If we could have done away with the chortling in the background, Krystal Ball would have been right on.

I no longer feel badly for John Boehner.  He is going to have to step up to the plate and force the votes that need to happen to raise the debt ceiling and it must happen tomorrow.  He must not allow the thugs in Congress  to bring the country down on its economic knees. I feel as though those tea party republicans are enemy combatants attempting to destroy our nation.  They must be treated as such.

If Boehner loves his country more than his speakership  , then he must do what is right, ignore the Hastert rule (which is suspiciously undemocratic in the first place) and bring two important votes to the floor.   We have run out of time.

If Boehner does not,  the President must draw from the various amendments to place an emergency measure in place and by-pass the normal channels.   The bills must be paid.

66 Thoughts to “Krystal Ball: John Boehner, this is your moment”

  1. Wolverine

“I feel as though those tea party republicans are enemy combattants attempting to destroy our nation. They must be treated as such”

What are your orders, Comrade? The gulags or Lubyanka prison?

    1. Why would you say such an obnoxious thing? Elected officials are attempting to harm the country.

For the record, I would try them. I totally disagree with a lot of people in congress. However, I am not accusing them of being an enemy of the United States nor am I accusing them of attempting to harm the country.

I am accusing Ted cruz of that along with his cronies.

  2. Wolverine

Krystal Ball. What did she do? Invite John Boehner to her next Christmas party?

  3. @Wolverine,

Well, if she did invite him, we would know which ‘party favor’ he would be.

Isn’t it a shame that people can'[t party with their own spouse without someone exposing them in a bad light?

The neat thing is, Krystal handled that outrage with such aplomb that she caught the attention of the networks. I am sure that those who ridiculed her didn’t intend for her to end up with an impressive more than 6 figure job and television career.

She gets the last laugh. I find it rather strange that 2 bloggers who pride themselves on their family values tried to exploit a young woman partying with her husband and friends. Of course, had either of those non-gentlemen had that kind of treatment given to their daughters or wives they would be hysterical.

Krystal Ball has nothing to be ashamed of. The nasty men who tried to turn naughty fun into something dirty and nasty for political advantage should hang their heads in shame. I hear one of them is going to run for office. I will remind him of his exploits when the time comes.

    What has happened to Wolverine?

  5. @Moon-howler
“Elected officials are attempting to harm the country.”

Yes…they are. The Democrats forced Obamacare down our throats. The Democrats are granting waivers for political allies by refuse to allow the average citizen the same protections. The Democrats are not funding the gov’t. The Democrats want to raise the debt limit by over $1 trillion. The Democrats are stonewalling investigations. The Democrats are lying about default and trying to panic the country.

    Good of you to notice.

    1. I cannot have a conversation with someone so effen blind and brainwashed that you believe that a default wont cause irreparable harm to this country. What has happened has already caused harm and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Try asking people on social security or retired military what it’s going to be like not getting a check.

You are simply full of crap in your response. This is what your tea party wants and thinks. I rest my case.

  6. Elena

    Cargo,
You are so lucky to have health care? Do you have it through your job? What would happen if you lost your job and no longer had health care through your employer?

Is the ACA perfect, no, but the old system was unsustainable, period. What research have you done on the skyrocketing health care costs? At least the Dems did something! If the republicans were interested in solutions, they would have come to the table with ideas. More than one idea, btw, as was the example of the Dems.

Staying alive is THE most basic right we have as human beings. Life is great as long as you are healthy, you are productive in society, you can contribute, you have the opportunity to live a fulfilled life, “pursue happiness”. But when you aren’t healthy, you finally understand the importance of affordable health care.

It is you who is living in dream world Cargo and Wolverine. Listen to your sane Republican allies, listen to the facts, listen to reason.

  7. Rick Bentley

This whole fiasco, which has caused harm to the GOP, is because Boehner has nothing but air rattling around in his scrotum. I’ve never seen someone in a leadership position who was this abjectly afraid to lead. I question his manhood as well as his patriotism.

