What is Congress doing? Is it so important to destroy a presidency that they are willing to sacrifice a country? Remember the words of Mitch O’Connell when he told us that that Republicans’ top priority during the next two years would be to defeat Obama.

There is no bipartisanship in the House nor in the Senate. Obama needs to recognize that the fist has been offered and he needs to act accordingly. The debt ceiling issue that led to the United States losing its AAA bond rating and the subsequent stock market free fall should have been fair warning. Many of us will not forget.

    Oh boo hoo.

One) The rating downgrade, AS PER THE RATING AGENCY, was caused by the out of control spending and the lack of seriousness by the parties to cut spending.

Two) The debt limit was raised. And one month ago we had ANOTHER VOTE to raise it again. And Obama wants ANOTHER stimulus bill because the first one worked SO well….he wants to hand out money to his buddies, again.

Three) The HOUSE is ready to compromise. The Democrats in the Senate refused to vote on Obama’s bill and changed it, refusing a straight vote. THEY know its a tax and spend stimulus bill that will do nothing.

Four) Why is it that this bill is considered so important, yet it took so long for Obama to come up with it? Why the sense of urgency now?

Five) Just because HE thinks that its God’s gift to employment, history shows that his judgment is faulty in regards to the effectiveness of stimulus bills. The first one was supposed to do what he says this one is supposed to do at HALF the cost. FAIL.

Six) If there is no bi-partisanship in the House or Senate, and its the Democrats voting against his bills or a Bipartisan defeat (which is what it was) then he and the Democrats have themselves to blame. Remember the “I won.” statement? Or the locking out of the GOP during the HCR ram through? Or Pelosi’s attitude to the GOP? You want “bipartisanship”? Then the Democrats can start it. Or at least give evidence why its bills are worth passing as a benefit to the country? Because the latest BS is nothing more than more of the same old …stuff.

  2. Remember the words of Mitch O’Connell when he told us that that Republicans’ top priority during the next two years would be to defeat Obama.

Try to restructure what happened all you want. I can read, hear and my memory isn’t gone yet. I have watched this stuff for years.

Who said anything about compromise? Just pass the frigging bill. The Republicans haven’t come up with anything better. Just do it.

Weasel words don’t work any longer. Cantor said the bill wouldn’t be passed. He saw to that.

Tax and spend? Has it all come down to playground words now? My taxes haven’t gone up. Have yours? Well, my county taxes went up 20 bucks but my federal and state taxes haven’t. So where is this huge tax increase?

PSssst. The GOP had 8 years do come up with HCR all on their own. Where is it?
PSSSSTTTT Pelosi isn’t Obama. Pelosi is Pelosi. She and Eric Cantor aren’t who *I* would want to be stranded with on a deserted island, for sure.

The current Presidential job bill isn’t meant to be passed but only to be used as a tool to whack the GOP for… It’s so bad of a stinker that even the -D controlled Senate can’t pass it.

  4. Cargosquid

Defeating Obama IS a jobs bill. Obama’s agenda, as said by more than one business owner, is KILLING jobs.

Cantor said that they would COMPROMISE. Oh, wait…that’s what you wanted…or is it the Democrat compromise…pass what they want. And it was REID in the Senate that REFUSED to have a vote on Obama’s bill. At all. He changed it. And then changed the rules. So where’s your criticism of the DEMOCRATS that refused to pass this oh so necessary bill that took Obama months to bring up because he had better things to do…like go on vacation. Remember when jobs was #1? Yep. His priority was jobs. So, of course, he hasn’t worried too much about encouraging job growth for years. HCR was more important.

It was never meant to pass. Its just political theater.

GOP had 8 years do come up with HCR? Why would they do a socialist thing like that?
And higher taxes are coming. They are attached to the HCR bill.

Bipartisanship works BOTH ways. Why is it that when a bill is voted down with bipartisanship, its…not bi-partisan?

