Ice is a rather miraculous form of water. It can create great beauty, entice us with its mystery, or cause us great danger.
Traffic accidents, falls, icicles falling off of buildings and roofs not only can injure, they can kill you. Frozen pipes can cost a fortune. Snow and ice removal costs industry and municipalities millions each winter.
Driving in snow is one thing. Driving on ice is quite another. Ice alters one’s ability to stop or go. It doesn’t matter what you drive if you are driving on ice. The moral of the story is, don’t drive on ice.
SPOILER Alert
OMG, Lady Sybil! I bawled like a baby. That was the most personal, intimate death I have ever watched on film. I unfortunately came upon the British version, was reading something and slammed into last Sunday’s show. I knew there would be a bad ending. It didn’t stop the tears.
Is this the last season or are there more?
Want to see politics at its sleaziest?
House of Cards on Netflix. It is a made for netflix streamer. It came out Feb 1. its in a neat format. You can watch it in pieces but they are all out there. No waiting for thenext one to come out.
kevin Spacey is the star. He is a JR Ewing type congressman.
The problems surrounding PTSD and other anxiety disorders show how hard it will be to even discuss mental health issues and whether ownership of guns should be limited when a person has one of these disorders. Is the disorder temporary, recurring, permanent? Has it been diagnosed? Is it related in any way to firearms? I predict that there will be as much resistance to mental health diagnoses as there is to firearms registration or background checks.
I bet the fight will be just as strong also. The right to privacy is going to be the real hurdle.
The 2A people think they trump because of explicitness. Well, if things were that explicit we wouldnt be arguing today over it. There is a certain ‘prenumbra’ of understanding in the 2nd also. The Amendments are ordered, not ranked.
@Morris Davis Chris Wallace sort of ate LaPierre’s lunch.
You are right Moe. Wallace didn’t let him get away with the NRA spin.
I find it phenominal that the right has moved so far right on the issue of 2A that everyone who isn’t an absolutist, is now a left wing gun taker.
You NRA folks might want to consider how extremist you are when simply no one other than the people who agree with you 100% are right wing and you think everyone else is far left.
That really is extremist.
Chris Wallace did surprised me today. In a good way.
LeP didn’t have a neat answer when asked whether HE has armed guards
guarding HIM /this was with regards to the sleazy ad about the Obama girls/
Haha! Wallaces kids went to the same school the Obama girls are going to. He basically said LaP was not being truthful.
@Cargosquid I think I know enough about PTSD not to give a guy suffering from such a gun and take him to a shooting range.
This is a very good example of why the NRA’s claim about a good guy with a gun being the only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is just a bunch of BS. The plethora of guns in our society does not make us more secure; indeed, it does just the opposite. Just ask Chris Kyle.
@Starryflights
Then I guess you won’t bother calling the cops if a bad guy shows up, right? And, you CLAIM to know enough about PTSD to say that. Even though there has been no details released as to the cause of the shooting. PTSD takes many forms. So, again, do you have some special knowledge about this case or PTSD in general to make a blanket claim like that?
Cargo, he didn’t claim to be an expert of PTSD. You are badgering. Geez.
@Censored bybvbl
Well said.
@Moon-howler
Actually, there are efforts towards that…
@Moon-howler
Slack jaw? I haven’t seen that term before.
I answered him too. He wasn’t left out.
@Moon-howler
I don’t have Netflix, so I haven’t seen the Kevin Spacey version of “House of Cards.” I’ve heard about it and would like to see it.
However, I gather it’s based on the old British trilogy, “House of Cards.” I bought the old DVD set years ago but it doesn’t play well on a flat screen TV. I’m probably going to break down and buy the new Blu-Ray version:
http://www.amazon.com/House-Cards-Trilogy-Original-Remastered/dp/B00ANDPGJE/ref=sr_1_3?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1359997392&sr=1-3&keywords=house+of+cards
This is without doubt one of the best things I’ve ever seen on television. People who enjoy political drama, whom I assume is everyone who posts on this blog, will likely find themselves sitting through all three films at once.
I have one question about the Netflix series. Does it include the line, “You might think that, but I couldn’t possibly comment?” Doesn’t sound like much here, but coming from Ian Richardson’s Francis Urquhart is one of the best TV lines ever, and used often in the series.
Another old BBC series now being remade in the UK is “Yes, Minister.” It was followed by the even more popular, “Yes, Prime Minister.” Both were outstanding and shouldn’t be missed by political junkies. I bought the DVD sets of those also.
Need to know, I believe you can access it for free during the month of February.
If you can’t, then just sign up for a month to the streaming content and then drop it. You don’t have a contract with netflix.
The unlimited streaming is 7.99 a month.
This is an excellent program. 13 episodes. You can watch all. I finished. Of course I watched way into the night because I was hooked.
It is an Amerian version of the Brit version.
I just got a notice from Del. Jackson Miller regarding a new bill:
This is an excellent bill and I am glad to see Jackson Miller is co-sponsoring it.
This bill deals with police officers who retire and take jobs in schools. The security officers AT THIS TIME are not armed. Retired cops make excellent security personnel in schools. They possess a level of knowledge others don’t.
Currently they can’t be hired full time. I know several in PWC work a 99% contract to meet VRS rules.
@Moon-howler
Thanks Moon, I’ll check into that with Netflix. Have you ever seen the British version? Kevin Spacey is a good actor, but he’s going to have a hard time coming even close to Ian Richardson’s performance of F.U. (Initials referred to on occasion in the UK version).
Except Kevin Spacey plays an American congressman and not an Mof P.

Tea party favorite Rep. Michele Bachmann, R-Minn., has unveiled a plan for cutting $400 billion in federal spending that includes freezing Veterans Affairs Department health care spending and cutting veterans’ disability benefits.

Teahadis consider veterans to be part of the 47 percent of “takers”. Remember that next time you read about a vet suffering from PTSD
