Remember that kids are back at school and to please drive carefully.  Kids are impetuous and don’t often look where they are going.  They hop, skip, jump, and dart into streets.  If you see a kid, just assume he or she is going to do something suicidal, up the ante if the child is male.

Meanwhile, if those bus lights are flashing, stop.  Don’t try to race around it.  They will turn you in.  They = bus drivers.

Driveways are killers.  Remember to check not just your mirrors but turn your neck and look for kids.  They are often low to the ground.

Meanwhile, when does the next storm come in?

We’re going to beat the republicans’ butts off this year.

Can you beat me off first?

Just so we’re clear where this kind of talk comes from:

Big jump today in stocks, up 250 points or so! Good times are just around the corner! Are we better off today than four years ago? Hell yeah!

  4. @Starryflights
Yep. Just as long as governments keep buying up bonds…..

I’m sure that’s going to end well.

Who wants to explain to doofus here that the market is up on expectation of lousy Obama job numbers?

    1. @Pokie, actually something happened in the European market. I didnt pay much attention. It was too much fun watching the bulls charge.

  6. Emma

@Moon-howler “I doubt if you could have pulled the lever for Obama. I am betting your arm would have fallen off. Am I right?”

    No, you’re wrong on that.

    1. Would you have held your nose? I thought you hated him.

  7. Zach Wahls is up now talking about being raised by his 2 moms. He said he was awesome at remembering to put the seat down.

He was actually terrific. He spoke about loving families rather than traditional families. The LGT folks in the audience went wild. Hard to imagine what it must feel like to be that close to something that heretofore has been illusive and beyond anything you could hope for.

  8. Slowpoke was right about one thing–the DNC entertainment is great.

Not sure of the reason but pokie might be on to something.

  9. Emma

@Moon-howler Disagreement is not synonymous with hate.

Yes, I do believe the Europeans are buying up their own debt. Same difference, doesn’t solve the problem, just ensures a bigger bump at the end.

  11. SlowpokeRodriguez

Mary J Blige, Foo Fighters….Wow! Not too shabby!

  12. SlowpokeRodriguez

Oh, I’ve got both boys by myself tonight, so I can’t pay too close attention….have Obama’s Angels going on yet? Scarlett Johansson, etc?

  13. Hahahahahaha….Barney Frank called the Log Cabin Republicans “Uncle Toms.”

    http://washingtonexaminer.com/barney-frank-calls-gay-republican-group-uncle-toms/article/2507236#.UEk9saPdtQI

    Read the replies…..

    My favorite:
    Marty Keller
As a Log Cabin founder, all I’ve got to say is, “HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA,” and, oh yes, how’s that Fannie Mae doing, Congressman?

    1. That is the funniest thing I have heard all day. Uncle Toms!!!! LOL LOL LOL Bwaaaahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahaha

      There went the screen.

He is right. Go Barney go!

  14. Suicide by military members has been mentioned here so I thought that I would post this link.
    http://www.mivf.org/blog/the-8000-mile-sniper-shot/

    Excerpts:

“I implore my fellow warriors: seeking help is not weakness. Do not internalize your issues for the peril in doing so far outweighs the slim chance of coming out unscathed,” Barnes said. “Your family, friends, and unit will suffer in your absence in ways we many times do not know… There are so many of us that will lay our lives down for one another, asking for a few minutes of someone’s time is a small price we will all pay to see you after the next sunrise.”

  15. Why doesn’t the DNC want the press to interview their politicians? Why don’t they want their message reaching out to ALL Americans? Don’t they have confidence in their ideas, principles, and message? Why play a scam on people that PAID THEM to be there?

    http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/316111/thought-police-patrol-conventions-radio-row-john-fund

If I was leaning Democrat, I’d wonder why they did this.

  16. Guess I won’t go in the positive room to make this statement.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan giving the closing prayer was quite a shock. Talk about the Berrigan brothers leading the march off to war. 🙄

Here is the reasoning. I could see eyes rolling behind closed lids.

  17. @Cargosquid

Thank you for that post. It is very important.

