Why Medicare?

The Republicans have shot themselves in the foot right out of the gate.  Why has the debate gone to the discussion of Medicare?  Americans love their Medicare.  My own grandmother threatened to “slit my throat” over it  (still not sure why).  1946 is the first year of the baby boomer.  Guess what happened in 2011?  The first babyboomers “came of age”–they became 65 and eligible for Medicare.

Teresa Sullivan: After the UVA Crisis

The crisis that hit UVA last June is now over.  Rector Dragas has apologized to Sullivan and the Board of Visitors, new board members are in place, and yet there is still that edge…that edge things have when everyone is playing at making nice but noses are still out of joint.

Last June, UVA, Virginia’s Harvard of the South was in crisis because popular  President  Teresa Sullivan got the boot, out of the clear blue.  Rector Dregas was less than honest in her reporting.  She had led the press and President Sullivan to believe the board was unanimous in its decision to can Sullivan when in fact, some of the board of visitors didn’t know anything about it.

Horse-gate: bullying, arm-twisting and conflict of interest

I just finished making my blog rounds this morning.   This BOCS flicking us off is not going to go away.   I still am shocked that the bloggers were accused of bullying and arm twisting by Corey Stewart.  Corey, I remember when you were the king of bullying and arm-twisting and used some of the bloggers to deliver your message(s).  It hasn’t been that long ago.  I have folders full of examples.  Shall I trot those out?  You probably need to rein in your urge to say whatever comes to your mind.
