wolvesThe wolf is not too far off from being man’s best friend.  Wolves  were listed as endangered species in 1973 and were reintroduced into Yellowstone National Park and Idaho.

Beginning in 2011, the federal government turned wolf management back over to individual states.   Now the wolves are being hunted.  It remains to be seen what their fate will be.

  1. I didn’t realize how horrible I looked. My wife is an angel for putting up with that and NO comments. I’m all pretty now.

    1. I was just going to ask you when you went wild and woolly. How long is your hair? Do you have a braid?

  2. Mom

With all due respect, there is no amount of coiffing and plying of the tonsorial arts cable of transitioning you to “all pretty now”. “Better than your average homeless person” perhaps, “all pretty now”, never.

  3. Mom

cable equals capable, damn sausage fingers.

  4. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Cargo: When I met you at a Moonhowlers’ luncheon, I didn’t think you were all that HOT. Now that I’ve seen you on TV, I’ve changed my mind. You are SMOKIN Bro (my wife thinks so too).

    1. Cargo, you seem to be acquiring quite the fan club.

  6. See what TV does for you! Contrary to public opinion, it actually adds about 50 lbs….

  7. Is it just me or does Beasts of the Southern Wild sound like the dumbest movie ever made?

When does Lincoln come out on DVD? Les Miserables is out on March 22.

    Reuters – 1 hr ago

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. air travel system faces widespread disruptions if automatic government spending cuts go into effect next week, Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood said on Friday in an effort to pressure congressional lawmakers to delay the cuts.

LaHood painted a dismal picture of delayed and canceled flights, shuttered control towers and airports, and irate air travelers from coast to coast if across-the-board spending cuts are allowed to take place under the process known as sequestration.

“Flights to major cities like New York, Chicago and San Francisco and others could experience delays of up to 90 minutes during peak hours,” he told reporters at the White House. “Delays in these major airports will ripple across the country.”

Oh boy, the repugs are going to get hammered if flight delays come to pass due to the sequester

  9. Emma

It’s a bunch of fake drama. All they’re doing is bringing spending down to 2011 levels, if it even happens. There will be some heroic, eleventh-hour save staged, for sure.

    1. fake drama? I really hope you are kidding. @Emma

  10. Pat.Herve

The issue with the spending cuts – is where they are cutting. They are not going to cut an unwanted weapons program or some other program – they are going to cut DoD discretionary spending. So, saying that it is a small reduction does not address where the cuts are being made.

  11. @Starry flights
La Hood is incompetent if they have ANY disruptions. Their budget increases next year.

  12. Starryflights

That’s not true. There is no budget for anything beyond March 30, 2013.

But you know what? I say go ahead and let sequester come. This may be the only way the American people will come to appreciate just how much we all depend on the federal government in various ways, shapes and forms.

  13. Va. lawmakers approve landmark transportation plan.

  14. @Starryflights
    Heh.

You’ve just stated the Tea Party justification. We shouldn’t be THIS dependent upon the government.

And why ISN’T THERE a budget beyond March 30, 2013? Oh..that’s right. The Senate still refuses to write one.

    1. But where do all the budgets start, Cargo? Not the Senate.

  15. And the HOUSE has submitted a budget every year. The Senate tables them. They must write their own, and then hash it out with the House. Reid does not want to put his people on record. So they are breaking federal law by not writing a budget.

    1. I should have written realistic budget, not a tea party special which will never pass the senate.

  16. Fine…it doesn’t pass the Senate. That’s part of the way things work. That means that the Senate must write one. Both Houses consider each other’s works.

But the Senate tabled them…and didn’t vote. They refuse to do THEIR job.

    1. And the HOuse doesn’t do its job. Nothing unique here. So vote them out of office.

  17. I would be happy to vote the Republicans that aren’t doing their job out of office. But if the House IS sending their budget to the Senate, then they ARE doing their job.

  18. Million hoodie march tonight in New York City.

Today is the 1 year anniversary of the death of Trevon Martin. The George Zimmerman’s trial is in June.

I will withold judgement until the facts are in. Zimmerman needs a fair trial.

  19. @Cargosquid

This congress has not submitted a budget have they? What happened last year doesn’t count.

  20. Clinton S. Long

First off, about the budget. Each part of Congress has its own budget resolution. There is no consolidated budget between the two and the President does not sign it. The President submits the executive branch budget. In each case it is a blueprint for the respective part (House or Senate) to do appropriations bills. It is during the appropriations process that spending is reconciled and compared to the President’s request. Normally, what is passed is not in accordance with either the House or Senate budget. The problem in the Senate failure is that there is no direction given to the appropriating committees so they can do what they want. So you are talking past each other because you are talking about two different things.

The funding that is expiring is not the “budget”, it is a continuing resolution that extends last year’s continuing resolution. There is no need for a continuing resolution if Congress passes the 12 separate appropriations bills and the President signs them. Continuing resolutions cover whatever agencies that do not have their appropriations approved for the fiscal year. In this case, each house of congress has passed 11 appropriations bills- the Senate has not passed an Interior bill and the House has not passed the HHS bill. Of the 9 bills that have been passed jointly, they have never met to reconcile the differences among them. So the continuing resolution covers all agencies.

More importantly, I just finished watching my second episode of Inside Combat Rescue, which takes place in Kandahar. It follows the PJs, the special forces of the Air Force. These guys are both helicopter warriors as well as medics. I would recommend people who can take the blood watch this documentary show. It is not faked and the first time the PJs have been filmed in action. The action takes place in November 2012. The episodes are shown on Mondays at 10 pm on the National Geographic Channel.

