Once again Pastor Jeffress put in an appearance to left-handedly support Mitt Romney for president.  He says that Romney has values that are in keeping with Christian values, but Mormons aren’t Christians.  He furthermore said that many evangelical religions also share his belief that they aren’t Christian.   So who  decides?

I thought that the group or the individual got to call that shot.  If a church is called The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, then what is it?  How dare someone else have the effrontery to tell another group that they aren’t Christians?  Isn’t that why we have different denominations in the Christian faith?  Christians have variations on how they practice and what they believe.

I was raised to believe that only God gets to stand in judgement like that.  I guess some folks have elevated themselves to that level.  Meanwhile, I suppose the war will go on between the various sects.  It just seems pointless to me.  Does anyone ever call these preachers on these outlandish statements?  They should.

    That’s pretty funny.

  2. Hi Starry. Where have you been lately?

Every time someone comes out with pronouncements like this, I am just speechless. No one bats an eye.

  3. SlowpokeRodriguez

Correct.. Nobody bats an eye at these outrageous statements. For the same reason that nobody bats an eye at what Ed Schultz says…..nobody is watching, nobody is listening. And nobody cares.

  4. Ed Schutz is a good guy, Pokie. I care. I like listening to him rather than Hannity. Can you guess why? I also like your girl friend Rachel Maddow. I like her a lot. She has nice manners and asks good questions of her guests.

I am waiting for Rep West to apologize for calling most of Congress ” communists.” When do you think that will happen? I get it…when donkeys fly.

Meanwhile, back to the topic…do you think the rank and file minister should be deciding if Mr. Romney is a Christian or do you think, like I do, that the question should be out of the realm of politics?

  5. SlowpokeRodriguez

    Told ya nobody cares!

    1. Maybe they don’t care on here but nationally they care.

  6. SlowpokeRodriguez

    Uh-huh.

    1. So you are denying that there is a problem between Mormon Mitt and the evangelicals?

    Moon-howler :
So you are denying that there is a problem between Mormon Mitt and the evangelicals?

I’m sure there is a problem between Mormon Mitt and evangelical Christians…I’m sure there will be problems yet to come between Mormon Mitt and other special interest groups…wouldn’t surprise me at all. I just don’t know anyone who cares all that much about whether Mitt-for-Brains is a Mormon or what any other religious group thinks about that. Strangly enough, the only person I know who does seem to care, and quite a bit, is my mother (?!?!) She spent the better part of her career close to the CEO of a famous Towson-based company who happens to be a Mormon. She saw something she didn’t like! But heck if I could explain what her problem with Mormons is.

  8. Interesting. I know someone with a similar opinion. In my opinion, he shouldn’t feel as he does. Far be it from me.

I guess I just find it all very strange. I used to not care what religion people were. I think I had better start. It sort of has a secret code attached to it.

Oh and tonight I just watched a video where there was strong implication if you voted for Obama you would end up in Hell. you can only guess which religious group it was.

It all comes down to which bible you “believe” in. Most of those who claim to be “bible believers” (aka real christians) are KJVOers and FIRMLY, WITHOUT QUESTION believe that the KJV is the only true word of God. I can’t wrap my mind around that reasoning, but that’s their belief and they’re sticking to it. So if one belongs to a christian denomination that does not use the KJV 1611 version then they are not christians. Just for fun I follow quite a few blogs of the “real christians” and it is interesting how many were able to put aside their ideas of what constituted a “real christian” to support Santorum, but Romney has them quaking in their boots.
