Happy Anniversary Moonhowlings!! To celebrate why not checkout the 2012 real estate assessments? They are now online. Strange thing I noticed when comparing a WG house to a Sudley house, the WG house saw a larger increase on their assessment. Looks PW residents will continue to be upside down. I’ll never being leaving Lafayette at this rate.
Totally grossed out here. Some perv got 4 months in the slammer for having sex with his 17 year old Yorkshire Terrier. How cruel. Furthermore, what does that say about him!!!!!
How does one explain that to one’s fellow inmates?
On a similar note, Del. Dave Albo apparently told a fairly TMI joke about getting ‘cut off’ by his wife after last weeks attack on women. I don’t think the bloke understands why still.
For what it’s worth I’m spending y’alls birthday getting my redneck on by watching the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup races. Already watched the Craftsman race last night..
WOOHOOO!
I need to learn to drink beer..
Danica Patrick is sitting on the Nationwide Pole.. GO DADDY!!
Thanks Marin. You absolutely will not be able to get your redneck on unless you learn to drink beer. Might I suggest Bug lites (that part was for Lafayette) If no BuG lites available, try Miller lite.
Moe can also throw in a few pointers. He is a good NASCAR guy. I might persuade Sunny to come on and help out also.
We aren’t celebrating until March. Our birthday coincides with my granddaughters.
Truthfully, Elena and I both need a little distance between us and the Virginia GA assembly before we are fit hosts. But you probably knew that.
MH,
Any idea what is currently happening at 9300 Liberty St.?
The “field of flags” has gradually become a real mess –
many of the flag poles have fallen over and a number of the
actual flags are on the ground and/or badly tattered.
Perhaps your friends Annabel and Eric could come by
and film it now and then interview Mr. Fernandez on what
great and noble “message” this is suppose to send?
Never knew the original l story of the flags – my guess is they
represented all the Spanish speaking countries.
I don’t have a problem with that as long as they are maintained.
At present it is a disgrace and hopefully the owners will soon
fix it before the city takes legal action.
(FYI – Most of the problem predates the recent high winds)
I never knew the story of the flags either. I am not sure if they are still in touch with Mr. F or not. They aren’t still in touch with me. Eric might be in touch with Elena. I don’t know why the field of flags is a mess. Hopefully the city will send him a citation and tell him, once again, to clean up his mess.
I am no fan of Mr. F’s shenanigans. He wore out his welcome with me years ago, about the second message. He like so many others, is just an opportunist, in my opinion.
I am told that the City cited Mr. F. for an ordinance violation and gave him 30 days to clean up the mess. Perhaps Steve could call someone in the inspection dept. and find out what is going on.
My understanding was that the flags were from countries that had a strong immigrant presence in the US and thus contributed to the grow of America over time.
Mr. F should understand that most immigrants from other countries certainly don’t want folks thinking they came here to trash the place. He is letting everyone down when he keeps things in ill repair, sort of like that Liberty Street house before it burned.
Come on Mr. F. The cameras have gone home. You aren’t a movie star despite the pompadore I last saw you strutting. Clean up your mess!
Moon, Mr. F was notified in writing to clean up that site…and the thirty days are up. As in the last couple of trash times, he was notified, did nothing and the City went in and cleaned it up then sent him the bill. Council’s Land Use Commitee was informed of this the other night at their meeting.
Given his pattern of not maintaining the property – even at a minimum – and the trash citations on top of the sign issues, I just wish the City would label that place a derelict property given the pattern. Maybe then something could be done to end his nonsense…but in my mind, if ever there was a case when eminent domain should be used, it is that piece of land.
@Ray, it does make you see the other side of the coin on eminent domain. On the other hand, he would play the ultimate victim.
I don’t understand why he goes out of his way to alienate the people in the City of Manassas. His attention seeking behaviors wore thin years ago. Now he has pretty much lost the support of everyone. No one wants to look at his trash. Its that simple.
If you need a picture, let me know. I’ll get you one tomorrow. It’s looked a hell of lots worse over there. I was over there Saturday with a friend walking around. Senor F a movie star…lmfao.
@Steve Randolph
Gentlemen, what time does tonight’s council meeting start. Want to make sure I have my FIOS tuned into the City gov’t channel. Waiting to see if the man that talked so tough at the convention is ready to cast that tough deciding vote on the Prescott & Quarry fiasco.
Hard to believe that city funds would be used to fix up a privately owned home. I don’t remember anyone coming to the rescue of our courthouse on Lee Ave when it was siting empty. A courthouse should be saved using taxpayer monies if it has to. I’m not a big fan, but government funds on a government building makes a hell of lot more sense than the option that city is actually considering.
Birth establishes personhood in this country. I doubt that this is going to change.
Why push to an extreme position? I feel certain that 100 years ago if something was seriously wrong with a newborn, things were just ‘handled’ if people lived in remote areas. However that was then and this is now.
Roe is fairly specific on whose decision is whose and at what gestational age. Post birth, I believe the only measures a parent can take are to withhold medical intervention and even that has limitations.
As for when the ethics argument is made here, on this blog, please don’t hold your breath. I don’t argue abortion. I argue legislation. How people feel about abortion is their business. I have been a loud proponent of Mitt Romney’s religion being irrelevant in the presidential race. That doesn’t mean that **I** want to be a Mormon. (They probably wouldn’t have me on a bet!) By the same token, no one should assume that all pro-choice people would consider abortion for themselves. Some would, some wouldn’t, depending on circumstances.
Sad to learn that Olympia Snow is giving up on the Senate.
Her reason, she states, is the incredible partisanship going on.
Read page A5 in todays WashPost.
I am on the budget plan with Washington gas. So far, I am not feeling the savings from the warmer winter. Does anyone else have some significant results?
With the exception of a Hitler or a Ted Bundy you hate to hear that anyone has died at a young age. On the other hand, I recall Breitbart going on a Twitter rant when Ted Kennedy died saying: “Rest in Chappaquiddick” and calling him a “villain,” “a big ass motherf@#$er,” a “duplicitous bastard” and a “prick.” He capped it off saying “Kennedy was a special pile of human excrement.”
@Moon-howler
Check this out!!
How very interesting last year our Governor was wanting to privatize our ABC stores, and this year the GA votes to have more stores open on Sunday. Funny thing last Sunday while at WG shopping center I did a double take when I saw people going in and out of the ABC store. I forgot they were open on Sundays. 🙄 http://wydaily.com/local-news/8472-law-would-let-all-abc-stores-open-sunday.html
@Moon-howler
We are all wood (electric central heat stays off). Pellet Stove and Catalytic Wood Stove insert. Still have plenty of pellets left (half ton) and have only used about half our cut wood. Lovin’ it.
I am sure somewhere in America some D-bag has done that. There are people who leave prayer cards as tips. My kids are in the foot industry. They have both pretty much seen everything.
Not a fan of move-on but I do know how cruddy the public can be.
Well, the difference is Breitbart was right about Kennedy.
Age and heart disease is a funny thing. My Mom’s Sister had three boys and two of them had SEVERAL heart attacks before 40, and they were thin. Sometimes it’s Genetics……and I don’t think there’s any way to fight genetic heart disease.
@slowpoke…please preface those remarks with ‘in your opinion.’
Actually Ted Kennedy did a great deal to help strangers that no one really knew about during his lifetime. To say something really nasty about someone when they die, like Brietbart did, just courts bad Karma. Apparently it didn’t take long with him.
While I have distain for his behavior, you have to feel sorry for someone that angry. He seemed to go from one angry episode to the next.

