Student President of Texas University calls Obama Assassination ‘Tempting’

From Huffingtonpost.com:

Lauren Pierce, the president of the College Republicans at UT Austin, said on Twitter Wednesday that the idea of assassinating President Barack Obama was “tempting.”

At approximately 2:30 p.m., Pierce posted, “Y’all as tempting as it may be, don’t shoot Obama. We need him to go down in history as the WORST president we’ve EVER had! #2012.”

The tweet came hours after police arrested a man for firing shots at the White House, leaving two bullets in the executive mansion.

Pierce joked that “it must be a slow news day” after ABC News posted a story on her comment:

Pierce told ABC News that the comment was a “joke” and that the “whole [shooting incident] was stupid.” Giggling, she said that an attempted assassination would “only make the situation worse.”

“Insofar as she’s a representative [of the College Republicans], maybe it shouldn’t be said, but she’s made a positive statement in a way,” said Cassie Wright, the group’s vice president.

“I don’t really see anything wrong with it,” Wright added. “It’s just a personal comment, not representative of any group. Just freedom of speech, you know?”

Does Pierce just live in some sort of moral vacuum?   I am going to boldly step forward and say we just don’t make jokes about assassinating anyone, especially our leaders.   This young woman has a great deal to learn.  If she doesn’t stop down from her leadership position, either the local Republicans or the university need to remove her.  I would feel the same way if Pierce were a young Democratic campus leader and suggested the same for Bush.  Just not done!

Paul Clement to defend health reform

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Paul Clement was attorney general for exactly one day in the Bush Administration. However, that is not his claim to fame.  He has argued more cases before the Supreme Court than any other lawyer in the past decade.

The day that it was decided the Supreme Court would hear the health care reform case, guess who was being treated to dinner by Paul Clement’s law firm, the one that would be arguing the case?  Justice Anthony Scalia and Justice Clarence Thomas.  Do they not feel attending this dinner gives a vision of impropriety?

Obviously not.

Colonel Morris Davis goes to court

Is anyone wondering what is happening with Moe’s lawsuit?  Find out here in the Washington Post article:

Appeals court hears case of ex-Gitmo prosecutor fired from Library of Congress over writings

The continuing saga of Moe Davis continued as he went to court on the 10th of Novemeber  to continue to battle the  forces of evil.  Moe sort of explains the nature of our blog, just by his very existence.  Who else to you know who has managed to piss off both the Bush and the Obama administrations?  Who else can take a shot at both and still maintain a sense of humor?

That’s our Moe!  Give ’em Hell, Moe!
