The GOP dodges a bullet

Its political convention time again.  The GOP dodged an obvious bullet as Hurricane Issac sailed past the Tampa area which the convention will be held.

The news stations are asking Americans if political conventions are becoming a thing of the past.  The networks no longer televise the conventions like in the good old days.  Is the political convention just a see and be seen venture nowadays?  Lots of money is spent.  Will political animals be content to compress their conventions to a day or two?

My guess is that compression of any convention would get in the way of some serious partying and elbow rubbing and that nothing will change.

Meanwhile, how about those hurricanes.  Has we dodged the hurricane bullet or is there more to come this September and October?

What makes Ryan’s claims regarding the Janesville GM plant even more ridiculous is that without the President’s restructuring of GM, ALL of the GM workers would be out of a job, not just Janesville, which was a victim of lagging truck and SUV sales. To Ryan’s credit, he voted FOR the GM and Chrysler bailouts, but Romney wouldn’t have. PLEASE don’t reply that GM could have been dealt with through a normal bankruptcy procedure, as Mitt Romney has claimed. There was NO private funding available at the time, and without the bailout GM and Chrysler would have died, along with millions of jobs.

Yeah, maybe Obama promised more than he could deliver, but he saved the American auto industry and a whole lot of midwestern jobs. Not bad for a Muslim, freedom-hating, anti-colonial American apologist…

All presidential candidates promise more than they can deliver. Their ability to deliver is always hampered by Congress and world conditions.

Is it a lie, no. Its a wish list, regardless of who is running.

Middleman is right. Obama did save the auto industry. He will eventually receive credit for his accomplishments.

Those were very scary times. He took the risk and he accomplished a great deal in record time.
