The weather has finally broken. It was down right chilly this last night and this morning. What a nice break. The dog run was very quick this morning. They were sure surprised.
Fall is in the air for sure.

I rather like that bear-body-slam @cato
Waaahhhhhhhhhh The bears came back.
Shep Smith ain’t got nothin’ on me when it comes to funny bear pictures.
One of the black velvets has laid down some pretty viscious smack in the name of the tea party that is directed at Ann Wheeler who is running for supervisor of the Gainesville District.
“we’re going to blog, tweet, Facebook, call, campaign, put up yard signs …we’re going to do everything in our power to make sure you are humiliated at the polls.”
Not bad for a party that isn’t really a party.
It appears to me that the blog owner needs to take down some of the misogynistic remarks being made about women, specifically women candidates. References to screeching and vibrators when discussing female candidates is simply unacceptable in today’s society.
Members of the Republican Party and the tea parties should take serious exception to these tactics being used to denigrate their opponents. They should also remind self-appointed spokespersons of the damage those types of remarks do to their image.
Candidates who keep their own personal “pitbulls” for political commentary will eventually have to explain these actions to their constituents, if they win their race. Several candidates need to remember also who is running for office and who is not. Attacking private citizens is never a good idea.
Sort of like James Carville’s remarks about the Tea Party, but since it’s coming from the left, that’s Ok. BTW, heard of any Tea Party lynchings this week?
@Second Alamo
Are you saying those types of comments are acceptable to you about a candidate? I honestly don’t know why anyone bothers to even read the sh!t wrote over there.
I agree with everything Moon says. It seems to me the mania of that page speaks for itself. The post about humiliating someone at the polls is fair game though. That’s the way the game is SUPPOSED to be played. Not surreptitious photos and name-calling private citizens.
@Second Alamo
Why is any of it acceptable?
It shouldn’t be. Left or right should not matter.
You know guys, jobs come and go, being elected to office is still a job, but character, well, that is something that stays with people forever. Gregs blog demonstrates that very shortcoming in the people who post such vile comments about people. Having been on the recieving end of such gross comments, I can tell you, it’s just plain gross.
At the end of the day, what kind of person do strive to become? Is winning at all costs a lesson we teach our children, I hope not.
Peter Candland does himself a disservice by remaining silent on these very personal attacks on Ann Wheeler. He is sullied by his attack dogs and I hope he understands that on a moral and ethical level. It is he who benefits from these personal attacks and I doubt his family would approve of such comments. Imagine if these vile comments were directed at his wife. I am sure he would be very upset, as well he should be!
Finally some good news.
Martin Briley has resigned as head of Prince William County’s Department of Economic Development to head Virginia’s Economic Development Partnership (VEDP) and become its president and chief executive officer. He was chosen unanimously by the VEDP board of directors.
New York Times online stock reports are green the morning!
(Market close to break even for the year – wheee)
2012 SS COLA is being predicted to be as high as 3.5%!
(Ok, Medicare B cost will increase and take much of that)
Coupled with food bank and nearby grocery store dumpster to “shop”,
may, just may, be able to eat something in retirement!
Know that will tick off the GOP.
Tru dat!!
@Big Dog,
God forbid that any social security should be left. Save every rich person!!!
@Elena
It will be up to Mr. Candland to direct his ‘pitbulls’ to stop with the sexist and vulgar attacks and to stick to issues. He is ultimately responsible for what is said on his behalf.
I have seen several comments that I am certain he doesn’t want associated with his family. Elena, you make a good point. I am sure he wouldn’t want some of those things said about his wife, daughters, sisters, mother. The old “Do unto others as ye would have them do unto you” is a good thing to remember. When in doubt about doing the right thing, the Golden Rule is a good rule to live by.

Posted some good news about the twins on my FB status for those interested.
I saw that. Little guy is becoming a bruiser.
@marinm

Wow, Perry manages to make “W” look like the wise experienced adult
in the room.
Nothing like some unbiased reporting from “The Slate”. It must be killing the libs that Obama is living up to all our expectations!
Oh, then that’s the one I got wrong. I said servicing the debt.
“Daddy, how do they get a bear to ride a bicycle?”
“They nail its feet to the pedals and beat the $h1t out of it.”
Didn’t we talk about doing pretty much that to people at Mama Mias? @ pokie
Do we have a picture of a bear throwing Lou Ferrigno, I wonder?

