Cuccinelli blocks falsely convicted man’s release

Jonathan Montgomery

From  the Associated Press     :

Virginia’s attorney general says a Hampton judge lacked jurisdiction to order the release of an imprisoned man whose accuser recanted her sexual assault allegation.

Brian Gottstein, a spokesman for Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli, says Jonathan Montgomery’s case is a tragedy. But he says in an email today that Circuit Judge Randolph West’s order exonerating Montgomery and vacating the final two years of his sentence is void under state law. He says Montgomery probably needs to petition the Virginia Court of Appeals for a writ of actual innocence, which Cuccinelli will support.

Montgomery’s father, David Montgomery, says his son should be released immediately. He says the attorney general’s office is holding an innocent man captive.

Political assault on women–like that one better?

Most Republicans I know have defiantly told me that there is no war on women.  Literally, I agree.  Figuratively I strongly disagree.

First off, I usually give Republicans credit, with great fanfare, for having the best control of the sound-bites and the bumper sticker slogans.  They are just better at it that Democrats and like-minded people.  Not in  this case– the women snatched the sound bite and owned it.  War on Women is ours and we will use it as we please.  We own it.

There isn’t a person in the world who can realistically deny that women had a great deal to do with the outcome of the election.  I don’t just mean the presidential election–that was probably the least significant.  The war on women showed up in senatorial and congressional races all over this country and the women most definitely threw the some of the bastards out.

Jon Stewart: Interview with Paula Broadwell

Jon Stewart had some uncanny ability to predict the future.  The video is from January 2012.

Not to pile on Petraeus but he committed the first sin of fooling around. Never fool around with someone who has less to lose than you do. Secondly, he let his ego get in the way of his goals. Thirdly, there is absolutely nothing worse than a jealous women or a jealous dog. Both protect their own self-interests with equal fervour.

According to the Washington Post:

For Broadwell, who is also married, the startling turn of events has reportedly been painful as well. After writing a best-selling and highly laudatory book about Petraeus, she appears to have initiated the series of events that led to his public humiliation. Investigators say threatening e-mails from Broadwell to another woman led to the discovery of the affair between the biographer and her subject. It is an outcome made more poignant because she has been — and remains — zealous in her devotion to the general, friends and colleagues say.

“She was relentlessly pro-Petraeus,” said a longtime Afghan policy expert who met Broadwell in Kabul. “There was no room for a conversation of shortcomings of the Petraeus theology. She wasn’t a reporter. She struck me as an acolyte.”

Those who worked for Petraeus  continued to express discomfort with Broadwell’s level of access and how she flaunted it in their faces.

We are maggots?

Maggot Man??

From Salon.com

Peter Morrison, treasurer of the Hardin County Republican Party in Texas, suggests in his newsletter that the state should have an “amicable divorce” from the “maggots” who re-elected Obama.

Morrison posted on his Facebook page his post-election thoughts: “We must contest every single inch of ground and delay the baby-murdering, tax-raising socialists at every opportunity. But in due time, the maggots will have eaten every morsel of flesh off of the rotting corpse of the Republic, and therein lies our opportunity.”

“Texas was once its own country, and many Texans already think in nationalist terms about their state,” Morrison continued. “We need to do everything possible to encourage a long-term shift in thinking on this issue. Why should Vermont and Texas live under the same government? Let each go her own way in peace, sign a free trade agreement among the states and we can avoid this gut-wrenching spectacle every four years.”

The Cooch in a blue state

I am reminded of an old Bobby  Vinton record, ” Blue on Blue”  …Blue on Blue, leart ache on heart ache…so on and so forth.

What’s the Cooch to do?  He is the darling of the Religious Right and darling of the Tea Party.  Ooops, big cross over on the old Venn Diagram with that one.  Where does Tuesday’s election leave  that bad-boy attorney general?

From the Washington Post:

Firebrand conservative Kenneth Cuccinelli, now attorney general, is running, upsetting the state Republican establishment that badly wants mild-mannered and reliable Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling as its gubernatorial candidate.

Cuccinelli, who has gained national attention for his strong positions against climate change, homosexuals and abortion, had been riding the Tea Party wave of distrust and resentment of government and mainstream politicians.

The stupidity award goes to: Denise Helms, Bimbo

I am getting tired of the racist of the day.  I couldn’t resist this one however.  This stupid young woman is like a clone of someone I used to consider  a friend.  Why would a person claim to not be a racist?  What do they consider a racist?  I used to be very uncomfortable calling people racists except in the most extreme circumstances.   It seems to be getting easier with each passing day.

Huffingtonpost.com:

News keeps getting worse for Denise Helms, the 22-year-old California woman whose racist, threatening Facebook status about President Barack Obama went viral this week. Helms has since been fired from her job at a Turlock, Calif., Cold Stone Creamery, and the Secret Service is now looking into her comments.

“Another 4 years of this (N-word),” Helms wrote on her Facebook Tuesday night. “Maybe he will get assassinated this term.”

Some in the group also threatened violence against the Minority Student Union members, college officials said, but there was no physical contact. Officials said about 40 students were involved, but it was unclear how many were active and how many were bystanders.

Megyn Kelly: Is this math you do as a Republic to make yourself feel better ?

Some footage will live forever.   Faux News had a big meltdown over the Obama win.
Megyn Kelly turned to Karl Rove who denied that Ohio had been called for Obama and said those immortal words:

Is this math you do as a Republican to make yourself feel better or is this real?

Those words really do sum up what Fox News is all about.

O’Reilly’s words really will also never be forgotten.  Its really about being an old white man.
