You know what, Moon and I will stop obsessing about birth control and the Republican attack on women, when no longer have to read about insane legislation!

I am almost speechless, ALMOST, being the operative word.  Are we in the 21st century?

Since when do you have to tell your employers about your sex life?????!!!!!!!!!

In what WORLD do these Arizona Republicans believe it is ok to fire women because they use birth control for sex??!!  WHAT IN THE HELL is happening to my country?

Why would a woman get fired you may be asking, well, what if the sex police determine her affidavit was fudged?

This my friends, THIS legislation, is what intrusive government really looks like.

OMG, what an invasion of privacy.  I am disgusted.

Arizona Birth Control Bill Penalizes Women For Using Contraception For Non-Medical Reasons

Arizona legislators have advanced an unprecedented bill that would require women who wish to have their contraception covered by their health insurance plans to prove to their employers that they are taking it to treat medical conditions. The bill also makes it easier for Arizona employers to fire a woman for using birth control to prevent pregnancy despite the employer’s moral objection.

House of Representatives passed earlier this month and the Senate Judiciary Committee endorsed on Monday, repeals that law and allows any employer to refuse to cover contraception that will be used “for contraceptive, abortifacient, abortion or sterilization purposes.” If a woman wants the cost of her contraception covered, she has to “submit a claim” to her employer providing evidence of a medical condition, such as endometriosis or polycystic ovarian syndrome, that can be treated with birth control.

8 Thoughts to “Am I Still in America? WTF! Legislated Sex Police?”

  1. SlowpokeRodriguez

An odd piece of unnecessary legislation, to be sure. What I still find bewildering is how people can love one piece of over-reaching legislation and not love another piece of over-reaching legislation. If you want government involved in your life, enjoy it! Enjoy every part of it! And, oh by the way, “America” has little to do with this. This appears to be Arizona’s legislation, not America’s legislation. If you don’t like, you have 49 other options (50+ or so if you’re Obama) for states to live in.

  2. @Pokie, you understand that we don’t see those things the same way?

I see a need for health care reform. If you have ever had to go without, for whatever reason or thought you were covered when you weren’t, it makes ‘Obamacare’ seem like a good thing.

I’m just saying’ if you like government over-reach, you like government over-reach. If you give the beast more power, don’t whine when you can’t control it.

the affordable health care act doesn’t get in the way of personal medical needs. I am a big believer in personal responsiblity, unfortunately, for various reasons, there are too many underinsured or lack of insured that have a direct impact on my health care costs.

I do understand the contradiction slow, but I guess I see it the government intrusion not as a black and white issue. Unlike the Right, who clearly is struggling with their own platform.

I don’t see requiring health care coverage as the same as getting into peoples personal sex lives. Not every issue can be equally compared in my opinion.

    Slow,
This Arizona legislation was taken from the playbook of the recent Blunt amendment that failed in the House.

This attack on BC and womens sexuality is definately an American phenomenum.

The Repugs’ war on women continues! They will stop at nothing until half the population is subjugated!

  7. WHAT is the wrong with Arizona? Are they out of their minds? Who would want to move there? Great state but some really strange people. Give the state back to the Navajos!

Elena, actually you got stuck in a time warp. It is 1950. You are in teenybopper land.

Who would want to move there? I would, little or no hesitation. That’s the thing about states…..if you don’t like it you can move to another one. I ask the same question about California. And if you look at the census numbers, people are actually leaving California in droves. Great State but really strange people? That’s California, again. Give California back to the Mexicans (oh, wait, we already did that).
