So, as I am making my blueberry pie, intermittently I hear this loud boom sound, like someone is blasting through rock somewhere. My husband, who is off from work says to me, “I think that sound must be the concrete truck across the street, but damn, that’s loud.”
A short time later, Alanna calls (you know, anti bvbl Alanna) and says “Holy crap, do you year that loud booming sound” and I say “yes” and we try to figure out where the hell it is coming from.
She decides to call the non emergency number and is told that it is Quantico is running drills, but because of the especially low cloud cover, the sound is traveling especially far today! Apparently they have been getting numerous calls from the Gainesville and Haymarket today.
Been here 11 years, never heard this before!
I told them they were wimps. I hear Quantico all the time. I always have.
Today is particularly annoying and the windows are rattling.
Elena, just think of it somewhere over in the eastern part of the county, the Marines are building men.
👿 😈
How could we possibly be hearing that noise in Haymarket? It just doesn’t seem possible.
Sound travels. Low clouds. How can it be possible that I hear it in Manassas?
rattlin’ the windows in my office in Manassas.
Lots of rattling going on over here. It sounds like they are tunneling through Bull Run Mountain.
I can’t remember a time when it was any louder than today. We took the dogs for a walk in Hellwig Park which is on the opposite end of Joplin Road from Quantico. They were unfazed by the noise but we kept a tight hand on their leashes in case they decided to bolt.