Moon-howler :I cannot have a conversation with someone so effen blind and brainwashed that you believe that a default wont cause irreparable harm to this country. What has happened has already caused harm and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Try asking people on social security or retired military what it’s going to be like not getting a check.
You are simply full of crap in your response. This is what your tea party wants and thinks. I rest my case.

Yes, a default of payment on interest due on the debt, would cause serious harm to the economy. However, for a default to occur, the economy would have to have collapsed already. Failure to raise my credit limit has nothing to do with my ability to pay my lightbill, or make my minumum payment on my credit cards. My income determines this, just as the tax revenues to the treasury determines whether or not the interest on the debt gets paid, or the principle on maturing debt gets paid.

The whole idea of this country being in danger of defaulting on the debt is a canard, served up by the media like gravy, to be sopped up and consumed by low-information voters, along with the biscuits being handed out by the party that happens to control most of the government, the “bread” to go along with the “circuses”.

Why do I say this? Because the media makes the SAME argument over and over again. Check this Cato Institute article from 2011 http://www.cato.org/publications/commentary/defaults-debt-ceilings-14th-amendment

Under the 14th Ammendment, (ie. THE LAW), the US cannot default, as long as it has money coming into the treasury every day. If the Federal government cannot borrow to sustain current spending levels, then it must cut spending…and pay the debt FIRST.

The reason why we are in this mess, is this can keeps getting kicked down the road, with neither side of the isle dealing with the issue. Since the Democrats are in charge right now, they get the majority of the blame. Sequestration? It is a joke. It wasn’t a cut in spending. It was a cut in the rate of INCREASE. If I am driving headlong into a brick wall at 100mph, reducing my speed to 98mph doesn’t change the fact that I am going to hit the wall.

We have 2 options: Raise taxes. Cut spending. I can say this; ACA will have serious impacts on the tax side. If I have less to spend on the highly-taxed discretionary part of my income (small as it is), this means less revenue to the treasury. The fact that the overall economy is just sputtering along, and wages have actually DECLINED since 2009, doesn’t help the revenue side.

Yet the Senate Majority Leader insists that the Sequestration cuts be eliminated. This is irresponsible, but really doesn’t mean anything. $17 trillion folks, with a projected $90 Trillion debt on the way, that we will most likely have to finance with debt at the current deficit-spending rate. There is no danger of a default today…a few years from know, it may be unavoidable.

    1. So lets just not pay social security or retired military benefits for a while. The creditors have to come first.

Steve, I don’t think this is a conversation you and I can have. Maybe when its over but not now. I am not willing to take the risk that everything is just going to be ok if we default. I am talking normal definition of default.

I am tired of everyone talking like the debt all happened under this presidency or even the last one. The debt goes back a long ways.

Taxes can be raised and spending reduced. Sequester is a stupid way to reduce spending. No one likes to pay more taxes. However, I have no problem chunking in a little more for the good of the country. I would prefer a reduce the debt specialized fund.

Meanwhile, the debt ceiling needs to be raised and not raising it is the height of irresponsibility.

    2. We need to raise taxes and cut spending. I have no problem designating a debt reduction fund and I would support it more if the American people could even make private donations. There are always ways to cut spending. Sequestration isn’t it.

I simply disagree with you about the default. The opinion piece from the Cato Institute is simply that…an opinion.

I am sticking with my own guru who happens to also be an R. He led me down the right path during the 2008 crash. He has earned his street cred.

  10. @Moon-howler
    You forget.
I am one of those getting a check. In fact, TWO checks. You call me blind, but you are the one blindly supporting the democrats in all things in regards to the shutdown. You are the one blindly parroting the “default” myth. You are the one that blindly supports any spending for any reason, whether the program is a good idea or not. You may “rest your case” but you are still wrong.

Notice, all you replied was the idea that I don’t believe a default would hurt the country…changing what I wrote. I didn’t say that. I said that there won’t be a default. Any default would have to be on purpose, by direct and willful action by the President.

You won’t even support a one year delay….the same delay business and politically connected allies are getting. The Senate rejects ANY changes but the ones that Obama wants. And now the Senate wants to combine the shut down with the debt limit…increasing the crisis, instead of agreeing to a short, small increase in the debt limit, which the House suggested….a clean raise. The Senate wants to add more than ONE TRILLION to the debt limit.

    http://pjmedia.com/vodkapundit/2013/10/15/worst-law-ever/ This says it all.
“…And charging young people money they don’t have for a product they don’t want on websites that don’t work is hardly a recipe for success.”

