And yet … still I am voting Obama.

I wrote a piece the other day about the need for paying attention to the national debt, deficits, and paring expenses while balancing the budget.

Someone challenged me: how can I be concerned about these things ‘and yet’ vote Obama?

It is simple really.

I don’t see Obama as a great master of change. And no, I don’t believe that he has any grand plan for 2012-2016. He has disappointed me at times over the last four years — but I started out with lowered expectations since I’m a traditional Republican voter (70-80% of the time, maybe higher at local level).

So what do I see in Obama? Obama has lived up to his reputation of being ‘no drama Obama’ … which is good considering that the GOP has been after his ass since almost Day One with no intent of cooperating and working together for meaningful change and reform in any way on almost any issue. Obama has been a voice of stability working to bring most things to the center for resolution.

Fired up! Ready to go! Obama comes back to PWC

11/3/12

Inside Nova:

President Barack Obama will make a last-minute campaign stop in Prince William County on Saturday, along with the musician Dave Matthews and former president Bill Clinton, several news outlets reported Wednesday evening.

Fired up!  Ready to Go!  He’s coming back.  Even Hurricane Sandy couldn’t keep President Obama out of Prince William County, even though he had to cancel last Monday night.  He will bring Bill Clinton and the Dave Matthews Band with him.

The rally is in the evening and will be at Jiffy Lube Pavilion.

President Obama’s latest accomplishment has been to get FEMA right where help was needed.  He was fired up before hand, and ready to go as soon as the storm passed.  That is the secret of FEMA’s success….to be fired up and ready to go before the event, rather than trying to play catch up.  78% of those polled were very pleased with how the President handled the aftermath of the storm.  I wonder who those other trolls are?  That 22%?

Tickets are  at Obama Headquarters over in the City of Manassas.  You will have to supply information before getting the tickets.

Don’t Miss Out, Prince William Conservation Alliance Holds Annual Meeting Nov. 4th

As much as we all get wrapped up in National Politics, we can’t ignore critical land use decisions that effect our daily lives.  Prince William Conservation is the only PWC watershed non profit, citizen fueled organization, that works hard to ensure that our environmental concerns are addressed.  Land use decision are not just about building houses, its about where you build them also.

How do we see the future of PWC?  What will it look like?  Will we look like Fairfax or Loudon?   Geez, I hope not!  This county’s leadership still has the opportunity to really shape our community for generations to come.    We need to ensure that citizens have a “voice” at the table.  PWCA has proven its leadership in that arena.

The conservation of our environment isn’t just about pretty trees, its about fiscal responsibility, its about our general quality of life!

If you really want to make a difference, I invite you to attend the open annual meeting.  There will be great food and great conversation!

We hope you can join us!

Open Thread……………………………………………Friday, November 2

Its hard to imagine this much devastation from one storm.  I postulate that urban people have a harder time in the wake of disaster than more rural folks do.  Regardless, these people have lost everything.  It just brings tears to my eyes how there was no dodging this bullet and there but for the grade of God go we….A little further south….and who knows.

Not only are houses gone, it is cold out there.  Even those with generators are running out of gasoline.  Gasoline is hard to come by because there is no electricity in many places.  Those stations with gasoline have cars lined up for literally miles.

What can we do to help?
