Constitutional Amendment to overturn Citizens United?

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) has introduced a constitutional amendment directed  at overturning the Supreme Court’s 2010 Citizens United decision on campaign finance. The amendment would also overturn a Supreme Court decision that struck down an Arizona law that allowed public financing of a candidate if their opponent exceeded certain spending limits.

Is this a good idea? Or would it be the first constitutional amendment since the 18th, allowing for prohibition of alcohol, which would restrict freedoms and liberties rather than enhance them – in this case free speech?  What have been the down sides of Citizens United?

Summer Solstice at Stonehenge
It’s officially the longest day of the year.  In Pagan terms, its when the Holly  King overpower the Oak  King and after today, the days will start getting shorter.
Meanwhile, it is only fitting that the heat goes up to close to 100 ° today since it is the first day of summer.
We will resume looking at national parks after this brief interrupion.  Meanwhile, stay cool.  I just don’t go out when it gets this hot.  Does anyone have any secrets for staying cool that they want to share?

That Rascally Sheriff (of Nottingham)

The new kid in town, the Sheriff of Nottingham, is no longer such a newbie.  He seems well entrenched.  I find myself getting up each morning to see what he has in store for us.  Yes.  He is entertaining and I think he is probably what every local government needs.

The board of county supervisors is a body very used to scratching the backs of each other.  They will stab but when it comes to deal cutting, you can pretty much count on cooperation…to a fault.  Then there are the pay backs.  This one and that one will contribute to campaigns.  Corey always has something going so he is probably  has the most expertise at this shell game.

Cousin Michelle

What an amazing find. Many southerners have black relatives. It’s just a fact of life. For many of us, just the slavery issue is difficult. I don’t think I have white guilt because I didn’t own slaves. I don’t think I have white guilt over killing Indians either. I didn’t kill any Indians. However, not personalizing the guilt doesn’t mean that we don’t wish things had been different.–very different.

In the case of  Michelle Obama’s ancestors, the white relatives don’t really know if the union was concensual, forced, or “dutiful.” None of the choices are good. Of course, they will never know.  That’s a pretty difficult thing to have to acknowledge.