Side note: Personhood bill thread is chopped off.
@Lafayette
The six Republicans who voted against are on display at “Bearing Drift”.
Mine did what I needed for it to do. Living next door to a mcmansion doesn’t hurt.
@punchak
Thanks, I’m going to check it out now.
@Moon-howler
I’m surprised you didn’t see a huge jump just based on the amount of lumber that’s been invested at Fort McMansion next to you. 👿
Totally grossed out here. Some perv got 4 months in the slammer for having sex with his 17 year old Yorkshire Terrier. How cruel. Furthermore, what does that say about him!!!!!

Ben Tribbett has the video on his facebook page.
@Moon-howler
Brings new meaning to man’s best friend…. Too soon??? 😉
In other news. The error message on the main PWC government website made me chuckle.
@marin, I missed the error message.
I was obsessing about that poor LITTLE dog. I hope that dude becomes someone’s bubba for sure.
I am speculating that he had something seriously wrong with him in the size department. ewwwww. no more thinking about it. ewwwww
eeeeewwwwww ewwwwwwwww
Happy Birthday Moonhowlings!!

Bug Lites keep the western end glowing! That’s on streets with and withOUT street lights. 👿
Ah, stumbled across this old thread this morning. I thought it be good to dust it off and trot it back out, since we’ve seen that we are still getting “billed” for the Sesqui.
https://www.moonhowlings.net/index.php/2009/12/21/sesquicentennial-plans-withdrawn/comment-page-2/#comments
I’m still so thankful we had a few vigilant people paying attention at the time.
@Lafayette, I still haven’t figured out who owes what to whom.
I think this will be the year of the discretionary funds. Every year in PWC seems to have a theme.

Good op-Ed today from Maureen Dowd about repugs’ opposition to sex. She mentions the recent going ons here in Virginia.

