The supervisors confer on the rocket docket amendments.

Horan’s response   (click)

That Sheriff of Nottingham is certainly prolific.  He has another post up.  Apparently the letter has been drafted and has been sent to Mr. Candland, addressing at least one of his questions that relates to Reece Collins, the fired staffer.  First off, Ms Horan explains the roll of her position.  I thought in light of past “corrections” of my explanation, I will lift hers from the Sheriff and post it here:

“The overarching duty of my office is to protect the legal position of the County.  That includes the duty to defend adopted resolutions of the Board, where there is a legal defense to be made in the judgment of a competent attorney.  My primary client is the Board, or in a case different to this one, where the Board is no unanimous, the majority of the Board, on any particular issue.  Individual Board members are not the client.  So, there are intricacies to providing legal advice to an individual Board member when that member seeks guidance on the implementation of Board action with which he or she appears not to agree.  As I advised you in our phone conversation I believe your first letter fits into this category.”

I interpret that as a SCREW YOU citizens from the Board of Supervisors, delivered   by their attorney.

I actually thought some of the other verbage posted by the Sheriff was a joke.  Now I am not sure.

Daily Caller reporter heckles President

A reporter from the Daily Caller heckled President Obama during his speech in the Rose Garden about lifting deportations on young illegal immigrants with good grades. This policy clarification changes no laws, it just prioritizes immigration policy and defers deportation for young folks who meet certain criteria.

Meanwhile, what is wrong with society and with press decorum? When would it ever have been acceptable to heckle the president of the United States? Hopefully the Daily Caller will lose all of its press privileges at the White House. The man’s behavior was rude, crude, and socially unacceptable. Any president, regardless of who is in office, should not be treated rudely.

Secrets and Stench

PWC isn’t the only place with secrets and stench.  On Sunday, the Board of  Visitors of the University of Virginia  blindsided the entire University community with the announcement that they had asked President Teresa Sullivan to resign, after only 2 years.  Sullivan is the first woman president at U.VASullivan was popular and innovative and the faculty and stuff is outraged.  Dr. Sullivan knew nothing of her job being in jeopardy and the Board of Visitors has been very secretive about her ouster.  According to the Hook.com:

Just four days after University of Virginia President Teresa Sullivan was ousted in what many are calling a coup by a small faction of the University’s Board of Visitors and a cadre of Wall Street-oriented alumni, the state’s flagship school has been thrown into chaos, and a key figure in what’s become a national headline-grabbing fiasco has resigned his position as chair of the Darden School Foundation Board.

Tracy Thorne-Begland appointed to the bench, despite the General Assembly

From the Washington Post:

RICHMOND — Circuit Court judges have appointed an openly gay prosecutor to the bench just a month after the General Assembly rejected his nomination.

Tracy Thorne-Begland’s appointment to the city District Court judgeship is temporary, lasting only until the next General Assembly session.

The move by the Circuit Court is likely to revive the emotional debate over gay judges that consumed the legislature on the last day of session. It infuriated Del. Robert G. Marshall (R-Prince William), who along with the Family Foundation of Virginia helped convince the General Assembly that Thorne-Begland was unfit for the bench.
