Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-Texas) also told the park ranger that she should be ashamed of herself. Where do these arrogant sons of bitches get off going out and bullying federal employees who are probably working without pay? These employees don’t make enough when they ARE being paid to put up with the bullshit from these self-serving egotists. Neugebauer obviously has disdain for the rank and file federal employee, as his demeanor shows.

This man should be hung permanently in the Bad Congressman Hall of Shame. He is a disgrace to the office he holds and should immediately apologize to all federal employees. He also needs to stop blaming Harry Reid. The budget originates in the House. Rep. Randy Neugebauer knows what needs to be done to fund the government. He is lying to himself and to all of us. He needs to take much of the blame on himself.

Neugebauer is also a birther. I am sure he had plenty to say about blaming President Obama also. It just wasn’t captured on the video. Why is he even down at the WWII Memorial? It’s obvious that he is grandstanding and stirring up trouble. Perhaps he misses the irony that President Barack Obama’s maternal grandfather was a WWII veteran who sserved under General Patton. The WWII Memorial should not become a the new gathering place for banana republicans who want to continue to stamp their brand on the site. They are not worthy.

I bet these people would be happy to delay for a year…and as for it “working”….well take a look:

    http://www.mercurynews.com/nation-world/ci_24248486/obamacares-winners-and-losers-bay-area
    Excerpt:

Cindy Vinson and Tom Waschura are big believers in the Affordable Care Act. They vote independent and are proud to say they helped elect and re-elect President Barack Obama.

Yet, like many other Bay Area residents who pay for their own medical insurance, they were floored last week when they opened their bills: Their policies were being replaced with pricier plans that conform to all the requirements of the new health care law.

I was laughing at Boehner — until the mail came today,” Waschura said, referring to House Speaker John Boehner, who is leading the Republican charge to defund Obamacare.

“I really don’t like the Republican tactics, but at least now I can understand why they are so pissed about this. When you take $10,000 out of my family’s pocket each year, that’s otherwise disposable income or retirement savings that will not be going into our local economy.”

Both Vinson and Waschura have adjusted gross incomes greater than four times the federal poverty level — the cutoff for a tax credit. And while both said they anticipated their rates would go up, they didn’t realize they would rise so much.

“Of course, I want people to have health care,” Vinson said. “I just didn’t realize I would be the one who was going to pay for it personally.”

Del’s is a family owned Italian Ice enterprise in Rhode Island. Goes back to the 1940’s.

  3. Those placards stating that the memorial or park is closed are inaccurate.

    They should read

Because of the Federal Government SHUTDOWN
    ALL NATIONAL PARKS
    ARE CLOSED
    BY ORDER OF THE PRESIDENT

    1. Cargo, there are rules and procedures in place regardless of who is the President. It all has to do with funding. If the money isn’t there legally, then the money isn’t there. How would you feel if the President ordered the government just to mush on and pretend that the funding is there? I expect you wouldn’t like that one little bit.

Why do you say things like that? It certainly doesn’t sell your point.

I find that many conservatives seen to want to cheery pick what stays open and what closes, rather than to look at what is dependent on this funding and what is not.

  4. If the money isn’t there, why is he spending MORE money to close them? It cost NOTHING it leave them alone. Especially the closure of areas that a) are privately funded b) privately owned c) do not have fed’l monitors and private enterprise is PAYING the gov’t to use it and care for it.

Open air memorials cost nothing to leave open….especially when the surrounding area is STILL open.

    1. Now what areas are privately funded? I sure hope you don’t mean WWII memorial.

It doesn’t cost more to close something. You are making up stuff.

  5. Forgot to answer your question.

Why do you say things like that? It certainly doesn’t sell your point.

Because the statement is true. Let the anger of the citizens be directed at the one doing the closing. Not trying to “sell a point.”

    1. No, it isn’t true. It’s what you want to think. That doesn’t make it true.

Very good stuff…new England is very anti chain and more about mom and pop businesses.

    @Emma
    Worth the drive 🙂

  7. Emma

Always worth the drive. Then there’s D. Palmieri’s Bakery in Johnston. And Iggy’s for clamcakes. I don’t know how I ever ended up moving to such a food desert as Manassas, where people think Bella Vita is the best Italian food they’ve ever had. I weep for them.

    1. Bella vita is pretty darn good for Manassas though.

  8. Now THIS is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

The Spencers never expected to be forced out of their Lake Mead home, which they’ve owned since the 70s, but on Thursday, a park ranger said they had 24 hours to get out.

If you haven’t cried when you take your last bite, it’s not bona fide Italian.

    1. I probably haven’t had the real deal.

We can keep talking in circles, but the facts are:

    1. Numerous polls show that the vast majority of Americans don’t want the government shut down over Obamacare or anything else.

    2. A bi-partisan “clean” funding bill was passed by the Senate and sent to the House.

    3. A clear majority of the House would pass the Senate bill if they were allowed to vote on it.

There is absolutely no good reason why the democratic process is being undermined by a minority of one party in one part of the legislature. This is not democracy.

  11. @Cargosquid

That seems excessive. However, at the end it was explained that in order to live there, in what is considered a vacation home, you must have another residence.

For that matter, why can’t I drive down the skyline drive? Just is.

Open the government back up. Then it won’t be an issue.

Cargo, frankly this is what is the problem. There weren’t the votes to fund the govt. Who voted no? (republicans) Now they and you are howling because the government closed now, in some cases not to your liking.

Learn to live with the consequences of one’s actions.

I can’t do some things I want to do. However, I am not whining about it and I would have voted for the CR.

  12. Lyssa

Undermined or taken hostage? America doesn’t deal with kidnappers. I’m beginning to feel like Europe in the early 1930’s.

  13. @Lyssa
I’m beginning to feel like Europe in the early 1930′s.

Yep. The Progressives were in charge there at that time too.

    1. I don’t believe the sidewalks on the mall have been shut down nor have the streets.

      Huge difference here.

  14. @Moon-howler
What do the sidewalks have to do with it.

The illegal alien demonstration is going to be on the supposedly closed mall.
Unlike the WWII vets and other Americans, the administration is bending over backwards to accommodate their base. Even Democrat politicians like Pelosi will be there. You know, the politicians that are too busy to help the Vets got to THEIR memorials.
