Presidential Candidate Herman Cain has a press conference scheduled at 11 am this morning.  It is expected that he will drop out of the race.  Cain has soared with eagles and is soon to gobble with turkeys…turkeys with too much baggage.

I am curious about all of this.  Ginger White is now the latest woman to come forward, charging that she had a 13 year affair with Mr. Cain.  White elaborated and said it was not a love affair but a sexual affair.  She produced documentation of phone records.  She appears to be very open.

What prompts someone to come forward like that?  She has stated that she has received no money for her story. What is her motivation?  Why would she do something she knows will probably crater his chances for the White House?  Is it all about female power?

I am also curious about him.  I won’t question all his peccadilloes or charges of sexual harassment.  That pretty much speaks for itself and we have all knows people like that.  However, when you know you have baggage and you want to become president, why would you continue, knowing its all going to come out?  I don’t understand politicians who think that they are special and won’t get caught.  The higher the aspirations, the greater the likelihood of exposure.

 The media will now crawl all over Ginger White, giving her more attention than she could have possibly ever wanted.  Sadly, they will crawl all over the Cain family, who have done nothing.  Mrs. Cain will stand by her man in public and skewer him behind closed doors.  She might take him to the cleaners or she might not.  Could be, she has known of his proclivities all along.  Some wives prefer to blind eye things like this.  No spouse wants public humiliation, however.  BLIND EYE is no longer possible.

I don’t care if you are a local politician or aspiring to the highest office in the land, if someone knows something, it is almost human nature to want to share that knowledge with others.  That should be a warning to politicians.  If you have baggage, you might want to stay on the porch rather than running with the big dogs,l unless you have a mighty understanding spouse.

    The Koch brothers’ brother by another mother says he’s a fighter right before saying he’s not fighting. Good to hear that he bears no responsibility for his “no mas” announcement today, it’s all the fault of the media and the pundits.

  2. Cargosquid

    I’m a fighter too…… if my wife lets me. I have a feeling it was MRS. Cain putting her foot down and saying “no mas.”

  3. marinm

    MRS Cain for POTUS? heh.

    Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out. Next up for elimination, Newt.

  4. SlowpokeRodriguez

    I’m of the opinion that only Newt can take Newt out. And he’s only too capable of that. He’ll let the truth slip out one too many times, and that’ll do him in.

    Could someone give me a link to these phone records that she released? I was not aware of any shred of actual proof from Ginger White, apart from a bunch of things that destroyed her credibility. If she really had proof that she showed someone, I’d like to see it.

    @marinm

    So who do you see being the nominee? The only ones remaining that have not at some point been at the top of the heap are Huntsman, Paul, and Santorum. Paul gets a lot of credit for his honesty, Huntsman has a wealth of experience an he’s a smart guy, and Santorum has the social conservatism cred, but it’s hard to see any of them doing well in a general election.

    The only thing I saw was a story from the Slate (like the National Inquirer for liberals) that said there were all these records, but couldn’t actually show anything (typical for liberal “proof”). Supposedly, she showed some phone bills that had a 678 number that couldn’t be identified….but I haven’t heard of anyone actually seeing any proof yet.

    Paul doesn’t stand a chance, he’s too honest (can’t have THAT in politics). Santorum….I’m not sure why he’s still around. We got Gingrich, and Romney, and I’d be interested to see more from Huntsman. I wish I could say why Huntsman is so ignored….and I don’t think I’ve ever run into any good explanation for why he’s ignored. The more I see of Huntsman’s daughters, the more I’m thinking I might vote for him. I wouldn’t mind a couple of Paris Hilton-style videos from the President’s daughters. That’s be a cool scandal!

    The poor lady is probably tired of being embarrassed. She is very impressive and not likely to suffer any more foolishness.

  10. @SlowpokeRodriguez

    I saw it on tv. Nope, I sure can’t. I really just haven’t been that interested.

    I just wonder why a woman would do that to herself. Notice I am not asking why men would do what he is accused of doing.

    @Morris Davis

    I’ve made no secret that I think Paul should be the man. I think some of his bold ideas are needed to not only change things in Washington but to fix them.

    I don’t think he’ll be able to pass everything he wants to do but we need his ‘out of the box’ thinking to make things better in America.

    The rest of the crowd are simply different shades of neo-con and status quo.

    I haven’t seen a good explanation on Huntsman either. Its perplexing because he is a bona fided conservative, he’s smart, he has foreign policy experience, speaks mandarin chinese, (that has to be helpful somewhere along the line) and has a conservative record. He comes from a business family. Didn’t his father invent the McDonald clamshell container or am I thinking of the wrong person?

    I actually don’t understand why Santorum isn’t resonating with the values bunch. He has values all over the place. He is fairly old school Catholic rather than evangelical values but does it really matter? (serious question there)

  13. @marin, I am not sure he has all his bricks. re Paul. He’s a fairly interesting fellow. A few times this go round though, it seems like he just wasn’t on the mark. He is 76 years old which is not exactly a spring chicken.

    I think I am saying he seems like he is in slight decline.
