HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Nothing to laugh at, Cargo, no laughter from here. White cover highly
undesirable on March 25!
Agree, though, that the headline is a very funny !!! Joining your HAHAHAHAHAHA…
Having just made the rounds from reading all the pool haters, it is easy to see why PWC is considered provincial by the rest of NOVA.
Once again the county loudmouth ed-“reformers” will try to frame the question. A school with a pool is progress, especially with lack of exercise being a key contributor to obesity in kids. It will also pull student athletes off the community recreational pools, freeing them up for adult time–you know, those who pay the taxes.
I have heard enough idiot tea party mentality on this subject. Many schools in progressive areas have had school pools for years. Time for the “reformers” to STFU and stop the giant steps backwards.
You all are just jealous that your kids won’t be going to the new school with the pool.
Sour grapes….tsk tsk.
I would NOT want my kid going to a school with a pool. Especially knowing full well there were quite of few kiddos having to be educated in trailers. So, glad our kids are outta there.
Why not? Your kid worked at a pool for years? I would really like it if my kid was a swimming athlete. I expect it could become a magnet school.
Pay attention to this – it’s how real wars begin: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/debt-crisis-live/9951727/Cyprus-bailout-live.html
Pay particular attention to the Russian response.
@Cato the Elder
So…when do you expect such to happen here?
@Cargosquid
Never, because we can print money.

She STILL works there. Key word “works”. She was not an athlete swimmer. I know plenty of her friends that were and I didn’t hear them whining about needing a pool. Other key phrase “magnet school”. I do NOT like the concept of speciality/magnet schools. It’s public education and should be very similiar countywide. imo. I do care about my tax dollars and this pool is not my idea of responsible spending. Again, just MY opinion. For what little it is worth.
The problem continues to be that the athletic teams often use the swim time at the rec centers with pools, crowding out other residents who want to swim, from what I have been told. This is an on-going problem.
The magnet schools are what keep PWC from having ghetto schools, just to tell it like it is. Even the magnet concept hasn’t helped all that much, just looking at some of the schools near and dear to our hearts. Whether it’s IB, performing arts, Bio-tech, Astronomy, Cambridge, STEM, Foreign language, or what, it gives kids an opportunity to persue interests that are simply too expensive to be at each individula school.
What if she were an athletic swimmer? Perhaps a pool school would save you hours of travel. Some of these families spend their life on the road, starting at 4 and 5 am. I see a real need for a school pool if PWC is going to be competitive with the rest of Northern Virginia. We plan for the future, not yesterday. I am pleased with Mr. Johns for supporting this concept rather than going along with the tea party mentality so many have in this county.
Again, its just my personal opinon and I haven’t blogged about it. Its an opinion, not a passion like it would be if I had a kid or g-kid involved in the swimming program.
We don’t want to be the red-headed step child of Fairfax County forever. There are people howling over the exercise bikes at Patriot HS in the library and reading lounge areas. They cost money. shudder shudder.

Every high school should have a pool. Every kid graduating should know how to swim.
A lot of kids don’t have the opportunity to use a pool due to the expense of belonging to a swim club or pay for each visit to public pools.
Sen. Mark Warner announces support for gay marriage
Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia on Monday announced his support for gay marriage, making him the latest high-profile politician to state publicly that his opinion on the issue had changed.
“I support marriage equality because it is the fair and right thing to do. Like many Virginians and Americans, my views on gay marriage have evolved, and this is the inevitable extension of my efforts to promote equality and opportunity for everyone,” he said in a statement posted on his Facebook page, noting that he signed an amicus brief urging the repeal of the Defense of Marriage Act, which bars federal recognition of same-sex marriages.
Warner’s announcement comes on the eve of Supreme Court oral arguments this week on gay marriage cases, including consideration on Wednesday regarding whether DOMA constitutes federal overreach.

Way to go Warner! Let us hope the Suoremes strike down the California ban and allow same sex marriage everywhere.
The Dark Master blasted Buffalo Wings for refusing to serve cops with guns. What he didn’t tell his readers is that the cops were in plain clothes and that the general manager has issued a clarification and an apology to all concerned. He was not at work that day.
There is nothing else he can do other than apologize. Once an apology was issued, the matter should have died.
Too bad Black Velvet didn’t report the FULL story.
So should the Supremes have even heard the Prop 8 case?
Some are saying it was a state matter. Was Segregation just a state matter?
Suggest reading “Juan Williams: Race and the Gun Debate” in
today’s Wall Steet Journal.
The votes are in people! The Peter Candland Blog, aka The Sheriff of Nottingham whatever, has voted him the only effective supervisor. That makes it official.
One only has to guess why anonymous bloggers keep following Pete around singing his praises on high.
How effen obvious can you get.
New York Democratic Rep. Jose Serrano reintroduced a bill in Congress on Friday to repeal the 22nd Amendment, which places term limits on the U.S. presidency.

I think it is a bad idea. Why would we want the same person for more than 8 years?
We ate at Malones in Old Town for the first time this evening. I was very pleasantly surpised and pleased. The setting (including the folks present) were more sophisticated than I had anticipated. The service was humming. Just had apps and salads: I had fried oysters (very fresh, fried crisp on the outside, moist on the inside) and spinach salad; Wife had french onion soup and and a caesar salad. Oh, and I also had a beer (amber and hoppy). We will definitely return. Further understand that upstairs will be open soon with larger bar and TVs.
HI Rich. Where is Malones located in Old Town. Sounds great.

Is the upstairs or the downstairs open?
This article explains the status of the restaurant.
