I got an email today with a request.  I will share it:

How about a blog thread on what’s irking us the most about the election.  Most people say the negative TV ads.  I don’t care about those.  I just mentally tune them out.  However, I’m getting constant calls, often robocalls, from pollsters, or at least people claiming to be pollsters.  I assume some of them are.  I refuse to answer and hang up.  That’s one Romney vote not counted in the poll.

That seems like a fair topic.  Mr. Howler got one last night that said they would only take 15 minutes.  Get serious.  I had one that started off with a lie about Obama.  I cursed that person.  Do they want MY opinion or not.

Have at it.  The person who suggested it can tell on themselves, or not.

I’m just saturated with it. And being in VA, the stinkin’ phone rings constantly.

  2. It really does. I have started with a quick answer and then quick hang up, just so it stops.

My question is, what about the people with just cell phones?

Is that making an invisible demographic?

  3. @SlowpokeRodriguez

Cousin Pokie? yes Cousin Moon Mouse.

I have a confession. I finally caved on something and it wasn’t iphone 5. I decided to stick with droid. Bigger cousin purchase.

I’m bugged by the nitpicking while the Middle East blows up. Now I’m supposed to be all upset that Romney said something about Obama voters back in May. Last week I was supposed to be all upset that Romney spoke up too soon after the Benghazi attacks. Excuse me, but WHAT ABOUT THE BENGHAZI ATTACKS? What are these two guys going to do? What about seriously trying to achieve energy independence so we can just walk away from all of this Mideast nonsense, even if that means drill, baby, drill? What about the economy and jobs? I’m dreading that the debate may be just another nitpick-a-thon. The ominous commercials are idiotic on both sides.

    There, I feel better.

    1. Emma, its a pretty significant ‘thing’ that he has shown us about himself. You said that you felt like you didn’t know him. Well….he doesn’t care much for commoners I guess.

I don’t know what to do about the middle east blowing up. I wish I did. I am not going to admit to how many years I have watched it blow up.

Eve of Destruction is still what I think of…

There are senate hearings going on. Liebermann is monotoning everyone to death.

Not sure those 2 guys were even assigned at Benghazi. That seems to be a mystery.

Whose job is it to request security?

I kept TV off for a few weeks or at least soundless. Then I had to watch the Romney train wreck…

  5. I am sort of riding it out now. Emma, I felt like you did before the conventions.

Just think Grey Goose if it comes to that.

You may not believe this because you probably think it is a case of self loathing…but I dislike the far left also. I thought years later I would relax on the “hippie” generation. I didn’t. I still thought they were the AH contingency. It wasn’t content that I found so abhorrent. It was just them.

  6. Need to Know

I confess. ’twas me who suggested the topic.

I’m still teetering….scared of the a-americans like Koch Bros getting a bigger foothold, scared of drowning in debt and scared of failures in international relations.

    1. At what point does money no longer matter in an election? Is there a limit?

  8. Lyssa

Not in this one. It’s like buying grades…. I think following the money is what matters. Follow Roves PAC and where is begins to flow and where it stops.

    @Emma

So a Del’s with a hit of grey goose?

    @Emma,

There is a good pic going around FB of the Middle East burning while Obama points at Romney and says Look!! Over there!! And Romney is holding up a sign that says 47% Vote for Obama.

Personally, I don’t care if the ME blows up. Maybe it’ll mean that Obama has to actually man up and learn that apologies only go so far. He had 4 years. Lets see what happens the next 4 years… If he’ll man up and own it or if he’ll just blame Bush..again.

  11. Emma

@marinm I’ve seen that pic. That says it all for me.

  12. Emma

@Lyssa Now you’ve sweetened the deal!

  13. Lyssa, are you going to help Emma through this also?

  14. Lyssa

Yes. You haven’t lived until you’ve had a frozen Del’s. I am behind on the decision making though. Some will vote and drink after. I might drink first and vote after. It’s a terrible burden placed upon us Americans to be held accountable for our vote.

What you need and what all of us will need if Obama is reelected is a prepper level supply of tradditional apple pie moonshine. Recipies are available on line. Used medicinally, as a sterilizer at 191 proof or for easy sipping, it really is a key part of your next 4 year survival plan.

What irks me: this whole process has gone on way too long…years and years instead of the days we Boomers and Older will remember of maybe starting six months out. The “MEGO” factor is setting (MEGO = My Eyes Glaze Over).

The spending is out of control – read an interesting little factoid more money has been dropped into the campaigns of the last two years than to the nonprofits who are serving people, and struggling to provide the services. Meals on Wheels nationally is really taking a hit.

Robocalls – and now even creeping into the cell phone. Ya just got to love automation…stick in an auto-dialer than can work through every phone number permentation and overload begins.

Reaching the point even booze ain’t helping…LOL!

    1. @Ray

Part of the problem is that Congress is always campaigning. Always. The President, whoever he is, spends 2 years campaigning. How do you ever get anything donw if you are always running for office.

The amouont of money dumped into getting elected is simply obscene. Throw in Citizens United and we are sunk.

Every time I stop watching politics because it makes me so sick, I get blind-sided by some nefarious deed.

  17. Ray Beverage

And one more thing – heaven forbid some word or group is left out of a speech, and everybody goes berserk. All the politicians start the “he said, she said” banter, and every pundit analyzes it for 30 minutes instead of the two minutes it is worth.

  18. Lyssa

Is MEGO in the urban dictionary yet?! I like it!!
