Politico.com:

Sarah Palin used what some consider a racially derogatory term in a posting on Facebook on Wednesday that said President Barack Obama’s “shuck and jive shtick” lies must end regarding last month’s attack at a U.S. post in Benghazi, Libya.

“Why the lies? Why the cover up? Why the dissembling about the cause of the murder of our ambassador on the anniversary of the worst terrorist attacks on American soil? We deserve answers to this. President Obama’s shuck and jive shtick with these Benghazi lies must end,” the former GOP Alaska governor and 2008 vice presidential candidate wrote. (on Facebook)

Oh dear God, tell me she didn’t just say “shuck and jive” in reference to the President.  I have known since I was 6 years old that “shuck and jive”  is an incredibly racist remark.  Why would she do that?  Why would she start hurling racist expressions at a sitting president of the United States?  This is further proof that  Sarah Palin was totally unfit to serve as Vice President (I will now say any elected office.) and that racism is very much a part of the attacks on President Obama with some people, including Sarah Palin.

Despite the fact that Palin is no longer running for office or in office, she still is a party fair haired child.  She is simply an embarrassment.  What was she thinking?  is she truly this ignorant?  Palin owes President Obama a written and verbal public apology.

For the record, “shuck and jive”  isn’t just what some would consider racist.  It is universally known to be racially derogatory and it has been for centuries.   There really is no excusing or making an excuse to get out of this one.

Hanging the President in effigy is still in vogue.  However, the Noose is a universal sign of racial threat by white people.

Meanwhile, in North Carolina, in an unrelated incident, an activie duty airman saw a mannequin of President Obama with a noose around his neck.  I first got wind of this situation from my aunt on Facebook.  I am horrified.  I am horrified that people are emboldened enough to publically display things like this.  I thought we had left that behavior on the dump some 50 years ago when freedom riders were killed.  I guess not.  I don’t think it is possible to explain these cases away and convince anyone it isn’t racism at play.  That’s simply what it is.

ONTD Political:

Corey Dixon was leaving the North Carolina State Fair on Saturday when she spotted a truck full of mannequins hanging from nooses, including one that looks like President Barack Obama.

I love Sarah Palin! Go, Sarah!!

    1. since you love her, take her under your wing and get her to not make racist remarks. That really was totally unacceptable. Shuck and jive just isn’t something you say…especially about anyone black.

you know it and I know it. If you find it acceptable, you know that that makes you.

  2. Second Alamo

Not that I’m for the noose thing, (that admittedly conjures up the racist past) but were there white people also hanging around? It appears there may have been, but to naturally support the claim of racism you would then only show the Obama figure. Obviously the photo was cropped. Would everyone have felt better if they were hanging from meat hooks?

    1. No. Meat hooks wouldnt work either but….it wouldn’t quite conjure up the same imagine. I cropped the pic so it would fit. Is that what you are talking about? I left the link.

  3. Oh nooooooo! Shuck and jive! Whatever shall we do?

Yes. She should or could have used different words.
But you are going to be busy. Where’s the outrage for all the other users of Shuck and Jive?
    Chris Matthews
    Jay Carney
    Andrew Cuomo

    http://newsbusters.org/blogs/scott-whitlock/2012/10/24/chris-matthews-who-used-phrase-shuck-and-jive-now-calls-sarah-palin-

Apparently, shuck and jive is only racist when conservatives say it.

  4. Oh, and where’s the criticism for the actual outrage? You know…the lying and cover up by the President and his administration? I’d think THAT might trump a little shuckin’ n jivin’ by Palin.

  5. Second Alamo

No, you cropped the photo to emphasize Obama. Plenty of white space on the sides there. Now, it would have been racist if he had painted the mannequin to look like Al Jolson singing Mammy!

    1. I try to keep the pics small on here. Otherwise the pages get too long.

You can link and see the whole thing that I saw. It is a lot of places.

  6. blue

Huckster, is that racist? Lots of democratic hucksters so I don’t imagine it is.

    1. Since you are hell-bent on name calling, huckster if fairly innocuous compared to other words.

  7. Need to Know

That photo is offensive and in bad taste. No Republican should defend anyone who would conjure up such a thing in any way.

I notice that Politico turns to the Urban Dictionary as a source. If you’re looking to get distracted some day, the Urban Dictionary is your destination!! Last time I used it, I had walked into a US Senate building men’s room toilet and had to look up “cave painting”. The Urban Dictionary is your one-stop shop for laughs!!

    1. What does it mean? re cave painting. If it is going to gross me out, just tell me I dont want to know.

  9. SlowpokeRodriguez

    Moon-howler :
you know it and I know it. If you find it acceptable, you know that that makes you.

I know exactly what that makes me…..your average voter sick to death of the left’s race-baiting, racial demagoguery, and just plain racism.

    1. I disagree. Most people other than some rednecks know better than to say shuck and jive. I was minding my own business and I rarely call people racists. It offends me to have to do so. But hell, wheen you get into shuck and jive…well, there is no mistaken than. Its running right up to the hooded sheets and pointed hats brigade and quickly putting on the brakes.

i am tired of you all making up excuses for loutish behavior. Jesus you all have a pack of idiots out there. You have some clown saying rape is God’s will, you have Palin saying the POTUS is jiving and shucking, you have some other AH a few weeks back talking about “legitimate rape.”

The democrats have Moran’s toad son talking to some jerk about forging ballots…because he got to be THE MAN. What an idiot. No one is whining over it. He deserves what he got.

I just want you all to own some of this stuff and tell the fools to stop. Romney won’t even disavow Mr. “God’s Will” Mourdock.
Men needs to stop talking about women’s reproduction. That might be a starting place because every time one of them starts up, he steps on his your know what.

