Huffingtonpost.com:

Glenn Beck set his sights on a new target on his Thursday show: “Glee.”

Speaking before a live studio audience, Beck said that “our whole culture is set up right now for you and the values we grew up with to lose.” He used “Glee” as an example.

“I’ve watched it in stunned horror combined with a sense of admiring awe,” he said. “It is a brilliant brilliant show…but it is a horror show…everybody in here is somebody your kids would want to be like, except everyone is sleeping with everyone else, it’s all about self-gratification…it’s a nightmare.”

However, he said the skill with which the show was made meant that “there is no way to beat this.

Is Glenn Beck nuts?  Glee is probably one of the most redeeming show there is about young people.  Is Beck naive?   He admits to watching 2 of the shows.  He needs to watch more before commenting.  In the first place, all the Glee kids aren’t beautiful.  They are talented.  Each person represents a demographic of typical high school.  Is there hyberpole?  Yes.  Perhaps the most exaggerated character is Sue Sylvester who is just meaner than a rattle snake.  We have all worked with such people–the person at work who is always trying to ‘get’ someone.

I have never watched Glee that it didn’t teach a strong lesson.   We aren’t going to learn lessons in shows like Pollyanna.  Glee is contemporary and explores current topics.  Beck really needs to get a life.  There is so much worse on TV that has half the talent.  He would bitch and cry if it starred Mother Teresa.

15 Thoughts to “Glenn Beck watches Glee in horror!”

mother teresa was hardly a saint; read “the missionary position” by christopher hitchens

  2. e

from wikipedia: the book criticizes Teresa as a political opportunist, who adopted the guise of a saint in order to raise money and spread an extreme religious ideology. Regarding his choice of the book’s title, Hitchens has said, “it was either that or Sacred Cow, and I thought Sacred Cow would be in bad taste.”

The only thing BETTER than Glenn Beck focusing on Glee is Moonhowlings focusing on Beck focusing on Glee. You’re on the right track! Don’t get distracted from this!

I LOVE that very modern TV console!

Have never watched Glee and, considering the noise
    in Beck’s example, I don’t think I’ll start now.

  5. TWINAD

Glee is a great show! And I agree, always a lesson, especially in tolerance, to be learned…something that seems to get by Beck again and again. But when you think about it, isn’t Glenn Beck a Sue Sylvester? Always bullying?

    @TWINAD
I couldn’t agree more!! I will always remember the episode when Kurt’s dad schooled Finn. That was incredible.

    Beck a Sue Sylvetser. LOL

  7. Totally agree, Twinad. Beck is a Sue Sylevester. Always going for something that will be self serving. I guess he was desperate for an enemy and chose Glee last week.

Glee is strong on teaching a moral lesson dealing with how to treat one’s fellow man, set in contemporary society. Beck must been confusing talent with ‘beautiful people. Isn’t that sort of the point? That everyone isn’t a beautirul person? Even the most talented people lacks self esteem, for example.

  8. Slow, actually the focus is on some other things that we aren’t discussing publically yet. Lots of behind the scenes things.

Do you think it is irrelevant that a fading has-been like Beck, who will have to remake himself and go elsewhere, choses a show like Glee to mis-characterize and vilify. That just shows how wrong and off the mark he is.

I like Glee. I thought I wouldn’t but have been hooked since the first episode. My only complaints are the episodes that focus on the adults AND this current arc where pretty much every lead character is gay. I think its just starting to get tired and worn out and I think it takes away from Kurt rather than reinforces it.

Kurt had a good story line especially with the argument with Finn about ‘not wanting a gay guy to share his room’. I think that was a strong few minutes of drama. But, then they left that hanging and moved on… Missed shot. Santana and Brittney being sorta gay and sorta not? ..WHAT? Makes no sense.

Last few episodes haven’t held my interest.. I hope they get off this arc soon.

not a glee fan, but have tuned in a few times. LOVE the guy in the wheelchair “dancing”, what a great way to incorporate people with “special” talents!

Glen Beck is an idiot, need say no more.

  11. @marin, I don’t disagree. Maybe a new season needs to start.
