Jon Stewart addresses the problem of Biden’s foot in mouth disease and then reminds Republicans that they, too, participate in politics of pesonal destruction.
But do the Republicans really own the moral high road? Can they not hear the sound of their own vitriol?
It appears they beleve they do. What appears to scare some Republicans is that there may be some diversity in their party. “No compromise” and “No room for moderates” is pretty amusing.
One “friend” of mine absolutely believes it. Then again, I’m not sure what she really believes because her
Entire belief system is based on how she appears to others. Then again there are some Democrats who believe they have the corner on moral outrage against business (Greed), the poor and the oppressed.
Anyone who grouses about the moral high road from either party sounds exactly the same to me. So perhaps it’s personality – regardless of party.
Are you suggesting that the Big Tent isn’t as big as we once thought it was?
6 more Marines dead in Afghanistan. Yet we talk about Joe Biden tripping over his tongue.
It makes me sick.
We need to get the hell out of there. It is over! We need to talk about getting out of Afghanistan immediately.
I believe we are going to find out that the Family Research Council shooting was indeed a hate crime and very much politically motivated. that is absolutely dead wrong. The shooter was a member of the LTG community in DC and he arrived with a Chick-Fil-A bag. Let the finger pointing begin.
It should be a reminder that everything we say can influence others.
Clearly, but I really think its personality which is a bit more complex than party. The big tent took a nose dive as more gays opened up. Watched that shift from a front row seat when my relatives Midwest republican family imploded over a son. Fortunately thay all got past it and their kalaidascope moved a few notches.
We need to take better care of them when they come home. What I’ve heard and seen about care and concern after return is terrible. Couple of good local wounded warrior charities.
There is little care and concern if what goes on overseas doesn’t directly affect you or your family. Life here goes on unrelated to those involved. It is a cold hard fact. If people here felt that those being fought against were truly a threat, then things would probably be different, but that notion has long passed it seems. People seem to dwell only on what the media puts in front of their faces. No war coverage, no cares.
Totally agree SA. I think we have always been too far removed from those Middle East war. We didn’t have to feel one ounce of pain unless we had friends or family directly involved.
@Lyssa
I think that tent got smaller too as the Republican party got dragged further and further to the right. There is no place, for example, for anyone dealng with encouraging reproductive rights. There certainly used to be even 25 years ago. Stem cell, end of life issues aren’t included. There is no discussion allowed now about how far we allow region to mingle with the secular…
Right has shifted was far right. Left …I am not sure about. I know this. I have not changed on much in 25 years. Back then, no one would have thought to call me a liberal unless they were drunk. Now I am considered one.
Local charity called Azaela seems to do a good job. No family military – I’ve learned a lot living here. Neighbors and fellow churchgoers have been back and forth mostly officers but I see those young families appear suddenly without a parent and my heart goes out to them hoping they come back whole and safe. These folks should be our top priority.
Didn’t Marty spearhead an initative with another young man getting a house remodled to accommodate his injuries?
Is this it?

Tell us more what they do please.
I recall that. So back to your topic – talk is just so cheap – I say personality over party. Some still believe its what you say or say you believe not good works that matter. I vote for talk less and do more.
I’m a little confused at how we are discussing any politician having a moral high road. Oxymoron.
So why has Obama lacked the cajones to get us out of Afghanistan?
is that what it takes? Could have fooled me.
Azalea Charities is a fine outfit, and a member of the Veterans Committee of the Prince William Commission on Aging. They support to Wounded Warriors covers a broad range of what they do…two examples from their website are providing a service dog and an accessible home. The role of Marty Nohe and the house is on the press release from the Northern Virginia Fuller Center for Housing (Fullers were one of the founders of the original Habitat for Humanity). Azalea Charities is also a partner with the Quality of Life Foundation.
Fingerpointing is very much a liberal/progressive thing. Conservatives don’t waste time with it.
Have you absolutely nothing productive to say, slowpoke? Isd today gadfly day?
Your remarks are absolutely living proof of the fact that it does no good to be fair and to attempt to have a discussion.
I think we can all agree that we shouldn’t shoot each other over political disagreements. Somehow you have managed to take civil discourse on a serious manner and turn it a-hole real fast. Perhaps it is time for that vacation…..
@SlowpokeRodriguez
Good point. I only believe Alec Trebek.
Alright…something positive…I am most pleased with Biden’s campaign performance. May he never change!
