The introduction to Lyin’ Ass Bitch was played as Michele Bachmann walked in to the Jimmy Fallon Show to promote her new book. I don’t think she recognized the music. I didn’t. However, someone must have given her a heads up because she was furious.
I don’t blame her. The band was disrespectful. Even if it passed her by, it was still disrespectful and undeserved. This might be a case where someone needs to be furloughed for a week.
Bachmann was even more furious that a day went by before she got an apology from NBC and Jimmy Fallon, who said he was unaware that was going to happen. Again, I don’t blame her. I am waiting to hear about the consequences for those who made an extremely poor choice. Strange that those who actually misbehaved have not issued an apology.
And lastly, what a stupid song.
Rush covered this. Said that the drummer had been suspended. Apparently it was his idea. Why the rest weren’t….don’t know. Yet another reason not to watch Fallon.
I do find it interesting that NOW hasn’t said one word about it. Hmmm, like Palin….Bachmann must not count as a “real” woman in their eyes.
Cargo, you can sleep well tonight knowing that as of this second, I am very sorry I covered this story. I am not a Bachmann fan. I thought in the spirit of Thanksgiving I would perhaps reach out by taking the side of someone I usually go after.
No good deed goes unpunished. I am greeted with someone I loathe…Rush Limbaugh, one of the most contemptible people ever to draw breath. Bachmann didn’t recognize the song or anything about it. No words were used. She had no instant reaction, nor did Fallon.
Then I see NOW being upbraided for not commenting. Why the hell should NOW say a word? Perhaps they didn’t know. Perhaps they don’t care. Perhaps there are far bigger fish to fry with women’s issues than whether some woman gets her nose out of joint over some jackass song. It was a political jab, the same as First Lady and Mrs. Biden being boo’ed at the NASCAR event. Neither incident should have happened. People need to keep their politics out of their social life and in the case of Roots, their professional life. It was juvenile and rude.
Shouldn’t the point be that it was dirty politics rather than what slimball thought? Was he outraged over the first lady being booed at the race? I serously doubt it. Women on both sides of the aisle stepped up to defend Bachmann over being treated disrespectfully.
Next time I try to discuss an incident that happens with someone I politically disagree with, I will probably just walk on by, as the song goes. I don’t need to be slapped in the face with Rush Limbaugh and what NOW should do.
Well, if we’re being honest with each other here….she IS a politician.
She IS a politician. Trying to see your point here.
My point about keeping politics out of your work was intended for the band Roots. They will greet all sorts of people from all walks of life. THEY need to do their job and keep their personal politics off the Fallon Show unliess scripted with the approval of their bosses.
My point is……if the shoe fits. Calling any politician a liar is, shall we say, redundant?
It’s Thanksgiving, which means it’s time to stir the pot: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=45lp0xr7RxE
@SlowpokeRodriguez
You caught me over the words to the song. Duh me. I actually agree with you in theory.
I don’t think anyone should be treated disrespectfully in that setting.
Two of the most curteous people in the business are Rachel Maddow and John Stewart. Stewart might skewer someone in a skit but he would be coureous to them as a guest. It is just a matter of having good manners.
The drummer, whatever his name is, was wrong to bring his politics to the show. When people act like AH’s, then usually everyone else has to pay. I am assuming he called the shots for songs. What is the rest of the band going to do, play something else?
You snag the ring leader and make an example.

And a watched pot never boils.
Limbaugh is too much of a q-tip to realize the cultural positiveness of the song he mocks regarding the First Lady. The joke is on him.
Cargo,
Maybe, for a change, try finding common ground, it is so much more pleasant to live your life that way.
This treatment of Bachamn was probably worse than the booing of First Lady Obama, but that was incorrigable also. I will never cease to be amazed by the poor character of people.
Interesting contradiction by Rush Limbaugh
his take on the horrible behavior at a nascar race:

Thank you, Elena. I grow increasingly tired of even trying to find common ground. Why freaking bother.
Its a waste of my time. I might as well just go balls to the wall on everything.
OMG
Limbaugh is beyond belief!!! Almost makes me wish the “freedom of speech” thing could be limited in some way. How can he live with himself?
( And how can his third, or is it his fourth, wife live with him. )

Amazing. All I did was report a very clinical statement that Rush reported it and what happened. NO politics was involved except the comment about NOW. They were brought up because they had a hissy fit when Cain called Pelosi…Princess Pelosi, but nothing about this.
As for the booing at NASCAR…that was wrong. Shouldn’t have happened.
Thanks for finding common ground. I wasn’t stating that Rush’s opinion was right or wrong..just the he had reported it. I left his opinion out of it.
They had a hissy fit? 🙄 Where did this happen?
I see no reason for NOW to be brought up.
Seriously Cargo, quit polishing your halo. Did you really think that I wanted to hear what slimball thought about it?
I was sort of hoping we could all toss it around and not start affixing labels to rudeness. The drummer should not have brought his politics to work and I expect he is paying for it. Tweeting it right before the footage aired was even dumber.
I lost some sympathy as the whining went on for days about conservative women being picked on. Michelle Obama isn’t a conservative woman nor is Jill Biden. They too were picked on.
People are too free with their political opinions. Politics should never be brought to work unless that is your industry. It make others very uncomfortable and at work people are a captive audience.
Seriously, most people didn’t recognize the song. Its time to move on.
back to NOW…I just searched their website and I see no mention of the booing of Michele or Jill. Could it be that is just made up?
btw, saying “”hissy fit about women is sort of like saying black women are “uppity” in Virginia. I think it is only said to diss women. How about further south? Do men ever have hissy fits or is it limited to women?
Does dad ever have a hissy fit? In Atlanta, the word fit is left off and people just say she had a hissy.
‘
@Moon-howler
I didn’t tell you what Rush thought about it. I told you that he reported it because that was my source. Next time, I’ll just lie and say a little bird told me.
As for the booing…I already said that it was wrong.
Yes.. men and women have hissy fits. I have them all the time. Whenever I see Obama talking…. 😉
Going off of the rails on a craaaazy train.
Is hissy fit just some genteel code for people who don’t have the sand to say PMS? I do notice that my wife throws things at me when I inquire about her cycle, usually because she’s nagging me to do something or tells me I’ve had enough beer. Learn something new every day, I suppose. Good thing I just got a brand new plush couch delivered.
@Cato
What your wife is doing is not a hissy fit. What you just described is just blind effen rage. Trust me on this one. And if you say ‘hissy fit’ to her the BFR might just reappear.
I guess I’ll never understand. Sometimes she hits me for no reason whatsoever, like the time she wanted to buy a watch and I pointed out that since there was already a clock on the stove, she didn’t really need one. I don’t get it.