  18. @Cargo, here is the foo fighter song from DNC. I think it is called My Hero:

Stocks rose because jobless claims fell sharply, along with a sharp rise in hiring, both unexpected. For most normal Ameicans, this is good news. Only unpatriotic freaks take this as bad news.

    Uhhhhhh, Yeah.

  21. I wonder if this exercise has anything to do with this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/09/06/homeland-security-warns-the-zombies-are-coming_n_1862768.html?1346969251&icid=maing-grid7|main5|dl4|sec1_lnk3%26pLid%3D202151

    What AREN’T they telling us?

  22. August Jobs: U-3:8.1% In other words…not much change. April had the same.
    U:6 14.7%

Now…I wonder how much that’s going to be revised because ALL of them get revised.

  23. http://finance.yahoo.com/news/us-economy-adds-96k-jobs-123111662.html
We need about 150,000 new jobs / month to break even to keep up with population growth.

Not getting it. We added, unrevised, 96K jobs.

“The unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent from 8.3 percent in July, the Labor Department said Friday. But that was only because more people gave up looking for work. The government only counts people as unemployed if they are actively searching.”

“The government also said 41,000 fewer jobs were created in July and June than first estimated. The economy has added just 139,000 jobs a month since the beginning of the year, below 2011’s average of 153,000.”

“Dow Jones industrial futures, which had been up before the report, fell soon after it was released. ”

    So…..what’s the solution?

  24. Cato the Elder

Actually, this celebrity would have been more appropriate for the DNC: http://thelookingspoon.com/tlsimages/blog/2012/dnc2012/dnc_2012_opening_prayer.jpg

  25. Does anyone ELSE remember someone quoting in 2008 that high unemployment was the “new normal?” That we were going to be Europe where 7%+ unemployment is considered normal?

    http://reason.com/archives/2012/05/10/high-unemployment-the-new-normal/1
This is why we need to do something very radical to jump start the economies of the world.

  26. 96,000 new jobs.

Unemployment dropped from 8.3% to 8.1%

Great cheering at the bar in Charlotte.

  27. @Cargosquid

Every little bit helps. The glass is half empty or the glass is half full. Don’t be an Eeyore.

  28. The glass is not half empty OR half full.

    The glass is being underutilized.

368,000 people fall out of the work force! YIPPEEE!!! Happy Days are Here Again!

  30. Here’s something that was missed by all the major networks.

Sen. Feinstein will attempt to ban America’s most popular rifle….along with all the others just like it…..if Obama wins a second term.

    http://www.scpr.org/news/2012/09/05/34168/senator-feinstein-says-shell-reintroduce-gun-legis/

Wonder how that’s going to go over in flyover country?

    1. What difference does it make who wins as far as the rifle goes?

  31. @Moon-howler
If Romney wins, he won’t go after guns and will, probably, be passively protective.

If Obama wins, Feinstein and others will push Obama to ban guns or enact gun control because he has nothing to lose by doing so.

    1. Bullshit. Has he even mentioned guns? No. You have absolutely nothing to base this statement on other than your own biases against Obama.

How can you ask for credibility making statements like that?

  32. Steve Randolph

“Republicans chose Romney to be their nominee, as the
Democrats chose Kerry in 2004, in the belief
that other people would like him better than than they do.”

Who’s coming after my guns??????!!!!! They can have them. Barrel first and from my cold dead hands!!

  34. Emma

Chris Matthews, after Clinton’s convention speech:

“I always figured that if Bill Clinton landed on Mars, he would know how to do it with them, he would know how to reproduce, he would know everything. He’d just instinctively know how to talk to people.”

Some people wear their tinfoil hats proudly, don’t they?

  35. Does anyone else use http://www.showtimeanything.com? If so, does it go into a spin zone for hours?

  36. @Emma

Works for me. Clinton could talk his way out of a wet paper bag.

Interesting. I need to read up on this thing but it seems that to fight her tax bill they are introducing a 10th Amendment argument against DOMA and saying that the federales don’t get to pick who can and cannot be married but that its a power of the states.

Interesting. I like that. That tickles me.
