The Giant Sequoia only exists one place on earth, in Northern California.  It is the largest tree on earth and quite picky about where it lives and grow.

These trees need fire to live and grow.  Fire clears out their underbrush and also helps open their cones so the seeds can escape. The bark on the trees contains tannin which is a natural fire preventative.

Every once in a while, its good to just sit back and let nature take over and rededicate ourselves to preserving the natural resources that we have.

Something a little less contentious…..

3 Thoughts to “When Fire is Good: A Sequoia Circle of Life”

unfortunately the enviro mental wackos don’t allow the underbrush to be culled, and thus when the inevitable forest fire comes along, the results are more devastating than would ordinarily be the case

  2. It is the policy of the park to allow some burning. You just can’t have out of control fires.

  3. Wish I could go see these miraculous giants. Loving that tree hugging stuff. 🙂
