Happy Birthday to Mr. Howler and Ingrid. May 16 was a very good day, regardless of the year.
Time for a new weekly open thread, for those things we don’t cover.

@Cato, bet I could make one of those also.
@Cargo, when we were at war with them, yes. After the war, we separated nasty from nice.
I am uncomfortable dissing anyone’s culture like that. We aren’t talking about drug war lords. You aren’t going to see the part of Palestian life that isn’t throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers on the news.
Our chairman was at the Tea Party Review(TPR) Magazine touting the crime rate here in the county.

From the article “The challenge, Stewart said, was that the resolution only applied to Prince William County — it’s “not universal,” he said.
Umm, excuse me, Corey…how do we know if the resolution is still working, since NO article in recent weeks has given the legal status of perps.? What’s up with that? We deserve to know the status of these perps being held without bond. Are they illegal aliens? I for one, would like to know specifically about a rape that happened on Mother’s Day afternoon at 2:45, just two blocks over. This dude has strolled down by street several times that I’ve seen. Sickening, just, sickening…

@Laf, what exactly are you saying? Are you speaking of the local paper not publishing status? Why is that? Why is status suddenly a secret?
I’m speaking about the local paper’s articles and local media in general with regards to the newest arrest in the Logmill Rd. accident. I’m asking the questions, because I don’t know. Your guess is as good as mine. It is odd that this used to in the stories, but it’s lot recently. smh!
You’re right, all you need is a crayon and a piece of paper. Come to think of it, that would also qualify you to serve on our BOCS.
@cato, I might not even need the crayon to do that.
@Laf,
I did notice that certain info had been left off. Policy change at the local newspaper?????
@Emma
I made that same comment to a friend the other day
I know that Mr. Obama doesn’t get his due much from those here on the right – myself included – on the few occasions that Mr. Obama does something well or correctly. So, I’ll go on record and say he did good.
Obama told Congress to pound sand with regards to the War Powers Act. By stating that US participation is so limited he’s all but told Congress “what are you going to do about it? I’m the President, bit*hes!”. That takes some brass ones. And, you know what? He’ll win.
Congress won’t do a darn thing. They’ll cry and moan on Sunday talk shows, to Politico, in editorials and any other venue that the press affords them. What they won’t do is take a vote taking away power from the President to wage war without Congressional approval.
Obama has shown how little power Congress wields when they don’t have a united front. Obama rolled Congress. He rolled up a newspaper and hit Congress straight on the snout. Good show Mr. President.

Bwaaaahahahahahaha –your imagry is great, Marin. Hitting congress on the snout. chortle.
Anonymous reporter from Jiffy Lube says things are a little calmer this year. Not nearly as many fights. I hope that continues.
I had a rover reporter tell me that the were told to get out of their car and into the show after they just pulled in their parking spot. You might want to take a look at this article. It looks like the jello shooters were out on some of the side roads along Wellington Rd..

I just came by Ben Lomond Manor House at dusk, and the encampment looks so neat that time of night. I’ll be visiting tomorrow.
@laf
So did they get pissed off and leave?
I saw the fools out doing shooters in the paper. You have to understand that I hate drunkeness, not drinking. The only reason to do shooters is to get drunk.
My reporter was not a concert goer. Too bad drunks had to ruin it for everyone.
Moon,
I too have zero tolerance for drunks. However, making people drink later in the day/night is NOT going to help things out there. I saw that the Equestrian Unit was on the scene at Nissan(refuse to use the new name). The comments on the Boycott jll page on FB has plenty of reports from the concert. Wow!! I’m definately not going back to that joint. I do NOT want my daughter to walk across the stage there next year to graduate. Bring the graduations back to the football fields!!
No one is making anyone drink. No one has to drink, especially excessively.
So who is bitching the loudest? The Jiffy Lube crowd or the Merriweather Post Crowd?
All I know is employees have said they had to break up far fewer fights.
The bottom line is, people can either go by the rules of an establishment or they can go elsewhere to concerts. As crowd behavior becomes more of a liability and more expensive, many venues will be making the same choices about tailgating and liquor on premises.
I’m sure they had less fights to break up. The country music crowd is the rowdiest by far. I’ve seen fights happen right in front of the cops with the kids with us. And NOT a damn thing was done about these staggering drunk fools, that were bringing their fight to our blanket. Meanwhile, we watched two of PW’S finest chat it up with a woman, and walk away from the fight. Nice, real effin’ nice. We sat where we saw others with kids in hopes of not having to deal with drunks. However, that did not happen. I’ve been to about 150 concerts there, and I could right a book on the things I’ve seen. Some would make your hair stand.
I think they’ll have less drunks, because people that have tickets will REFUSE to spend one dime on any kind of concessions and less people will buy ticket all together for that hell hole.
oops..WRITE a book.
Check your email for the happenings on Laf last night.
I SURVIVED! The campout/marshmallow roast/birthday party was a success. By the next morning, we had 3 girls left! 3 out of 5 ain’t bad! One couldn’t make it and the other two went home. No possums were harmed during the excitement.
No one got caught on fire, thought not through a lack of trying…..I didn’t have to break out the bourbon, and everyone had fun.
And to think that some folks were worried about the fake rapture.
Did you have tee shirts made?
