In this bizarro world…
It is acceptable to shout out at the President of the United States, “You LIE!”
In this bizarro world….
Its ok to point your finger in the face of the President of the United States and givre him the business.
In this bizarro world…
You can address the President of the United States as if he were your underling.
In this bizarro world…
Its OK for the opposition to look down his nose at the President of the United States and accuse him of lying.
In this bizarro world…
Its OK for a Supreme Court Justice to mouth the words “not true” at the President of the United States during the State of the Union Address.
In this bizarro world…
Its OK to accuse the President of the United States of being a socialist and like Hitler.
How shameful. These are not MY values and I hope they are not yours.
How things should be:
FOR ALL THE HATEFUL AMERICANS THAT HAVE FORGOTTEN THIS MAN IS THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES…OR HAVE NEVER BEEN TAUGHT WHAT THAT MEANS….
Slow,
I think you need a nice night out with the wife, have a great dinner, a few cocktails, and watch a funny movie.
@Moon-howler
What? Are you talking to me?
What part of FEMA waited to the last minute to order water did you miss? They KNEW that this hurricane would hit somewhere on the East Coast between DC and New York. And they didn’t even order water until then?
Please….. They screwed up. Its not bashing. Its just a point that LOCAL authorities need to step up and stage basic supplies.
Where are local authorities going to get that much water in NJ?
Have you always been this negative about everything that isn’t tea party or guns?
Regarding the WWII soldier standing up for the President. Amazing. It doesn’t surprise me though. That is how people of that era were taught to behave. I was taught by people of that era.
If my brothers hadn’t stood up when an older adult came in the room, my mother would have had their heads.
Both of my parents would have died of shame to if we were disrespectful to the President of the United States. That’s just how we were raised. Showing respect for the office is just part of being an American.
@Moon-howler
What’s negative? They screwed up. And local authorities can set up contracts ahead of time in case of emergency and then arrange for FEMA to pay for it. It’s about planning.
This isn’t about bashing. Remember, I come from hurricane country: New Orleans. I think like this EVERY STORM SEASON. The state’s could have set up contracts ahead of time, using their greater knowledge of possible needs to set this up. Conditional contracts….if the storm doesn’t hit, they don’t get the stuff.
As for showing respect for the office of the President, I will stand and salute when appropriate and point out that the “emperor” has no clothes when appropriate. If a President, ANY president lies, etc, I will call him on it.
We were obviously raised very differently.
How quickly one forgets..a year agoa shut down was imminent – an issue at hand was the question of the FEMA budget “used so infrequently”…
“It’s possible that Congress will find a last-minute way to avoid a shutdown of many federal agencies when the fiscal year ends on Friday. The Senate plans to vote Monday on a Democratic bill that would not require spending offsets to release new money for FEMA. But GOP leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky is confident Republicans will block the Democrats’ move. It takes 41 votes to sustain a filibuster in the 100-member Senate, and the Republicans hold 47 seats.”
Not too many natural disasters in Kentucky. Preparedness costs money. You can’t build it up unless the support is steady and sustainable.
As to respect for the office of the President – it’s not situational.
On the original post, many of the things you reference had to do with illegal immigration. To me the most bizarre thing about American politics is the way that both parties cater to non-citizens and do not protect the jobs or wage strength of American citizens. In bizarro world, the President doesn’t have to enforce the laws he doesn’t like, and we’re all supposed to accept that as our status quo.
I have not taken anything away from the Bizarro World, only added to it.
I don’t recall commenting on immigration.
Are you talking about illegal immigrants or foreign nationals who are here legally?
How do we tell without asking to see their voter registration card?
Some of the things cited – Brewster wagging her finger, the “you lied” utterance – were driven by illegal immigfation.
Oh. Ok. Now I understand. I guess I don’t much care what it was over. It shouldn’t have happened. I never stopped to find out why she was being such a harridan. She was out of line and extremely rude.
You lied…again, totally inappropriate. I don’t really care what it was over.
I think Wilson and Brewer were both justified. This isn’t come civilized debate being conducted in public. This is about an executive Branch refusing to enforce the law that they were sworn to uphold.
