Let the games begin.  How nasty will it get?  Who knows.  We can control a lot of the nasty that goes on around us with our remote and our feet.

How was that first week of school for the kiddlies?  Hopefully everyone was fired up and ready to go.  One little Howlet is playing soccer.  She thinks she is cool.

I am just glad the conventions are over.  Now I can turn off the TV.

Mr. Goode could be Mr. BAD for the GOP

Oh Dear God, its all up to Ken Cuccinelli whether or not Virgil Goode stays on the presidential  ballot.  You know the answer already.  I am betting on the Lucy trick.  Yes, Ken Cuccinelli promises to be fair and unbiased.  Watch him snatch the ballot  out from under Virgil Goode faster than Lucy snatches the football out from under Charlie Brown.

“Absolutely Objective” and Ken Cuccinelli are just 2 terms that don’t seem to go together.   Oil and Water.  Fire and Ice. Cuccinelli supports Romney.  He was one of his chief cheer leaders at the GOP Convention.   I am not sure *I* could be completely objective.   Cuccinelli is known for playing loose with political ethics for causes he believe correct.  He even tried to change the State Seal of Virginia because Lady Virtue had an exposed breast (such as it was) peeping out from under her tunic.

The State Board of Elections says Virgil Goode stays on the ballot but Ken Cuccinelli owns the power.

Rachel Maddow is right.  Ken Cuccinelli and Virgil Goode take on national importance.  This isn’t an ordinary year.  Mr. Goode could be Mr.  BAD for the GOP.

Richmond Times Dispatch:

Activists on both sides of the abortion debate are rallying their troops for a Virginia Board of Health meeting next week that could determine the future of many of the state’s 20 abortion clinics.

Abortion-rights advocates packed the board’s meeting in June and cheered when the board stripped from the proposed regulations a hotly contested provision requiring all clinics to meet the same strict architectural standards as newly constructed hospitals. They claimed the provision would require costly renovations that would force most clinics to close.

The following month, Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli refused to certify the regulations. Cuccinelli said the board overstepped its authority because legislation passed by the General Assembly requiring the licensure and regulation of abortion clinics specifically mandated the strict building standards.

Highway Robbery

Rep. Frank Wolf has long protested the cost of driving on The Greenway and he called it, highway robbery. Angela Petry who lives in West Virginia drives The Greenway daily and is outraged over the price–$5.55 each way. She wrote her protest song. The Greenway is the only privately owned road in Virginia. So much for private ownership of roads. I will just say on my old government own highway.

Does that make me a socialist?

Sorry about the quality of the video.  Its a listen not look kinda video.  If someone wants to tell me how to fix it, I will.

Where were the troops? Where was Afghanistan?

Romney, Don’t forget our troops!

The Democrats are definitely the tough guys in the room now.  They were the ones chanting USA USA USA.  The Democrats were the ones stressing Made In America. The Democrats recognized our troops who are in harm’s way.

Notably missing from Republican speeches was the mention of bringing home our troops and ending the longest war in American history.  Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech totally omitted any mention of our troops or  the war in Afghanistan despite the fact that American troops are still in harm’s way.  What was he thinking?

Michelle Obama: The First Lady personalizes her vision

First Lady, Michelle Obama, brought a person, refined, regal story to the microphone. Perhaps her speech is the best FL speech I have heard in my lifetime and  I have been through a LOT of first ladies.

Ann Romney also did a wonderful job.  She and Ann ought to team up and run for office.

Is it fair to compare the two ladies?  Both have very different backgrounds.  Their life stories are different.  Both are mothers.  Both are strong women married to powerful men.

Remember that kids are back at school and to please drive carefully.  Kids are impetuous and don’t often look where they are going.  They hop, skip, jump, and dart into streets.  If you see a kid, just assume he or she is going to do something suicidal, up the ante if the child is male.

Meanwhile, if those bus lights are flashing, stop.  Don’t try to race around it.  They will turn you in.  They = bus drivers.

Driveways are killers.  Remember to check not just your mirrors but turn your neck and look for kids.  They are often low to the ground.

Meanwhile, when does the next storm come in?

E-Code (of Behavior)? PW schools are operating on the cheap

Code of Behavior, just don’t ask for your own copy

From the Superintendent of Schools, Prince William County,  Dr. Walts:

This is the first year that the COB is being distributed primarily online, saving significant educational funds.

Print copies are available only upon request. Still, it is necessary that a parent or guardian for every student complete, sign, and

return the form sent home the first week of school, acknowledging COB content and availability. If you do not have a form, it

may be obtained—along with other important documents—by request at your child’s school office; or on the pwcs.edu Web site, by

clicking the home page button for Code of Behavior/Forms.

I am disgusted that Prince William County Schools have not prioritized this document.   This document should be kept in every students binder all year long.  It should be in a place where it can be whipped out at a moment’s notice for reference, either by an individual or a group or a class.  Without easily accessible rules, it is difficult to insist on enforcement.

Morris Davis: The controversy surrounding the book on the Bin Laden raid

Moe explains the process that one goes through upon exiting the military as far as what you are and are not able to do.  He says there is no time limit on classified information.

Matt Bissonnette is a former navy seal who claims the book, “No Easy Day,” is not political.  Moe Davis says the author clearly knew he was violating the exit terms of agreement–regulations he signed.    Davis also states that the book is clearly political.

[Correction:  The book will be released 9/11/12.  It is a best seller on Amazon in pre-sales].

The book has been released and is already a best seller on Amazon.  It was not vetted.  It needed to be.   It is undetermined if Bissonnette will be prosecuted.  Should he be punished?  Is he a traitor or a hero?  Did he leak classified information?  This issue will probably be argued for a decade.

Meanwhile, Colonel Davis sees the book as a lose/lose situation for the Obama administration.