Rick Perry – the man who makes Romney look good.
Mitt should tie him on the roof of the Romney campaign bus.
Obama – the man who makes them all look good. Even Rick Santorum.
@Big Dog
I’ll give you this….Perry didn’t do so well tonight. Romney did OK. Newt is back to sounding like the smartest guy in the room again. I like Huntsman, Cain, and Gingrich now. I could get behind a triumvirate of those three guys. Santorum and Bachmann……I don’t know….they can go away. I still like Paul, but I can see more clearly that he isn’t electable. But Perry didn’t do well tonight, I’ll hand that to you, no qualms whatsoever.
The comments about Obama were rough and uncouth, IMHO. And unnessary.
Perry is unbearable with his fake smile. Just can’t be trusted.
(wonder what Mrs. Gingrich looks like when she wakes up in the morning. That helmet she has on her head…)
@Slowpoke Rodriguez
I’m with you on Ron Paul. It’s a shame his not electable. People just seem to continue to vote for the “party person”. Ron Paul definately marches to his own drum. Cain continues to get my attention. I just can’t stomach Newt, but I did like his idea for business training for the unemployed.
Maybe Ron Paul can’t get elected because he comes across like a nut case? Just a thought.
Interesting stat. According to the Census Bureau, PWC is now the 9th wealthiest county in the whole country, trailing locally behind Loudoun (1), Fairfax (2), Arlington (5), and Stafford (7) but ahead of Montgomery County, Maryland (12).
He does come across that way….but if you actually listen to what he’s saying, he’s just simply right! I am growing weary of the “everything traces back to the fed” thing.

– Applaud executions
– Boo uninsured sick and injured citizens
– Boo an American fighting for our country in Iraq
The GOP has fallen down a rabid hole.
The inept Obama Presidency may yet be saved by the Republicans as they
fight to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Mr. Obama cannot win in 2012, but the Republicans can lose by being
small and extreme.

That is a premature assessment by Peggy Noonan. She should not count her chickens before they hatch.
He does come across that way….but if you actually listen to what he’s saying, he’s just simply right!
Hey! Guess what! That applies to me too!

Isn’t it about time for a new thread and a “little” announcement? 🙂
I’ll get on that right now, Ms. Lafayette. I had to sleep. I was at critical mass in the sleep dept.
“little announcement”, What??? Moon having Corey’s love child?
@Mom
Bwahahaha!
It’s no laughing matter:
“There’s only one thing wrong with the Love Child, ITS ALIVE!!!”
Women do still have a choice in the Commonwealth. Well, at least for now.

Petula Dvorak’s column (WaPo Metro section – 9-23-2011)
No comments here on Perry’s response to the question about the “Dream Act” in Texas? Seems to me he gave the kind of answer some here would applaud.
@Wolverine
That thread hasn’t had much traffic. I will answer that since I support the concept of a Dream Act. (without apology). It would take a lot more than Perry’s view of the Dream Act to make me think he would be worthy of my support. Those few utterances of sanity in a sea of stupidity doesn’t cut it for me. I think he is nuts in general and a snake oil salesman. The fact that in that scrambled political mish-mash of ideas there lives a person who thinks that educating all kids rather than having them langish in ignorance might be a good idea is only note worthy, not vote getting. If Rick Perry gets it, it must be glaringly obvious.
Take what you can get , Moon. It could set a precedent. One step at a time, and you might get where you want to go on this priority. I’m not saying that you have to support the guy, but it should be possible to give him a pat on the back for something he HAS done which meets your own goals.
Actually, Texas has done more than that. When the state by state SAT scores came out for this past school year, people wondered why the Texas scores were lower than a considerable number of other states. Turns out the reason was that Texas is now judged to be doing more than any other state to get minority students into the SAT program and improve their chances for getting to college. In that situation, the lower Texas SAT scores reflected a much larger participation at all levels. Gotta give some credit where credit is due. They are trying.
@Wolverine,, I am not sure I approve of getting more minority students into the SAT program. I don’t see correlation between more taking a test and readiness for college. I believe that students who qualify for college should not be denied admission because of status if they have been educated in the United States and are here through no fault of their own.
I would also not hop on the bandwagon too quickly as to why Texas has lower scores. I am not sure why they would have more minorities taking the sAT than say California. I am not for kids going to college just because they are minorities. I am for kids going to college who meet the academic qualifications of the school,
You just gotta watch us ‘”liberals” and our wild ideas of social engineering. 🙄