Senator who tried to impeach Clinton admits lovechild – Pete Domenici. I don’t think Republicans are any more or less “moral” than Democrats. But I sure wish they’d stop acting and talking like they’ve cornered the family values market.

NC Congressman Walter Jones says Dick Cheney is likely to go to hell because of the Iraq War and he gives a shout-out to MSNBC … not sure which is more shocking to hear from a Republican. I don’t know what’s in the water in that part of NC but I wished DC could get some.

Are we Americans so foolish to have elected sooooo many wing nuts? Or are we incapable of listening beyond a sound bite?

  25. @Lyssa
” Or are we incapable of listening beyond a sound bite?”

Apparently not. Look who was re-elected as President.

    1. @Cargo, Look who did what the majority of the people wanted during his first term, despite an all out effort to make him look like a fool by his political opposition. The fact that you made that comment proves my point.

Kelly Wins Dem. Nod for Ex-Rep. Jackson Jr.’s Seat
ABC OTUS News – 4 mins 16 secs ago

Former Illinois legislator Robin Kelly captured the Democratic nomination Tuesday in the race to replace disgraced ex-U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., after a truncated campaign season where she got a boost from New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s super PAC.

The nomination all but assures that Kelly will sail through the April 9 general election and head to Washington, because the Chicago-area district is overwhelmingly Democratic.

From a crowded field, Kelly emerged early as a leader on gun control — a central issue during the race. Bloomberg’s super PAC, Independence USA, poured more than $2 million into the race by airing anti-gun ads in her favor and against another Democratic front runner, former U.S. Rep. Debbie Halvorson.

Kelly, a former state representative from Matteson, a south Chicago suburb, favors an assault weapons ban. Halvorson, who unsuccessfully challenged Jackson in a primary last year, is against such a ban.

Yeah! Alright! The NRA is not unbeatable. Gun control is good politics!

  27. Lyssa

Bloomberg is taking on the NRA.

  28. @Moon-howler
Look who did what the majority of the people wanted? Oh. Ok. I guess the polls showing ACR in negative numbers were all bogus. I guess the majority wanted record unemployment and lies.

  29. @Lyssa
Old News. Bloomberg has been running Mayors Against Illegal Guns for years. He was even involved in illegal straw purchases in Virginia to make us look bad.

  30. Here’s a question for everyone, since there are some informed, passionate people on here that are concerned with illegal immigration.

Where should the border patrol STOP patrolling and do they have the right to detain Americans or stop anyone to ask for ID? This isn’t state police. State police can only ask these questions if a person is stopped for a crime.

    Here’s what’s happening: http://youtu.be/u4Ku17CqdZg

  31. WaPo:

The new Pew poll today finds that an astonishing 62 percent of Americans think the GOP is out of touch with the American people, versus only 46 percent who think that about Dems — a 16 point gap.

  32. @Cargosquid

I am no longer going to try to decode acronyms nor am I going to respond to sarcasm.

  33. @Cargosquid

No one needs to MAKE Virginia look bad for illegal gun resales. It has been documented for years.

  34. Pat.Herve

    @Cargosquid

yeah, that is great cargo – the same people right here in Manassas that wanted the PWCPD to have the authority to stop and ask immigration status would be the same folks that would harass the officers when asked immigration status. If anyone was really interested in stopping the flow of undocumented workers, they would welcome random immigration check points.

  35. Lyssa

    @Cargosquid

    It’s working…… 🙂

  36. Lyssa

Sheriff has another pole out that will once again provide startling insight into PWC politics.

  37. @Lyssa
So 20 people will all vote for Pete Candland and all Republicans not in office if they election were held tomorrow.

Those 20 people will vote 15 times.

    Got it. Thanks Lyssa.

The mistake is assuming that “people are paying attention now.” A small core of bocs watchers are always around, rattling sabers and making some noise. At the polls, the same old thing happens.

20 or so people consider themselves a mandate. Bird puffery.

If they and the Sheriff puff up their feathers enough to look large and in charge, here at budget time, someone hopes to scare the sitting supervisors into accepting Pete’s budget proposal.

Anonymous blogs still seem to follow Pete, don’t they. How random. First there was truth squad, now the sheriff.

  38. @Moon-howler
Its been exaggerated for years. Time to crime is about 3 years. There is no “iron pipeline.”

    @Moon-howler
ACR is ObamaCare. Or did I use the wrong letters?

  39. Lyssa

To be an acronym it must be pronounceable. RADAR vs USA. USA is called initialism.

ACA for American Care Act would be initialism unless we want to call it “ahh-ca”.

    1. You learn something new every day. I did not know that. Thank you.

  40. Lyssa

I looked it up just to impress you.

  41. The Transportation Bill that is sitting on the Governor’s desk waiting signature has a $100 tax on hybrid cars attached.

Citizens need to contact Gov. McDonnell and demand that he remove that hybrid tax.

  42. Ray Beverage

    @Lyssa

LOL! Good one, Lyssa! The full acronymn for the act is “PPACA” for the “Personal Protection and Affordable Care Act”….there was other legislation, most notable being the Elder Justice Act, that was all passed that March. So if you want to speak “PPACA”, one would say “Paaa-pack-A” 🙂

  43. The Pope just left the Vatican. It is sort of sad, and yet invigorating in a way, that he had the courage to retire alive. Good for him and I hope that he lives a long, enjoyable life.

for anyone with Comcast – your rates are about to go up. They are even charging for the standard channel boxes, you know the one where they said the rates would not go up when they went all digital, well, now they are.
