Inouye

Sen. Daniel K. Inouye of Hawaii, a highly decorated World War II combat veteran who used his status as one of the most powerful Democrats in Washington and the second-longest-serving senator in history to send billions of dollars to his home islands, died Monday at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda. He was 88.

Since 2010, Sen. Inouye had been the Senate’s president pro tempore, which put
him third in the line of succession for the presidency.

Sen. Inouye was the first Japanese American elected to Congress.  He also gained notoriety during Watergate.  A war hero, he lost his arm during WWII.   His last words were ” Aloha.”

  1. I wish George would stop by and give the Senator a send off as only george can do.

I have always respected Sen. Inouye. He had a quiet dignity during Watergate and wasn’t one of the ones up going all drama queen on us, staging his presence.
