After digesting the gobbledeegoop from Corey via County Attorney Horan, I have come to the conclusion that the Board of County Supervisors are just job killers. All the BS and blather from Corey Stewart about attracting jobs and business to PWC is just that, BS and blather. We still haven’t forgotten all the jobs lost from the double dealing with Eric Finley’s asphalt plant Now we have Pete Candland attempting to hire office staff. Mr. Candland was attempting to hire one Reece Collins. He apparently doesn’t need him full time. I expect if he did however, the BOCS would find some new amendment to throw at him to make that job creation unacceptable. The BOCS, in essence, outlawed hiring someone with exactly Mr. Collin’s attributes. Imagine that!
Yet Jenkins and Stewart have both denied that Candland was targeted via Collins. How strange! You would think then, they would have grandfathered in Mr. Collins if it was totally unintentional. At least if you are going after someone politically, have the cajones to admit it.
The BOCS might think they have won but they just won a battle. They will not win the war. The people of Prince William County will not forget. The people of the Gainesville Magisterial District have longer memories than most. I HATE bullies. Sorry dudes, you were bullies. You bullied the new kid in town. You were given a chance to back off gracefully where no one lost face. You chose not to do it. One of you could have taken him under your wing like Mike May sorta did, and offered to show him the ropes. You didn’t. However, it is patently obvious that one of you all is snoozling up to a disgrntled employee who had to be terminated. That is never wise.
Only play a tough man’s (or woman’s) game with someone who has as much to lose as you do.
The Sheriff is investigating the chits that were used and who is exempt and who isn’t. Toio long for me to explain. Go check out the Sheriff.
Al Alborn’s word on the Candland vs the Board of Supervisors dust up:
I disagree. For those of us who live in the Gainesville District, and that does include, Greg, Elena and me, I doubt if it is over. It sure isn’t for me.
It isn’t for Elena either.
I may disagree with Mr. Candland in the future over issues but on this one point, I am clearly in his camp. He and the people of Gainesville were treated like doggie doodle. Until the BOCS realizes that we out here in GMD aren’t pleased and that we demand to be treated with respect, starting with our supervisor, its pretty hard to move forward.
The Supervisors simply need to repeal their amendments. Then we can start over. A good buddy of mine has told folks it is stupid to start an unnecessary fight with people who buy ink by the barrel.
I think Al is waving the white flag way too soon. There will be no white flags from the moon/wolf banner, that’s for sure and no sucking up. We stop when they stop. The terms of engagement are clear from this encampment.
That’s really all it takes. Finally, DON’T MESS WITH GAINESVILLE.
If Mr. Candland or future Gainesville supervisors should need admonishment, those who follow this blog know that we are more than capable of trumpeting an alarm.
@Moon-howler
Moon, maybe Corey told Al that enough is enough and that if he doesn’t shut up there will be no more appointments to commission and such:

Note also that Ms. Bentz appears again here. Note also that Mr. Buchanan’s company owns the building where staff and the Board want to move the Economic Development Department.
It seems that all departments are represented, for sure. That list just looks incestuous.
If you look at that list, how many people’s last names start with B? The first half of the list only gets through the Ds’. You are toast if your last name falls in the middle. It sounds lazy. Lets go through the alphabetical lists. Someone can do a study. Censored? What do you know about people’s name placements in the alphabet?
NTK, I am laughing at your suggestion but you very well could be correct.
It sounds like Ms. Bentz is paying herself to accept money. Surely this cannot be true.
No, it isn’t true. The fund that Ms. Benz is involved with is for performing arts. The War museum is different funding altogether. Just wanted to clarify that. I want to stress that I am not saying she is doing anything wrong at all.
It goes back to the county allowing situations that appear to be a conflict. They are so eager to nail Pete Candland that they don’t see their own Achilles heel. Perception is reality.
