President Obama has managed to end 2 out of the three wars this week.
Gaddafi has been killed thus ending our involvement with Libya. Additionally, President Obama has announced that all Iraqi troops will be home by year’s end.
Many of the hawks like Lindsay Graham and John McCain have criticized the president for pulling out and leaving the country unprotected. But was this really Obama’s doing? According to benchmark records, President Bush signed an agreement with the newly formed Iraqi government to leave all Iraqi territory by December 31, 2011. Hmmmmm….why is this Obama’s fault?
Some might say he was a poor negotiator. Others might say he honors prior commitments of other presidents.
This is classic! Corey’s fundraiser the other night, almost a quarter of a million dollars, says it all. I well remember when Corey excoriated Sharon Pandak for being ” The Developers Candidate” and how he was the people’s candidate. Times sure have changed.
2007 exerp fom the letter Corey Stewart submitted to Advocates for The Rural Crescent regarding his opponent Sharon Pandak:
“I am pleased to see that my opponent in this years election has changed her mind about pledging to protect the Rural Crescent. YOur supporters should be reminded that my opponent refused to sign the rural protection pledge a mere eleven months ago during the last years special election. By contrast, I have always stood as an uncompromised champion of protecting the Rural Areas of our county against development encroachments. Since my opponent was the developers candidate in last years special election, and is quietly so again this year, there are some who might view her decision to sign the pledge this year as politicl posturing intended to confuse the voters.”
Well, since this letter, Corey voted for Avendale which took over 125 acres out to the Rural Crescent and put several hundred homes were only 12 were allowed by the the Comp Plan. Corey has now taken over the mantle of the “Developers Candidate” as VPAP clearly demonstrates with the numerous large developer campaign contributions.
Guess what industry gave the highest amount of money……….real estate/construction (139,857.00)
I really haven’t minded killing terrorists. I think that is why we have spent about 10 years at war, ringing up billions of tax dollars belonging to the American people–to rid of world of terrorists. Gaddafi was a terrorist. He has been a terrorist my entire adult life. Just because the United States eased up on him a little makes him no less a terrorist and I truly believe he had a paw print on the Lockabie terrorist attack.
Now, having said all that, no, I don’t mind that he was killed and no I don’t mind that he met the business end of one of our drones. I don’t believe that us being involved made droning him a political assassination.
I do believe what I saw on TV was wrong. I know when I first started watching the video clip, he was alive. Words were coming out of his mouth. I don’t know what they meant but they were his words. Then I saw his assassination and his body desecrated. I saw him kicked and spat on in death. That is taking it too far. Is that was all this war was about? It appears to me that we have gone from bad to worse. Those killers were animals. Have we turned over an entire country to people who behave like this and defile others in death? Might as well have kept Gaddafi. At least he pretended to have a modicum of civility. The Libyans we saw on TV finishing off their leader for decades represent an evil side of mankind. If that is sharia law, let’s just stick with anarchy or dictators.
Given the recent debacles of rezonings within the 1 mile radius of the Town of Haymarket, it is crucial that the incoming Supervisor have a positive working relationship with the Mayor and Council Members of Haymarket.
I don’t know why Peter Candland did not show, but certainly, given his past record of being absent from the budget committee, his “no show” only reinforces the concerns that citizens have expressed regarding his dedication to the residents of Gainesville.
I see paper signs for Peter Candland, but where, where, is the actual person running and why has he missed such an important opportunity to meet his constituents?
Joe Biden should be huffy. This young pup questions the use of the language? To answer his question, YES.
Crime incidence is clearly and measurably linked to number of available police officers. The more trained officers, the lower the crime rate is shown in case after case, in community after community throughout the United States.
WASHINGTON — Vice President Joe Biden doubled down Wednesday on his charge that rape and murder will rise if Congress fails to pass the American Jobs Act.
Minutes after addressing a firefighters rally in a Senate office building to push for passage of (at least) a $35 billion provision that would pay for the hiring of hundreds of thousands of police officers, teachers and firefighters, Biden was challenged by a reporter over his crime claims.
Some of our contributors have sent me a poster for our conservative readers. I didn’t post it. It contained a bad word. [polishing my halo] However, when they sent it back with the bad word cleared up and a double dog dare, what’s a girl to do?
I hope everyone takes this poster in the spirit it was intended.
This particular session is the Romney version. Rachel Maddow hosts a man-cave session so that the male politicians understand female parts, pregnancy and birth control and how legislation that defines life beginning at conception or fertilization will outlaw contraception. It could even make miscarriage suspicious and open to investigation by authorities.
Mitt Romney is not the only person who is agreeing to legislation he really doesn’t understand. Most people don’t understand the unintended consequence of their words. Romney is just playing to his base. He doesn’t understand that his words would medically make contraception, which he believes in, illegal. Local politicians like Jackson Miller have voted for similartype legislation. Jackson also supports contraception and isnt aware of the unintended consequences.
