Jon Stewart helps Republican primary voters come to grips with what they are about to do and tries to steer them around making this decision. He tries to convince them that Newt isn’t Reagan. Newt is what Reagan would have been if he had been plucked out of his home as a babe and raised by cactuses. Newt Gingrich is NOT the Great Right Hope.

Seriously, when you gross Glenn Beck out, there is no where to go but up.

In many respects, this is old news. On the other hand, Newt’s arrogance is like watching a well orchestrated train wreck. You just cannot turn away. What is the likelihood Newt will win the party nomination? If not Newt, then who will carry the standard for the GOP?
So who won the debate? Were there winners and losers? Did Bachmann look presidential?
Good on Michele Bachmann for calling out Newt on what everyone knew. He was doing weasel words and she called him out.
Newt will win the nomination, if he continues to remain positive and resists the calls to go on the attack against the other contenders. He has the momentum coming into the primary season, and leads the polls in (3) out of (4) of the early primaries. This is where a candidate wants to be. Newt won the debate, not because of anything he said, but rather because none of the other cadidates managed to land a knockout on him. What I am really watching is how this whole Ron Paul Newsletter story is developing. I think it will hurt him, as reporting becomes more wide-spread. That will leave Newt and Mitt as the only perceived “viable contenders”. As soon as these first three or four early primary results are known, support and money will flow from the Bachmans, Santorums, and Huntsmans, to Mitt or Newt. I think Paul has peaked. If he does well in Iowa, he’ll see a bump in his numbers, but this will be eaten up plus a bit more, by this News Letter thing.
@Steve Thomas
So, if Beck doesn’t like him…that’s a plus in your book, right? 😉
I can see how a non-story about a newsletter dooms someone over actually living up to their wedding vows.
I swear to the Almighty that if Newt is the man – I’m voting for Obama.
MH, you can take that one to the bank.
I am just sitting here grinning. Newt vs Obama. Some folks wouldn’t agree with you, Marin.
Oops, Meant that as a reply to Moon.
No, not really. It just goes to show how deeply people who dislike him feel.
I deeply dislike him and I don’t believe a word that comes out of his mouth. Sometimes he says the right things, but that doesn’t mean he will do them. Newt serves one god. Newt. I don’t care a thing about his religious conversions. Maybe he stopped screwing around. He hasn’t sopped being deceptive politically.
I was going to ask what poor Steve Thomas had done. Geez.
Newy will get his butt kicked in the general election by Obama. Leave it to the repugs to nominate the one person who would lose
Well, not me. Let’s put it this way: If Ol’ Beelzebub suddenly burst forth from a fiery crater and declared that I could guarantee Obama’s defeat by voting for the Devil, I’d reply “hail Satan” and gladly pull the lever for Lucifer2012.
Wait a minute, that’s the same thing as voting for Obama, isn’t it?
Its good to see hate and “logic” alive in the embodiment of one human being. Why, pray tell, would I want someone who thinks like this chosing the next leader of the free world?
🙄
@Moon-howler
Actually, it’s 100% logic. Even the Prince of Darkness couldn’t do a worse job. So, you see, my logic is pure. You will sleep better knowing that your vote will cancel my absentee ballot. You’re welcome.
Why do we assume the Prince of Darkness is inefficient? I expect he probably is fairly streamlined.
