7 Thoughts to “Meet Adam Cook–not your average Democrat”

Nice guy, cute couple. Basically zero policy information, except for a snippet about paying for education. Problem is, it could be a Koi in a pond in a Japanese restaurant. If the Koi had a D behind its name (Benny the Fish – D), he’d have your vote.

Slow, have you heard the psychological term “projection” ? well, you are doing it. It is YOU who would vote for an R if it were a Koi. You see, BOTH Moon and I have voted R in our lives, we can discern policy and party. These days, the R’s have so many nut wings, they have left people in their own party disenfranchised, forget those who lean center left, what about those who lean center right?!

Adam Cooke is a decent man, maybe, these days, in politics, that is enough.

Since becoming politically aware, I have often noted (on this blog and Anti-BVBL before) that liberals are maybe the perfect example of projection. In practically every case, they are themselves guilty of the sin they cast out. Usually it’s “hatred”, or “intolerance”. So yes, I’ve discussed how the left suffers from chronic projection for years.

Unfortunately, the circumstances under which I’d vote for a Democrat isn’t anywhere close to me. I’d vote for any Democrat running against Lindsey Graham, or John McCain. Maybe the coolest Democrat to have ever run for office was in South Carolina in 2008, running against Sen DeMint. Now THAT was a cool Democrat!

Thank you for posting the video on candidate Adam Cook. Adam seems like a likable and intelligent man. I like the way he encourages dialogue on the future of our country.

My concern about Adam Cook is his Calvary Chapel religious background. Calvary Chapel churches are all loosely affiliated but their headquarters are in Costa Mesa, California. I spent a year attending Calvary Chapel of Manassas on Brentsville Road in Prince William County from 2007-2008. In my opinion, the environment of Calvary Chapel churches is great for men but very oppressive to women and children.

During my year of attendance at Calvary Chapel of Manassas, I did not ONCE hear a woman speak during service, not even to read the announcements (thus literally following the New Testament Apostle Paul’s command that women be silent in church). Wives are expected to OBEY their husbands in everything, not just submit to their husbands or be cooperative and helpful. Biblical marriage is supposed to be a beautiful model mirroring Jesus Christ’s relationship with the church but at Calvary Chapel of Manassas the marriages felt oppressive with the husband having all the power and the wife having nothing, almost like she was a child.

Calvary Chapel of Manassas also advocates spanking children with rods and boards. Yes, I am literally talking about hitting your small children with sticks. Plus, Calvary Chapel of Manassas never bothers to warn parents that what they are teaching is ILLEGAL in Virginia and can get you in trouble with Social Services. In Virginia, it is legal to spank your children on their behind with an open hand but not with any object or a closed fist.

See my review of Calvary Chapel of Manassas at http://www.yelp.com/biz/calvary-chapel-of-manassas-manassas

On adamcook2012.com under the Meet Adam section, the last line of that paragraph says that Adam and his wife are active in their church community but never says which church they are attending. What does that church believe about women, children, spanking with the rod, and obedience in marriage? The answers to those questions are not automatic disqualifiers but I would simply like to know.

    1. Welcome janelle. I always thought that “calvary” was just the term used as a name where Christ was crucified. I didn’t realize it was a movement.

If you are concerned I would call the campaign and simply ask. While there is no religious test for office, you are certainly within your rights to vote or not vote for someone belonging to certain churches.

What you described certainly sounds repressive. Some people like that. Shudder.
