Fox News severs contracts with those candidates who announce their candidacy for president.  (What’s worng with this picture?)  So far, Rick Santorim and Newt Gingrich have both been terminated.  No so with Sarah Palin.  She has not announced, therefore she is still an employee of Fox News.

In The Five, Greg Gutfeld and Bob Beckel both manned up and admitted that they pulled punches when it came down to talking about Palin because she worked there. Beckel basically clarified and said really that it was because he got a paycheck. Do we interpret that as Palin is under the protection of Fox News?   Perhaps she will never declare and will have no one criticize her ever on Fox News.  That’s one way to keep things quiet.

On the other hand, Palin does not disappoint.  She predictably threw out her victim card in the video.  Don’t you love someone that easy to predict?  Whine, Sarah, Whine.  Show a little tooth there, Mama Grizzly!  No one does victimizaton any better.

10 Thoughts to “Colleagues admit to pulling punches on Palin”

    First: Nothing wrong with FNC terminating paid agreements with those who have officially launched a campaign. The whole “equal time” dilema rears its head.

    Second: Nothing wrong with FNC requiring their paid employees to be professional and respectful to other paid employees. When your job is being a talking head/commentator/bloviator/opinionator, then you are somewhat limited by your conditions of employment, and professional courtesy to what you can/should publically say about a fellow employee, working in the same capacity.

    Keep your eye on Palin! That’s where the real action is!

    How do you interpret that Obama, Pelosi and Reid are under the protection of NBC, CBS, ABC, Time, NYT, Newsweek, NPR, MSDNC, etc, etc, etc.

  4. SlowpokeRodriguez

    You know, there are actual databases devoted to victimization by the left.

  5. @Steve Thomas

    In a perfect world, you are correct. However, Palin, once again, pushes the envelope. I have no problem with Fox terminating candidates. They should. I have no problem with Fox requiring their employees to be professional. They should demand more of that as a matter of fact. Would that they would require that same respect, say, out of someone like Steve Doocy when talking about anyone who isn’t his favorite Republican of the day.

    Actually, for once, I wasn’t criticizing Fox News. I believe I was criticizing Palin for playing the victim card.

    I am noticing a strange phenomena….how come when I just state facts without opinion that is seen as a reason with some of you to start doing the “well….look what so and so does for the liberal lefties?” Paragraph one was straight fact. Paragraph 2 was mostly straight fact with a little opinion thrown in. Paragraph 3 was criticism of Palin.

    Are you disputing that Fox News terminates those who have declared? That’s pretty much the nuts and bolts of it. I think the hidden message is that both Beckel and Gutfeld might like to be a little more forthcoming but hold back because of the employee relationship.

    @Moon-howler
    I don’t see where I said anywhere that you were attacking Fox News (you forgot to use “Faux”) Post 2 is related to nothing specific to your points, very general. Post 3 is a direct question to a question of yours, as is Post #4. I don’t know where you are getting “attacking Faux News (if you won’t, I guess it’s up to me).

    Actually, did you see “The Five” tonight? I loved Bob Beckel’s line about “making out in the back of a Chevy Volt”.

  9. @Poke, I missed ‘the five’ tonight. Does the 5 ever change? I mean people.

  10. Beckel and Gutfeld now are saying that they were kidding. I figured Gutfeld was employing some hyperbole because Palin is generally in Alaska but…it sure sounds like someone nailed both of them.