  5. Bear

You’re correct, the bill can’t even pass the Senate with the rule that 60 votes is a majority.
I assume none of you “non-socialists” are collecting Social Security or Medicare!
How can you blame Obama for no jobs? I believe the Congress is still the branch that pass bills. When we really need a jobs bill , what are the House Republicans voting on, you guessed it abortion rights. Obama tried to suggest a direction for jobs but if it passed the Republicans would view it as an Obama victory, not a US citizens victory and that would make it harder for them to portray the President as incompetent and it might take another 4 years to gain control

  6. Bear is right. On Thursday, the Republican controlled Congress spent the day passing more draconian duplicate (because of the Hyde Amendment_ anti abortion bills. Anti abortion measures are far more important than jobs, it seems. Once again, I have no choice but to believe that the GOP wants in to every aspect of a person’s private life. When do they go after birth control also?

Apparently those who think universal health care is socialistic have never had catastrophic concerns. Cargo, I know you have a child with exceptional health care needs. Just what would you do if for some reason you found yourself without health care for her?

All it takes is a parent losing a job to start that downhill spiral. No job, no health care, new job, non-coverage because of pre-existing conditions. It is real easy to call someone else a socialist until it is you or a family member.

  7. Oh, and if Cantor was willing to compromise, I sure haven’t seen it. Where is it? Was that anti-abortion bill the compromise you are talking about? Yea, I get it…making more jobs for teachers. Gotcha!

I repeat…Cantor said the bill would never reach the floor of the House.

He can take his compromise and stick it. He isn’t going to do that either apparently. Where is it? Where are the JOBS the GOP said they knew how to create? Where is the legislature for those jobs?

Its real easy to criticize someone else. Let’s push that non-existent GOP jobs bill through just like that anti abortion amendment to an amendment went through. That one just flew through the House.

    Bear :

How can you blame Obama for no jobs? I believe the Congress is still the branch that pass bills.

It’s easy….just listen to Obama and his ever-dwindling army of supporters blame Bush for no jobs with a Democrat-controlled congress. Apparently, it’s the easiest thing on Earth!!

    1. Blaming anyone is counter productive. Let’s start putting people back to work fixing infastructure.

I would not rest on laurels about Obama having an ever-dwindling army of supporters. People get irritated over things but the reality is, who are they going to vote for? There are a few things that haven’t been taken in to consideration. At any rate, count your chickens before they hatch at your own peril. The field of challengers is way to wide. In order to pull in the centrists/moderates you will have to have what you all call a RINO. Your hard core folks won’t accept a RINO. They will stay home. Its really a basic math problem.

  9. Cargosquid

Where were the jobs bills before now? I mean, they had a super majority in BOTH houses and jobs was priority 1!

    Oh…wait….it wasn’t.

    never mind.

Just blame the Republicans. That seems to be the only thing that Democrats can do well. Its always the Republicans’ fault. Same old story.

Just ignore the fact that Reid called Obama’s latest stimulus bill a tax bill and that he couldn’t find any votes for it.

And Cantor can’t compromise on anything if the Senate doesn’t pass a bill…… It takes BOTH houses to make a compromise.

  10. Bwaaahahahahahahahaha I take it you didn’t like the cartoon?

I think the jobs bills had other names…like stimulus. It wasn’t enough.

Cantor said that the bill would never reach the floor of the House. He saw that it didn’t. Do you like Eric Cantor? I never have. I have always felt he was disingenuouos.

I don’t recall bringing Harry Reid into the conversation. I am more focused on the house. I know what to senate minority leader wants to do.

  11. Cargosquid

Eric Cantor did say that it would not pass AS WRITTEN. It didn’t pass the Senate as written either.

Why is it that the bill has to pass as is? If we are just going to rubber stamp everything, why have a Congress at all?

  12. Starryflights

The Repugs used the filibuster to kill the jobs bill. They didn’t want to allow a straight up-or-down vote because it would pass and they don’t want Obama to get the credit for his reelection, just as Mitch McConnel declared.

The filibuster is unconstitutional. There is nothing about it in the Constitution. The Repugs don’t respect the Constitution of the United States.

I kinda hope the Repugs win the White House back so that we can keep raising deficits without anybody caring or noticing, just as was the case when Bush was in office.

  13. SlowpokeRodriguez

    @Starryflights
What does the Constitution, a document of limits on the power of the federal government, have to do with the rules each legislative body decides to abide by? Someone said once that “Starry” is only pretending…….I think we’ve eliminated that possibility.
