Teen charged with sexually assaulting 7-year-old girl
A 13-year-old Manassas boy has been charged with sexually assaulting a 7-year-old girl on Friday, police said.
The victim told police that the boy assaulted her multiple times — at least once in the 9900 block of King George Drive, in the West Gate of Lomond neighborhood — for about a year, Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok said.
The boy was charged with two counts of aggravated sexual battery and two counts of indecent liberties by a child, Perok said.
The boy’s court date and bond information were not immediately available.
Police did not release the identity of either kid due to their age.
Here we go again. Once more we have children sexually assaulting younger children and no one knows who the child who assaults even is. I am having a bad flash back.
I remember almost 35 years ago coming home from work to face a tragic story about our little 3-year old neighbor being abducted and taken across the road into what was then Barrett Field. She was assaulted. Was she raped? No, but only because she was so young and it wasn’t for lack of effort on the part of the 16 year old perp.
The perp was found and the long, arduous adventure through the court system began. The cops were great and the commonwealth’s attorneys office was great. The court system was not great. The parents of the little girl were put under a gag order to protect the attempted rapist’s identity. The 16 year old perp had the run of the community, and he was found incompetent to stand trial There he was, an attempted rapist with the run of the neighborhood and very little supervision from his parents. The system was broken. I believe the judge was quoted as calling me a vigilante because I kept calling the commonwealth attorneys office and reporting unsupervised sightings of this little creep. I probably called in several times a week, every time I saw him wandering around. I wear that title as a badge of honor still.
It wasn’t until several years later, even after he had assaulted other little neighbors, in other neighborhoods in other jurisdictions (because the family moved around alot,) that he finally assaulted a young child in his own extended family and her mother finally reached out to authorities. It was only then that he was put away.
Apparently the court system still isn’t set up to handle cases like this in a way that protects neighborhoods and children. The cops were great and a young reporter named Jimmy Peters worked for the Journal Messenger. He was great and stayed all over the story for over a year. He really became involved in the story. I suspect it changed him forever. It was not buried on the last page under robberies, tool theft, and an assortment of other crimes as today’s story was. I would have missed it had Lafayette not shot it over to me.
When this kind of nastiness goes on in a neighborhood,, all the neighbors need to know so they can protect their children. I don’t give one rat’s ass about protecting this kid’s identity. If he sexually assaults a 7-year old, I want to know who he is and wherer he lives and our neighborhood will be watching his perverted little tail like a hawk.
Please prove me wrong, court system. Please remove this 13-year old from the neighborhood and put him away where he cannot harm others. Please don’t buy into the false notion that child child molesters can be cured. All evidence and studies suggest otherwise. Please, News and Messenger, don’t bury stories like this. Plaster them on the front page. The communities need to know. Parents need to know to protect their children. Furthermore, this perp is operating only blocks from Ben Lomond Park and a community pool area, where people go and let their guard down a little while the families have fun. He lives near Stonewall Middle School. Kids play there all summer.
I hope this child has been arrested and taken in to custody. I will back off once I am assured this time common sense is being employed at all levels, from news coverage to final disposition of the case.
It just keeps getting closer!! This should be front page news. imho
Totally agree, Lafayette. Thanks for alerting me. We get the print version also and Mr. Howler didn’t pick up on it.
Before it is called to my attention by a certain city gentleman, I would like to point out that the perp lives in the Manassas AREA, not Manassas City. The crime happened in Prince Willilam County.
Thank you MH.
You are welcome, Big Dog.
