Alex Jones rants on like a crazy man. Rarely have I seen a person make such an ass of himself.

Alex Jones argues using the same old tired rhetoric. His hysteria makes me wonder if he shouldn’t be the poster child for someone who shouldn’t be allowed to have a gun.

Alex Jones must believe in the shot gun method of debate. Fire in all directions and see what you hit.

Gun enthusiasts and hobbyists, is this man who you want representing your cause? He is frightening.

Northern Virginians are often seen as not being “real Virginians.”  Stop laughing. This is how normal should look: Prospects for 2013 General Assembly

I am such a home-girl. The following email came from Delegate David Toscano as an update before the General Assembly convened. it was informative. It told Virginians what was on board for the upcoming session and had no guns and personhood bills on it. I hope the prospects for this year will include things that make us healthier, wealither and wise. Please spare us from any more political agendas.

More than anything, I wish *I* had gotten a letter like this from MY delegate. Neither Mr. Marshall or Mr. Jackson seem willing to just be normal Virginians.

On Monday, January 7, 2013, I arrive in Richmond for my eighth General Assembly Session, my second as Democratic Leader in the House.

Each General Assembly session takes on a special character and tone and this one will be no different. Last year’s session garnered national headlines as Republicans pushed socially divisive legislation, including a bill to force women to have an invasive ultrasound procedure before terminating a pregnancy, and numerous bills that made it more difficult for Virginia citizens to exercise their right to vote. We are less likely to see similar legislation this session, but until the bills are introduced, it’s an unknown. Below is a list of issues that you are likely to read about in the coming months:

Officer Yung– End of Watch

Officer Chris Yung, Rest in Peace.

End of watch means the officer died while on duty.  It’s referred to as a Line of Duty Death.

Police Week is held annually in May to honor those killed in the line of
duty during the past year.  Officer Yung will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial this May.

Officer Chris Yung  is the third PWCPD officer to be killed in the line of duty.  Officer Paul White was killed in an automobile accident in 1973,  Officer Mike Pennington was killed by gunfire in 1990.

It appears that a correlation has been made where none exists.

For example, plenty of West Virginians have a college education. The problem is, they leave. Why? Depressed economy. The jobs are limited. However, all West Virginians seem to head back there to retire or spend their final years. I expect the same situation exists in many of these other states.

Now…Indiana? all bets are off. Not a big fan of the Hoosier State.

I am leery of any study that tries to correlate intelligence ass a demographic. Most of my Republican friends appear highly intelligent. But…and here’s the caveat….I believe very much in multiple intelligence theory.

Gov. Christie gets a little relief–darn little!

Congress has approved $9.7 billion in new aid for victims of Hurricane Sandy, with a face-
saving quick move by the House taken three days after Speaker John A. Boehner earned scathing criticism from New York and New Jersey Republicans for canceling a late-night vote on the funds.

The bill, which will allow the Federal Emergency Management Agency to pay out claims to those who held federal flood insurance, was approved in the House on a 354 to 67 vote. After the House action, the Senate also adopted the bill in a quick unanimous voice vote, sending it to President Obama.

McDonnell proposes letter grades for schools

Students receive a letter grade on their report cards and so, too, would their public school under a proposal Gov. Bob McDonnell unveiled Thursday as part of the next phase of his K-12 education legislative agenda.

Each school would be assigned a grade, A-F, which McDonnell’s office contends would help parents and others to fully understand how their child’s school is performing.

Oh dear God, when will the politicians stay out of education!  Surely Gov. Ultra-sound didn’t think this one up all by himself.  Let’s take a careful look at what would happen if the good governor gets his way.

First off, who decides the grade?  Will there be a list of objects the school is to master?  Will it be based on SOL scores?  Hasn’t there been enough stress on SOL scores already?  What will be done to ensure that schools with high populations of minority students, ESL students, economically disadvantaged students, and special ed students aren’t the schools making the D’s and F’s?

Peter King from GOP declares House Republicans immoral

Rep. Peter King has said from here on out, he is on his own.  He also tells all New Yorkers and New Jerseyans if they give to any of those candidates they are simply crazy.  He feels that what happened to the Sandy Relief is immoral.  He also says there are people who are starving to death.

President Obama is calling, Peter King is calling.  Mayor Bloomberg is calling.   Governor Christie is calling.  House Republicans-get back to family values you whip out at your convenience and take care of these families who have lost EVERYTHING. There are people out there freezing and starving.

It seems that there is the GOP and then there are the House Republicans.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) condemned House Republicans Wednesday afternoon for failing to pass a $60 billion package of funding for Hurricane Sandy relief. In the strongest terms, he accused House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) of letting “toxic internal politics” impede necessary storm relief.

“There’s only one group to blame for the continued suffering of these victims: the House majority and their speaker,” Christie said. “It was disappointing and disgusting to watch.”

This mistletoe is the most I have ever seen and sits in a gem of a place.  Any ideas where you can see this much mistletoe in one place?

All mistletoe  are hemi-parasite plants, bearing evergreen leaves that do some photosynthesis, and using the host mainly for water and mineral nutrients.  Once the mistletoe establishes a permanent connect to the host, it pretty much stops any photosynthesis and just leeches off the host plant.

Too much mistletoe can kill a tree.  Are these in danger? On another topic, any snow planned for  this week?

Oh dear God!  After all this.  Give me a break.  This guy can turn anything into a win.

Is this not the zenith of hypocrisy?  Where are the ATTA BOYS?  What are the details of the new deal that has been passed?

Where are capital gains and dividends?  Any details, folks?

The measure, brought to the House floor less than 24 hours after its passage in the Senate, was approved 257 to 167, with 85 Republicans joining 172 Democrats in voting to allow income taxes to rise for the first time in two decades, in this case for the highest-earning Americans. Voting no were 151 Republicans and 16 Democrats.

The middle class fights back…and wins Happy 2013

Biden and McConnell worked it out.  They are both colleagues from the Senate with a long history between them.  Whatever they wrangled out, passed the Senate in the wee hours of the morning, with only 8 nay notes.  Presumably, the middle class won, since taxes won’t be raised on those making less than $450,000 per year.

So what does the middle class mean?  Who are they?  It seems like EVERYone who makes less than $450K  is middle class.  What do those making $40k a year have in common with someone make $200k a year?  Not much at all.  I am not even sure they speak the same language.  How about the poor?  Where do they fit in to the mix?  Have we gotten too delicate to even mention the poor?

Would we be better off if we drew some distinctions about who we are really talking about?   What ever happened to the term lower middle class?  How about upper middle class?  Are these terms simply economic terms or do they imply more?   Maybe we should just get rid of the word “class” since it takes on a distinction sort of like crossing the Atlantic in “steerage” and choose some other noun?

Until we as Americans can agree on how we fit into economic niches, it is going to be difficult to clearly represent ourselves.    It’s pretty difficult to howl about the middle class when one day it goes from being $0.00 to $250k and the next day it goes from being $0.00 to %450K.

Let’s start working with some real finite figures as we define ourselves and others economically.