One exception is too-long -in-office Delegate Bob Marshall, who originally ran on a term limits ticket when he first became a delegate. Bob Marshall has continually pushed for legislation that defines when life begins. He has sponsored legislation that goes back further than conception to include life beginning at the moment of fertilization or union of sperm and egg. Unlike Mitt Romney and Jackson Miller, Bob Marshall knows exactly what he is saying and doing. He has made a life time career out of attempting to outlaw not only abortion but also the use of contraception. He and his buddy at American Life League, Judie Brown, set out years ago to trick voters and the uninformed into passing legislation that would, in essence, make using contraception illegal. Don’t be caught off guard.
American Life League is located in Stafford, Virginia. Bob Marshall was involved in the formation of the organization, along with long time leader, Judie Brown. ALL is most definitely anti abortion AND anti contraception. If you queston Bob Marshall about wanting to outlaw contraception at one of the meet the candidates nights, he will not deny the charge. He just won’t bring it up and let the voters know his true intentions.
It is time for Delegate Bob to retire. His term limits have expired. Send his opponent Carl Genthner to Richmond. Carl supports the women of Virginia making their own contraception decisions and won’t try to trick them with defining life.
Candidate Chris Royse is running for supervisor of the Woodbridge Magisterial District and has challenged Supervisor Frank Principi, again. Royse did something a few years ago that I haven’t quite gotten over–something I think was unconscionable for a public office seeker to do. He called on the leaders of the Arlington Diocese to withhold communion from both Supervisor Principi and Congressman Gerry Connolly. What a nerve!
Royse identified both men as Catholics and accused them in a public letter in the News and Messenger of “supporting pro-choice agendas in direct violation of church teachings.” In the first place, since when did Royse become the ” mind police or the arbiter of who is and who is not right with the Church?” What pro-choice agenda has Frank Principi supported as a supervisor in Prince William County? What does Prince William County have to do with abortion services? Do we have a hidden clinic no one has heard of?
DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano was called before the Senate Judiciary Committee to get dressed down by this esteemed governing body and to answer a few questions about immigration, TSA, and other things that fall under the Department of Homeland Security. Not everyone was on their best behavior.
Homeland Security Secretary Janet A. Napolitano says her department has the resources to deport about 400,000 aliens each year, and the new guidance her department issued will only change the makeup of who gets deported.
“There are 10 million or so illegal immigrants probably in the country and the Congress gives us the resources to remove approximately 400,000 per year,” she said, testifying to the Senate Judiciary Committee. “The question is, who are we going to prioritize. And we’re very clear. We want to prioritize those who are convicted criminals. We want to prioritize those who are egregious immigration and repeat violators. We want to prioritize those who are security threats, those who have existing warrants.”
The chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors said he had the biggest campaign fundraiser of his political career last week, hosting business executives from across the region at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club. Corey A. Stewart (R-At Large) is running for reelection against Democratic challenger Babur Lateef, a local physician, and independent John S. Gray, an accountant. Stewart said his campaign pulled in about $234,000 last Wednesday night, giving him about $300,000 to spend heading into the Nov. 8 election. The business executives attending the dinner included some of Prince William County’s and the region’s largest real estate developers, he said.
With news like this, we have to start sniffing. Who is getting fleeced and who is securing their position to rape, pillage and plunder the undeveloped land in Prince William County?
The above video explains the damage in neighboring Culpeper, Virginia. The main damage was done near the epicenter in Mineral, Virginia, 35 miles from Culpeper.
Gov. Bob McDonnell and Virginia First Lady Maureen McDonnell met privately with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for approximately 10 minutes this morning in Hampton in what was described as a “friendly visit” by McDonnell spokesman Tucker Martin.
The conversation ranged from Louisa County disaster aid to a park designation for Fort Monroe to the focus of the president’s event — veterans.
McDonnell and the first lady welcomed the Obama’s to Virginia and the governor thanked the president for making the hiring of veterans a priority, according to a brief description of the meeting by Martin.
Rachel Maddow warns us all about our 401Ks(authorized in 1978). Our nest eggs give us a false sense of security. They are riddled with hidden fees. Everyone needs to see this segment of Rachel Maddow. Meanwhile, don’t be lulled into a false sense of security.
Just a few tidbits about your 401k–it is only worth 76% of what you see. Why? Taxes haven’t been taken out. The 403B is its ugly evil twin (those often have annuity zingers attached that cost you money). That’s if you live in Virginia. Most people who contribute to a plan get some free money. That is good. However, if you don’t get matching funds, you are far better off using an IRA as a retirement vehicle. Why? More choices. Company 401k plans are usually limited in choices.
Jon Stewart tells us that the soul of America has been awakened by Eric Cantor’s battle cry. Americans are being pitted against Americans. Who are we up against? University professors who can flunk you for beng too openly conservative at Fictional U! Go fighting figments of your paranoid imagination!
There is a long list of enemies. Can you list them? You might have to listen more than once. I did.
There is a little math involved and even a Venn diagram.
