Lawrence O’Donnell recounts Dick Morris’s finest moments as he swears that Dick Morris was fired by Fox News for never being right.

Dick Morris will appear on the Piers Morgan hour to explain why his contract with by Fox News was not renewed.

“His contract is up and we will not be renewing it, ” a Fox spokesperson
said.

According to newsmax.com:

The network did announce that former Bush White House adviser Karl Rove had been
renewed as a contributor. The network also signed on former Democratic
Congressman Dennis Kucinich as a contributor.

Morris, reached via email,
told Newsmax he is looking forward to
his appearance on CNN Wednesday
night.

“Piers and I have a lot to talk about, and I am excited that Piers
is giving me this opportunity,” Morris wrote cryptically. “You won’t be
disappointed, so tune in.”

Fox’s  rating have fallen dramatically in the
wake of last year’s election. Press reports indicate the cable channel is
re-evaluating its approach after President Obama’s strong re-election victory,
despite the fact a number of Fox hosts and analysts predicted
otherwise.

I suppose that remains to be seen.  I am surprised they kept Rove after his performance on election night.  Perhaps it was staged.

UPDATE:  Scout has just shown me the error of my ways.  Rove is larger than life.

21 Thoughts to “Dick Morris: Fired for always being wrong?”

  1. Scout

Fox appears to be doing some house-cleaning. Hannity would be a good one to jettison, but I suspect his ratings are too high. The boy seems earnest, but completely clueless. It’s embarrassing to watch him. I think he must get a lot of viewers from the under-12 demographic.

Rove was huge on Election Night. You can’t get that kind of entertainment anywhere else. They bloody well should keep him on.

    1. yea, he really does have star power…not for positive reasons but he is bigger than life.

I want to see what Dick Morris says to piers but it means I would have to look at him. Gag.

Scout convinced me to change my mind on Rover.

Aw, too bad, “Dick” Morris, was, well, such a classic case of passive aggressive anger, from a pyschological standpoint he was fascinating to watch him stab the back of his old alma mater, the democratic party.

  3. Rick Bentley

I agree that Morris was kind of fascinating to watch. He couldn’t get over his anger that Clinton let him go for moral reasons WHILE engaged in a sexual relationship with Lewinsky. On the flip side, Clinton was apparently quite angry that Morris let his hooker listen in on private conversations, to impress her.

And it was fascinating to watch how often Morris was absolutely wrong about something, and boldly trumpeting some odd angle on things. Complete bs hype merchant, pretending to have deep insights and really off the wall.

As comical as he became, Morris actually was Clinton’s primary advisor going into 1996, and Morris’ first book is an interesting account of mid-90’s politics. The most interesting thing in that book, to me, is his flat assertion that they always knew they could beat Dole if they ran against him, so they worked for the year or two beforehand to try to make Dole look good. Because they understood that if the GOP nominated Dole, it was in the bag.

  4. I liked his statement about Sarah Palin as the next Ronald Reagan. Give me a break.

  5. Who is Morris again? And why were people listening to him?

I don’t watch Fox. Or CNN. Or MSNBC. Or……

I get my news from the internet. And watch ENTERTAINMENT on TV.

    1. I am not sure interenet news is any more reliable than TV news. In fact, I think it is less reliable. People tend to go to their own niches, hear what they want and no one questions.

Dick Morris is entertainment. Don’t be such a stick in the mud. Everyone else thoroughly enjoyed lauging at him.

  6. @Moon-howler
That was me laughing at him. The “who is….” is a standard joke about his irrelevancy. If he was relevant, then he’d also be on the internet.

    1. So are you going to watch old Piers Morgan tonight? I have to delay the watch because 9 oclock is prime time on Wednesday nights for me. Criminal Minds, Law and Order, American Idol and something on the premiums. Hard for a girl to keep track of it all.

  7. Why would I watch Piers Morgan? I don’t like him and he’s a horrible interviewer.

    1. Cargp, what were we just talking about? Dick Morris. fine to not like him but I see nothing wrong with his interview skills. Is that an attempt to dimminish him because of his gun stance?

I plan on watching him later today because I want to see Dick Morris make an ass of himself one more time.

  8. Need to Know

How I miss the days of William F. Buckley and John Kenneth Galbraith. It seems that these days we get talking heads spouting talking points, and morons screaming at each other from both sides. I’m old enough to remember well-considered, intelligent debate of the issues from people who didn’t expect to get rich or become celebraties from engaging in it.

    1. Buckley could be very persuasive. He also introduced new ideas into the conversation instead of the same old talking points.

I do want to see Dick Morris once again make an ass of himself. He really makes me sick. I think I am a masochist for wanting to do this.

  9. @Moon-howler
No. I’ve seen him and that is my opinion of him. I didn’t like him before the gun interviews. Just my opinion.

I think Sean Hannity is also a horrible interviewer.

So, I don’t watch either one.

    1. Dick Morris was just stupid acting and repulsive, as usual.

  10. Rick Bentley

Here’s William F. Buckley threatening to sock Gore Vidal in his g**damn jaw … and he’ll stay plastered. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYymnxoQnf8

    1. Well, that was rude!!

NTK, That didn’t look like anyone’s finest hour.

Rick, who were they talking about? Viet Cong?

  11. Rick Bentley

“Now listen you queer …” (Buckley to Vidal).

  12. Need to Know

    @Rick Bentley

I’ve never seen that one before, but I never said Buckley was perfect. He’s my example of a commentator/pundit who was always well-informed, intelligent, and MOSTLY civil.

  13. Need to Know

The ideal of debate was Buckley and Galbraith. They were on opposite sides of the political spectrum, but held each other in high regard. Those debates were civil and very informative.

Buckley did have an alcohol problem. We hosted a visit by him once at my university when I was an undergrad. I won’t provide the exact date. He was entertaining and fun to have around for a visit, but everyone was glad he wasn’t driving.

  14. Rick Bentley

Interesting. Just by his speech and mannerisms that’s easy to believe.
