewn together to see if the Nazi doctors could recreate siamese twins only to suffer an agonizing slow death from infection. I am so offended it is beyond belief. What an ignoramous.
Sweet! He is just a TART!
Does he support Familial DNA too?
Familial DNA TESTING to catch a POTENTIAL criminal that is INNOCENT until PROVEN guilty IN A COURT OF LAW….. to Clarify 😉

“Genetic testing may soon be available on an unprecedented scale, presenting at the same time both powerful opportunities and perplexing decisions. As individuals and citizens, we must be sure that each of us gets the information needed to deal with these decisions and to develop policies that protect people from suffering political consequences from the very makeup of their beings. “
Oh hell..what’s one more post…good night! 😉 lol

I may be compelled to get some factual information to Bob Marshall I am so livid with his audacity to suggest a stem cell is the same as what the monstors of Nazi’s did to innocent children, men, and women. He is shameful.
@Raymond
It would not be good for me to come to that meeting. I would be unable to not lose my temper.
I feel your pain M-H, it would be very difficult for me too. But Bob really needs to be schooled on the actual events of the Holocaust and monstors like Mengele.
Isn’t stem cell testing on cells and not embryos?
Well, just had a wonderful conversation with Bob Marshall……NOT. I can’t tell you how many times he attempted to change the subject from his misappropriation of the monstor “doctors” of the Holocaust. Didn’t work though, and he would never admit that the use of the Holocaust for his political and social agenda was inappropriate. I asked him if he was not paying attention to the media discussion about not using the mantle of the Holocaust to gain political points. I said he either he wasn’t aware, which I doubted, he is politically savvy, or that he just believed he was so special those ethical constraints did not apply to him.
Awhile ago, someone on this blog posted that there is an actual theory that for every atrocity, someone, somewhere, will compare it to the Holocaust. (Wish I could find that post.) I think Hitler and the Holocaust has become part of our linguistic culture, for better or for worse. I am sorry, Elena, that it upsets you. You sound pained, and I don’t like that. I hope you understand the spirit in which I say the following.
Our family has been watching a slew of old Hogan’s Heroes episodes. It makes fun of Germans, Nazis, etc. and avoids any mention of the Holocaust. I also recently watched a clip from History of the World regarding the Spanish Inquisition. And then, of course, there is “No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!” (which has a pretty funny torture scene involving an old lady, a comfy chair and a feather).
My brother asked a poignant question: at what point in history does an atrocity become okay to use in conjunction with humor. I don’t have the answer to that, but I can say with confidence that the Holocaust has been used in almost every genre of art as well as in political rhetoric, literature, partisan indoctrination, media, humor, entertainment, etc. Marshall is not the first and will not be the last.
No, he is not the first or last, but given the recent discussion about not using Nazism or the Holocaust in an event that does not, even remotely, replicate the gravity, on that can be agree upon by most people, than you should not use the term. It’s not complicated in my opinion. The genocide in Rwanda was clear genocide, if one uses that terminology, most informed people would probably agree. It is not a “politically” charged issue like, well, abortion, stem cell research etc.
Charlie Chaplin did a very brave movie and made fun of Hitler, it was fabulous, but the ending was incredibly brave and not humerous.
Pinko,
These are two clips from the “The Great Dictator”, one funny and the final serious ending.

Dr. Jasser, in my opinion, is very impressive. Mrs. jackson Lee was unimpressive as was Ms. Sanchez. Lots of grandstanding.
@Moon-howler
Yeah, Moon, agree with you about temper. I was looking at the list and still debating if I shall be going….and if it is the usual where the various panel members have a table, about the only one I could sit with and enjoy eating is George Barker. At least he is very personable.
And I would ask to sit with you Raymond, if I went. That would be tough.
Oh lordy…must be the rain…LOL! I just read my previous comment and started laughing!
“could sit with and enjoy eating is George Barker”. Read it too quick and I almost sound like Hannibal Lecter! LOL!
And I just read what I wrote. Let me correct. It wouldn’t be tough sitting with you. Going in the first place would be tough.
@Posting as Pinko
From Wikipedia
Godwin’s law (also known as Godwin’s Rule of Nazi Analogies or Godwin’s Law of Nazi Analogies) is a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990[2] which has become an Internet adage.
It states: “As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1.”[
In other words, Godwin put forth the hyperbolic observation that, given enough time, in any online discussion—regardless of topic or scope— someone inevitably criticizes some point made in the discussion by comparing it to beliefs held by Hitler and the Nazis.
Godwin’s law is often cited in online discussions as a deterrent against the use of arguments in the widespread Reductio ad Hitlerum form. The rule does not make any statement about whether any particular reference or comparison to Adolf Hitler or the Nazis might be appropriate, but only asserts that the likelihood of such a reference or comparison arising increases as the discussion progresses. It is precisely because such a comparison or reference may sometimes be appropriate, Godwin has argued that overuse of Nazi and Hitler comparisons should be avoided, because it robs the valid comparisons of their impact.
Thanks Cargo.
While Elena was on the phone, Marshall attempted to deflect her criticism of him using the Holocaust to hang his dislike of stem cell on. This ploy is typical of politicians.
Funny RB! Will you be taking some Favvvvaa beans with you 😉
Moon,
Actually, that may have been when he accused me of disliking Catholics, to which I replied, ” I was not aware you were Catholic, nor do I care if you are Catholic, and this discussion is NOT about your religion, it about YOUR behavior and misuse of the atrocities of the Holocaust for your personal political and social agenda” . I will add, more than once he attempted to divert the conversation from his inappropriate analogy and I would continue to tell him that this was about his behavior and nothing else, even when he tried to throw in some issue about muslim extremism.
Now what did muslim extremism possibly have to do with what you are discussing? Oh..I got it…he had been reading the blog. caught caught caught!!! @Elena
@Elena
As Lecter says, “I’m having a friend over for dinner.”
@Cargosquid
Thanks, Cargo! They say the memory is the first thing to go. Or is it the eyes? Or the ears? Hmmmmm….
@Elena
These are very good. I’ve never heard CC speak, never mind portray Hitler.
Marshall is a big member of All Saints Catholic Church in Manassas and does MUCH of his fundraising there.
I find it ironic that he accused you of disliking catholics. Marshall gets his orders from the Clergy at All Saints and the DC/NOVA Diocese, and in return they give him $$$$$. His policies are so chocked full up the arse with pre vatican 2 brimstone, apparantly he is afraid people can see through the veneer – hence his comment to you.
I can only hope that the people of Manassas can oust this thug theocrat who hides behind his church to act and legislate like an @sshole.
