What is wrong with this jerk? Hasn’t America always taken care of her own? The people of Moore, Oklahoma have lost everything they own. They need help and assistance. Yet their own senator thinks that the government should find cuts in the budget before these people, many who don’t have a roof over their heads, get any federal help.

I expect the people of Oklahoma will mete out their own punishment. What an self-centered, selfish idiot. We are a wealthy nation and when our people are in trouble, we need to come to their aid.

Sen. Coburn also doesn’t think the federal government should do anything about requiring shelters. It’s none of their business, according to Coburn.

I actually agree with him that it is not up to the Fed’s to require shelters – it is the State’s or Local responsibility. What would the Fed’s mandate – in Oklahoma, it is a tornado shelter, in Florida it is a Hurricane shelter, etc. If the Fed’s start requiring it, they will look to the Fed’s to fund it.

FEMA is the backup plan for the State’s – no State can afford on its own to have these resources at their disposal – and FEMA needs to be funded. Their vote will be interesting on this, as it affects their very own constituents.

    1. I don’t necessarily think that the feds should be setting requirements but….if they are asked to help bail, they have somewhat of a say in the matter.

How much are they involved in requiring flood insurance?

I think that the feds should help out people in distress. The notion that nothing will be done without finding cuts to offset it is just not American.

Doing nothing–it’s the Republican theme song, isn’t it?