Interesting item at Bearing Drift re Cantor.

“Milk in every bowl”!
Too cute. @Steve
@punchak, I need to stop going to Bearing drift. It isn’t good for my blood pressure.
Steve, is it worth me driving over your way to get a picture of Mr. F’s disaster du jour to post here?
If you need a picture, let me know. I’ll get you one tomorrow. It’s looked a hell of lots worse over there. I was over there Saturday with a friend walking around. Senor F a movie star…lmfao.

No city funds will be invested to stabilize 9300 Prescott.
The Mayor broke the tie last night.
@Steve Randolph
Thanks, Steve. FIOS was in and out and couldn’t watch last night.
I wonder how long it will be, before this “ethics” argument is being made here:
http://www.theblaze.com/stories/ethicists-argue-in-favor-of-after-birth-abortions-as-newborns-are-not-persons/
and for those inclined to instinctually attack the news source, here’s a link to the abstract. The reporting is accurate: http://jme.bmj.com/content/early/2012/02/22/medethics-2011-100411.abstract
@Steve,
Birth establishes personhood in this country. I doubt that this is going to change.

You are correct about the Blaze.
MItt Romney has won in AZ and in Michigan. Whew!!!
Time for Santorum to go home!
Excellent opinion piece by Soraya Chemaly on female roles in the Catholic Church.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/soraya-chemaly/catholic-leadership-does-not-represent-women_b_1276929.html
Interestingly enough, Santorum did not carry the Catholic vote, for all his efforts. he probably grossed them out also.
Hope you all are enjoying our “extra” intercalary day this year,
despite the cold rain.
But wonder if Rick Santorum realizes he is running for President
in a bissextile year?
Steve, if you told him he would think you just called him a bi-sexual.
Sad to learn that Olympia Snow is giving up on the Senate.
Her reason, she states, is the incredible partisanship going on.
Read page A5 in todays WashPost.
I agree, punchak
Total
Therms used
118 feb 2011 45 feb 2012
The average 2/11 temp in was 34. The average 2/12 temp was 40.
Hopefully next month will be my last gas payment until September.
I am on the budget plan with Washington gas. So far, I am not feeling the savings from the warmer winter. Does anyone else have some significant results?
Andrew Breitbart dead at 43, it’s being described as “natural causes.” Riiight.
@Cato the Elder
I guess what goes around, comes around.
@Moe
Who will spread all that hate now?
@Morris Davis
I want to see the toxicology report. Just sayin’
My father died of a heart attack at 48.
@Moon-howler

You are doing even better than I am. @Steve
I have a dual system–natural gas and heat pump. Now after I have crowed we will probably get 3 feet of snow next week.
We can always count on the left to provide class when it’s needed.
http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/blogs/taibblog/andrew-breitbart-death-of-a-douche-20120301
Pretty much what you’d expect from the left!
Two old adversaries. Well written and I expect Breitbart would expect no less from Matt Taiabbi. All’s fair in love and war.
Tasteless in genteel circles? Yes, but not so much in the circles where both men ran.
Were you as outraged over Brietbart’s remarks about Ted Kennedy when he died?
And here’s the latest from lefty think-tank, moveon.org:
http://front.moveon.org/this-banker-left-a-1-tip-and-a-nasty-message-for-one-unfortunate-waitress/
Of course, CNN and HuffPo admitted that they ran with this story even though it was a total hoax. Typical left-wing media. Facts? We don’t need those!
I am sure somewhere in America some D-bag has done that. There are people who leave prayer cards as tips. My kids are in the foot industry. They have both pretty much seen everything.
Not a fan of move-on but I do know how cruddy the public can be.
Thirty-five-year-olds are having heart attacks. Age doesn’t seem to be a barrier anymore.
@punchak
Sorry to hear that. I still want to see the toxicology report. In my business, if my mother tells me she loves me I still check it out.
@SlowpokeRodriguez
And here’s from the righty-whitey think tanks. The Koch brothers filed suit against the Cato Institute yesterday. The head of Cato said the Kochs are trying to do a hostile takeover of Cato to transform it from an independent think tank into a partisan arm that supports their political agenda. Facts? You don’t need facts when you just buy the outcome you want. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/in-suit-koch-brothers-seek-bigger-control-over-dc-think-tank/2012/03/01/gIQA5LXWlR_story.html
Maybe this is what really happened to Andrew Brietbart. He just had too much rancor in him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4od4QQVK1o&feature=player_embedded
I will watch this as a reminder to not get too worked up over things.
Freaks and animals?
@Morris Davis
I believe the Cato Institute without even blinking.
@slowpoke…please preface those remarks with ‘in your opinion.’
