I thought the Sheriff had fixed his tin cans so that we could leave feed back.  I visited Sherwood Forest to chime in on the topic of the day and low and behold, my comment was no longer there.

Now I appreciate good wit and satire whether I totally agree or not.  I am not sure if I totally agree with the Sheriff but he presents his case in a cogent, humorous way.  He entertains me.  So….where is this going?

I think I shall just put on my monk costume, shave out a bald spot on top of my head, grab myself a few skins of meade and join in the games.  Just call me, Frairess Moon-Tuck for my part.  There is no reason our readers can’t read there and write here.  How creative, a remote blog?  Nahh….a virtual blog?   At any rate, the owl will assist with message delivery.   How to pull this off without getting shot with arrows by Robin Hood and his merry men?

Go to

 read.

Come back to moonhowlings  and comment here.  Oh, I have not asked the Sheriff if he minds doing this.  He might want to shoot you also.  A few arrows never hurt a soul.  His comments now are directed on the Boys and Girls Club gala and he spins quite s story…too good of a story to go without comment.  If the Sheriff gets his ducks in a row and fixes his comment section, then we can draw up another set of plans.  Meanwhile, read, think, comment, drink meade and continue to frolick in the merry month of May.

15 Thoughts to “Addressing the Sheriff of Nottingham: Trouble in Sherwood Forest”

  1. Elena

    Great Read Sheriff!

Here are my thoughts, I love the idea of not giving tax payers top billing as opposed to supervisors.

I don’t mind support for non profits, its the “delivery system” that bothers me!

  2. Yea. I wouldn’t even mind the money going to this organization if the supervisors gave them the money IN THE NAME OF THE TAXPAYERS and then had a drawing for people who wanted to go who live in their district. No, it shouldn’t go to their campaign contributors.

I think what gripes everyone is supervisors acting like the check is out of their personal pockets as they sit down and eat the steak dinner.

  3. Pssst Elena…do you think old Sheriff of Nottingham is going to be pissed that we are commenting on his thunder?

I saw no place for discussion and I think that it is events like this that speak to the issue we have been discussing for over ayear.

  4. Elena

I hope not, I hope he takes it as the compliment we intend it to be! He is doing a fabulous job 🙂

  5. Dang it all!

I thought I had fixed the blog to accept comments. I will have to get my IT grandson to help me.

    Sorry.

I know you have been leading on this issue. The whole business in the last Board meeting sent me over the edge with Stewart et.al., getting on their high horses.

Personally, I don’t have an issue with the programs most of these non-profits are running (the reparatory club did rub me the wrong way), but no matter how little or how unimportant, it adds up when these dogs spend our money to promote themselves.

I think all of this needs to end and then make everything go through the normal budget process.

    But why listen to me.

I can’t even get a blog to work right.

    1. Well, sheriff, we think you have something to say and lots of people are going to listen to you if they can participate. We find that people take ownership if they get to voice an opinion. So we will just be your legs. Keep the ideas coming! I have never been able to get blog spot to work for me either. That’s the reason I hard-ball it with wordpress. Have you tried wordpress.com? We use the software but do our own hosting.

We just want to keep good ideas flowing. Let us know what we can do to help and again, I hope we haven’t overstepped.

  6. Okay, I checked it out and it seems to be working fine.

So are you just “punking” me? (I don’t know exactly what that means, but that is what me grandson suggested might be happening here.)

If there really is an issue with posting a comment on the blog, let me know and I will keep working at it.

No no, we would not do that! We want to make sure that you are getting your message out because you are doing it, not only with facts, but in a way that fun to read!

  8. Elena

O.K., I see. you have to preview your comment first, just hitting “publish” does not work.

  9. Ok Sheriff, I think I have it under control.

I wasn’t scrolling down to where I type in the secret code. You can’t do anything until you put in the spam attack words. (not sure of the right name for that)

Sorry to take up so much space.

Hey everyone!! Go check out the Sheriff’s place. If you are smarter than the moonhowler, you can even post on it now.

  10. AndyH

Is the whole blog written by an anonymous party or did I miss it?

  11. Elena

    Andy,
He calls himself Thad, says he is retired, worked in law enforcement for a couple decades and has lived in pwc for even more decades.

You can comment on his blog, but you must hit the “preview” button first and type in the words before you can publish your comment.

  12. Whether a stroke of genius, or just the blathering of an old man, the Sheriff blogspot has apparently hit a nerve among some. Aside from some bitter comments by mercenaries surely sent by certain members of the BOCS, I have had several who appear to have made sincere offers to help.

If they have something of value to offer, I will surely take them up on it. So the blog will not just be the venting of one old curmudgeon, but perhaps an amalgamation of thinking of many.

It is my hope that the message is far more important than the person serving as voice for it.

  13. There are several solutions. How about all the supervisors sharing a table? then they could chunk in their own money for their own plates?

Hell, I would donate to mine. I think what people resent is that no one ever says, I would like to donate $1000 on behalf of the taxpayers of PWC. That would take a lot of the sting out of it. I actually don’t expect my supervisor to cough up $100 bux here, $200 bux there to put in an appearance at the various functions held for charity thoughout a year.

There has to be a way for them to attend these functions without the appearnace of impropriety.

I don’t like treating our elected officials like they are the first pig at the trough either. Happy medium?? Desperately seeking a happy medium.

We don’t want fundraisers ignored on the other hand.
