It seems that Corey Stewart is still attempting to flirt with running for the U. S. Senate, according to the Richmond Times Dispatch. In an interview, Corey boasts that people either love him or hate him:

“I’ve been a very controversial figure, and people either love me or hate me,” said Stewart, 42.

The moment of blithe self-awareness followed a ceremonial announcement of his bid for re-election as at-large chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. Elected countywide, the position answers to more than 400,000 constituents.

But with political ambition to spare, Stewart, an affable international trade attorney and spirited conservative, has designs on higher office — a seat in the U.S. Senate.

Corey still doesn’t get it.  No one I have ever talked to hates Corey.  They dislike his style of governance–that fly by the seat of your pants way of saying one thing to one person and the opposite to the next person.  Corey has a reputation for breaking his word.  He signs pledges he does not keep when a better deal comes along, such as his sell out on the Avendale property.  His total disregard for previous pledges to guard the Rural Crescent was highlighted on this blog.   Most people who know Corey say he is affable and fun to be with.   Many who know him simply don’t trust him, having been screwed over in the past.

Corey Stewart continues to rest on his anti immigration laurels.  In the RTD interview, Corey drags out the old Help Save Manassas crowd and talks about the good old days when illegal immigration was in the forefront in Prince William County.

Filmmaker Eric Byler   of 9500 Liberty fame was also interviewed:

“He’s a sensitive man, and what’s important to his constituents is important to him,” Byler said. But he added that the issue presented a well-timed tool to help with Stewart’s re-election bid.

Byler, whose documentary paints Stewart’s effort as misguided, said there seemed to be little factual basis for the policy.

“To Corey, politics is about perceptions — what people believe — not necessarily about the facts,” he said.

Byler said he was not surprised when Stewart launched his Virginia Rule of Law campaign to spread Prince William’s policy across the state after the Arizona immigration debate.

“Corey knows that he has to be where the conversation is,” Byler said. “I think he feels most at home in a big angry circus, and he knows immigration will create that.”

Byler has always had a soft spot in his heart for Corey Stewart.  It seems that different people see Corey in different lights.  Is it because Corey presents the Corey he wants that person to see?

If Corey wants to win the chairman position in Prince William County he needs to give up the idea of running for the Senate.  Prince William County is not a testing ground  for a senate primary.  If he runs for chairman, he needs to devote his full time to the position, not run for another office.  Our county is not a stepping stone for someone’s political ambitions.   And when he loses, he should not have his PWC elected position to fall back on.

What does Corey Stewart offer to make him a shoe in for the PWC Board of Supervisors Chair?  What qualifications does he have to become a U.S. Senator?  Does Corey have delusions of grandeur?

(Who burned Corey in effigy?)

5 Thoughts to “Corey Stewart Still Flirts with Upcoming Senate Seat”

  1. I hate Corey’s politics. I don’t want to read anything he has to say because most of it is one big lie. Smile all you want, Stewart, you’re still political scum.

I don’t hate anyone as a person. If I did, I would want to kill Stewart.

Please make the distinction in this post, MH. There is a big difference between hating the human being and hating the politician.

  2. “He’s a sensitive man…” LMFAO! Yeah, okay. Ask the thousands of immigrants how “sensitive” Stewart was as he threw them and their supporters under a bus in 2007.

“…what’s important to his constituents is important to him.” Stewart publicly has no respect for people who disagree with him. He is an insult to thousands of his constituents. What is important is JUSTICE, Mr. Byler, and Stewart trounces on true justice. Don’t make any excuses for this man, please.

    1. Or Eric Finley who losts huge amounts of money–Or our vet friends who were checking out the Coffee Party and got accused of being fruits and nuts.

You don’t have to be an immigrant to get a little taste of Captain Sound-Byte, Mr. Sensitivity.

  3. Lafayette

I thougt this thread would be a hot topic. What happened? 🙄

  4. I guess everyone is bored with Corey. I mean, what’s to say at this point.

No one even comments. Perhaps Corey is a retread. He runs on tired topics.
