This thread is dedicated for the on-going crisis and man-hunt going on in Watertown, Massachusetts that errupted in the wee hours of the morning today.  There was a massive shoot out.  Explosives were thrown at police.

Our Moonhowlings family has relatives in the immediate vicinity.  An MIT police officer has been killed.  One of the terrorists has been run over and killed.  He was run over by his own brother.  He had an IED strapped to his body.

There is an extensive  man-hunt going on.  People in the burbs of Boston in several communities are under lockdown.

The information is fresh and ongoing as we stay glued to our TVs.

23 Thoughts to “Terrorists found in Boston burbs, 1 dead”

  1. Starry flights

Wow! The video of the shoot out sounds like something from Kabul.

  2. Thank goodness! The killer has been apprehended.

BTW, I am tired of hearing him being called a gentleman by the media. No he isn’t.

  3. The people of Boston are remarkable.

    Great job, all LEOs involved.

  4. Starryflights

They got him. Whew! What a week?

  5. I heard that they “suspended his Miranda rights” under a “public safety” law.

I didn’t know that there was such a law. I’d like to learn more about this. Because if they use it once without scrutiny, it WILL come back when its convenient for those in power. So what was suspended, I wonder…….

I can understand demanding any knowledge about immediate dangers like more bombs…..but how far did this go?

    1. Oh dear God, now these effen POS’s have rights? They are being charged with terrorism….rather HE is being charged with terrorism. There would be other explosives out there as well as other terrorists working with him. They don’t want him to lawyer up.

Excellent Law Enforcement work at federal, state and local level. Extremely well done, apparently well-coordinated. It will be most valuable to have this kid’s testimony about what motivated this, who (if anyone besides his brother) supported it, and about future plans they may have had.

All American citizens have rights. Bill Ayers was read his rights. Holmes was read his rights. Etc..etc….

So..I’m curious as to how this law works. If its used to make sure the general public is safe…that there are no more bombs, for example… I’m good with that. But, then, if he does not have a right to remain silent….how do the police plan to MAKE him talk? Is this only to keep him from getting a lawyer before being asked about possible threats?

Other than that, I think that they all did OUTSTANDING!!!!

    1. Actually he would have the same rights if he wasn’t an American citizen. I heard a little more about this non-mirandizing on TV. He will be mirandized but not for a while. I wasn’t sure how long it would be.

I was going through major anger about him not having any rights. I didn’t want him to have any…because of what he did to others. I know that isn’t reality. I am still furious over 9-11. Every 9-11 I allow my anger to refuel.

Another part of me is angry over this kid who everyone liked and had his whole life ahead of him…would allow himself to be ‘turned’ or radicalized. How freaking stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    2. Get over Bill Ayers. If he is the worst you have to worry about, you would be lucky. I know why you throw that name out. Too bad. Obama is president for the next 3.5 years whether he hob nobbed with Bill Ayers or not. Furthermore, who knew who Bill Ayers even was until the oppositional researchers dug him up. He wasn’t a household name.

I wonder if this kid was required to say the Pledge of Allegiance (every day) to his home country?

It is now time to consider regulating pressure cookers. This whole incident could have been prevented if we kept pressure cookers out of the wrong hands.

How about all explosive devices including bombs, chemical plants and guns? It does make sense if you are concerned about the unnecessary loss of American lives.

    1. A record is kept of people buying certain types of fertilizer.

  11. Starryflights

I wonder what type of firearms they had when they shot 200 rounds at police? How did they purchase them? No background checks? What capacity were their magazines?

Btw: even though neither were US citizens, they still have constitutional rights, including the right to bear arms.

    1. The one captured last night was a naturalized citizen, on 9/11/12 I believe.

    2. I wonder what size the magazines were that I heard on TV during the firestorm in Watertown? It sure sounded like salvos and not from just one side.

Closing the garage sale loophole should be one of our top legislative priorities. Pressure cookers can currently be bought at garage and yard sales without a background check.

    1. Starry said the same thing and got pounced on. I suppose politics now governs sensitivity? Let’s at least be consistent.

Actually, reegardless of who says it, it is an incredibly stupid concept. However, if 30,000 people a year lost their lives because of pressure cookers I expect they would go the way of the dodo bird.

Additionally, pressure cookers are dangerous and anyone buying one at a garage sale is taking somewhat of a risk. Valves get old. A pressure cooker even used to prepare food can be dangerous if not working properly. Scalding liquid isn’t real safe. Also don’t buy or use old electric blankets. They catch fire.

Remember that Miranda rights only affect the use of the statements made by the accused. If a court feels that the Miranda rights were withheld incorrectly, it means that the accused’s statement prior to the Miranda rights is not admissible.

If there is plenty of evidence and the statement is not necessary to convict, so what if it gets thrown out? A person doesn’t automatically get acquittal just because the person doesn’t get mirandized.

  14. In regards to the guns….. I’m not sure what they had, but Massachusetts is gun control paradise. So, it WILL be interesting to know what they had and where they got them.

    @Moon-howler
As for Bill Ayers…. I did not bring up up because of Obama. I brought him up because he is an ADMITTED bomber and is famous, so you knew who I was talking about. He attempted what these men DID. So, since it was similar, I used him. I couldn’t remember the name of the Olympics bomber at the time.

    1. The Atlanta bomber was bombing for ‘babies.’

As for Bill Ayers being famous…not so much. He wasn’t a household word like many of the radical leaders of his time.m(Stokley CarMichael, Angela Davis, Tom Hayden et al)

He became famous because the anti-Obama crew tried to paint a birds of the feather flock together image because they had met over community issues. It stuck with the anti-Obama people.

I find it hard to believe that the average person knew anything significant about Bill Ayers based on his 60’s radicalism. Don’t read this as my endorsement of this POS. I just didn’t think it rubbed off on Obama. I have had to rub elbows with some pretty unsavory crud in my day also.

    Bill Who?