  10. SlowpokeRodriguez

And I’m just as sick and tired of “you can’t say this, you can’t say that”. I’m done with it. The left has overplayed their hand with this. Romney disavowed the remark Mourdock made, but as I pointed out, disavowing the man is Indiana’s business. People are waking up and they’ll see through this leftist “political-correctness” horsecrap while millions can’t find work. We the people are simply not impressed. You’ll get good bites out of your hyper-left companions, though. Have fun!!

    1. And you all want to tape Biden’s mouth? bwaaahahahahaha

Keep it up. Say what you want. It will be called out.

Your just all pissy because you don’t know what to do with the racists and misogynists in your party who obviouslyt just don’t know any better. Let’s take bets on which one of your rape baiters says that the wimmins was probably askin’ for it first.

This has been an interesting election cycle for usre. I just wish it were over.

  11. SlowpokeRodriguez

Look at the bright side….I just realized there was ANOTHER week in between now and when I thought the election would be. I’m looking forward to it being over.

  12. SlowpokeRodriguez

And let me say: NOBODY wants to tape Biden’s mouth shut. I’d have a camera and live mic on him 24/7 if I could. He told an Ohio crowd yesterday: “all the ads they’re running here in Iowa”. You couldn’t pay me enough to tape Biden’s mouth shut!

  13. Starryflights

It is good that Sara Palin lost her election in 2008 and quit her job as governor of Alaska. She is unfit for public office.

  14. punchak

How could an ALASKAN possibly know. what was it again?

    1. I can’t imagine any American wasn’t aware of that expression.

  15. SlowpokeRodriguez

    Starryflights :
It is good that Sara Palin lost her election in 2008 and quit her job as governor of Alaska. She is unfit for public office.

    Uggh…..This…GOOD!!….That…..BAD!!!

  16. marinm

You whites are racists. All of you.

  17. @marinm
    Wait…wait… I have some Spanish ancestry…. I can’t be racist.

  18. @Starryflights
Starry, when are you going to say the same about the other people I listed that said the exact same thing?

  19. SlowpokeRodriguez

    marinm :
You whites are racists. All of you.

    I’ll drink to that!

  20. SlowpokeRodriguez

huckster is just a door-to-door salesman. Nothing racist. If you look at old census records, huckster was not an uncommon occupation.

  21. SlowpokeRodriguez

I should clarify….if you call Obama a huckster, then it is, of course, racist.

  22. @SlowpokeRodriguez
What if you only call the white “half” a huckster?

  23. middleman

Palin may be a fool, but she isn’t stupid- she knew exactly what she was saying. Of COURSE “shuck and jive” is racist. Has anyone ever heard it used in reference to a white person? It’s derogatory shorthand for a cheating, lazy, dishonest black person who is using diversionary techniques to cover himself.

The question is, who in their right mind would consider Sarah Palin for ANY position of responsibility? She’s an ineffective incompetent quitter who has never accomplished anything (except preventing McCain from becoming president). AND a racist to boot!

    1. I totally agree, 100%, Middleman. I wouldn’t have said it last presidential election but I sure thought it. This year, who cares what I say. I don’t have the same political manners I used to have.

I just wonder why that is.

  24. Of course, “shuck and jive” is only racist because you say it is. “Shucking and Jiving” can be applied equally to ANYONE that says one thing and does another.

    From the Urban Dictionary.
To shuck and jive” originally referred to the intentionally misleading words and actions that African-Americans would employ in order to deceive racist Euro-Americans in power, both during the period of slavery and afterwards. The expression was documented as being in wide usage in the 1920s, but may have originated much earlier.

“Shucking and jiving” was a tactic of both survival and resistance. A slave, for instance, could say eagerly, “Oh, yes, Master,” and have no real intention to obey. Or an African-American man could pretend to be working hard at a task he was ordered to do, but might put up this pretense only when under observation. Both would be instances of “doin’ the old shuck ‘n jive.”

It has been adopted into non-Afroamerican speech, with a reference to behavior adopted in order to avoid criticism.
In order to keep my job, I had to do the shuck and jive!
    _______________________________________________________

Sure sounds like the exact description of Obama so far. His fine words about cutting the deficit and creating jobs, his fine words about rebuilding American prestige, his fine words about “same pay for women” are all just jive to get him re-elected.

    1. I disagree with “urban dictionary” about meaning. Since when is yhe urban dictionary the end all be all in expressions?
That expression is one I have heard my entire life and it is extremely offensive. In Virginia it is very offensive.

Of course it can be applied to anyone. It all comes back to one meaning. Fenial of being a racist dorsn’t make it so. In fact, about all the examples we have put up about outward signs of racism someone has tried to justify.

It wont be used on this blog about the president. Period. The fact that you would even consider using an expression that most people consider racist speaks a great deal to many things.

I believe that Obama signing the Lilly Ledbetter Act validates his concern over equal pay for equal work.

  25. Then why aren’t the women in his administration paid the same?

And the Lilly Ledbetter Act does what exactly to give equal pay for equal work? Ledbetter’s suit was considered by the Supreme Court to be invalid.

But, hey…now its passed. With all the unintentional consequences…well, seeing as it was passed by Democrats and thousands of businesses will have start pre-emptive record keeping to help prove a negative….it probably was intentional. Gotta keep those trial lawyers happy.

This guy says it better than I can.

Cargo, you continue to amaze. Your definition documents that the origin of the phrase was slavery, but you dispute that the Palin comment is racist when she ties a black man to a phrase with a slave connotation? Wow!