    @Elena
I’m unemployed. My health care is the VA, which, if it is not service related….still responsible…and that’s if I want to wait a month for an appointment. If I need something…I’ve been paying out of pocket…..for YEARS.

Skyrocketing health costs? You mean..like the new increases that Obama said WOULDN’T HAPPEN? ACA DOES NOT lower health costs. Period. The CBO even states that it will cost TRILLIONS.

    1. You would be surprised to know how little I rely on democratic talking points. The only ‘party’ I belong to is No Labels.

I also have my own built-in financial guru. You know my last name. Google it. See what comes up. Trust me…he is NO Democrat.

I do think you have been blinded by the tea party. There is nothing anyone can say to make me think that this group of thugs is in the right. You can accuse me of being in Obama’s back pocket all you want. It doesn’t make it so. I can think of a lot worse back pockets to be in for that matter. Ted cruz comes to mind. Shall I list more? Cargo, something is wrong with people who think Eric Cantor is a RINO.

  11. Steve Thomas

“I am not willing to take the risk that everything is just going to be ok if we default.”

We can’t default. As Cargo pointed out, this cannot happen, under the law. Why does it have to be cuts to Social Security and VA pensions? Why can’t the cuts come from foreign aid, or subsidies to “green tech”, and other speculative industries? Why can’t we do what Romeny suggested, eliminate exemptions, instead of raisng rates? Why can’t we start capitalizing on the energy leases on public lands, and start taxing the revenue? All of these things would either reduce spending or raise revenue.

    1. Eliminating exemptions would mean what? All exemption? Mortgage exemptions? Health care exemptions?

We can reduce spending but…not at the end of a sword in crisis mode.

I disagree with you and Cargo. I don’t care what you call it. Once the credit is downgraded, the interest rate rises, the stock market tanks, and the housing market deflates, where do we go from there? That old trickle down theory will definitely come into play and what was Wall Street’s problem will become Main Streets problem.

We actually don’t know what the consequences will be. It has not been tested because it is such a stupid idea.

  12. BSnVA

Steve: if what you say is accurate, why is Fitch considering downgrading the US credit worthiness? I mean, if we stop increasing the deficit and pay down our loans, wouldn’t that increase our ratings?

  13. BSnVA

I will repeat for all concerned. Starting in January, my health insurance premiums go down $19 per month.

  14. Steve Thomas

BSnVA :Steve: if what you say is accurate, why is Fitch considering downgrading the US credit worthiness? I mean, if we stop increasing the deficit and pay down our loans, wouldn’t that increase our ratings?

If you read what the credit agencies are saying, it’s two things: Our fiscal situation (spending/Borrowing) and the fact that this administration governs short-term crisis-to-crisis. Yes, if our elected government could come to some agreement that addresses the deficit and spending over the long-term, this would satisfy just about everyone, credit agencies, bond-holders, wallstreet, and most importantly, the people.

And my premiums went up. I’m one of those damn-healthy people who rarely goes to the doctor, who will take on the financial cost of “risk-pooling”.

    1. @Steve, did your premiums go up last year? Mine seemed to go up every year when I worked. I am assuming your health care comes from your employer.

I was one of those who paid into risk pooling for years with no return. I was a real cheap date for decades.

  15. Rick Bentley

“I will repeat for all concerned. Starting in January, my health insurance premiums go down $19 per month”.

Mine went down by a dollar a week.

I see there’s a “boomerang effect” in the polls where not only is the GOP’s popularity going down, support for Obamacare is rising. I definitely fit into that. I’ve “boomeranged” into realizing that Obamacare is not only a noble undertaking, but actually the only game in town on the rather important issue of cutting health care cost in America. Right now we pay more than anyone else – http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.pbs.org%2Fnewshour%2Frundown%2F2012%2F10%2Fhealth-costs-how-the-us-compares-with-other-countries.html&h=7AQFse8hIAQElJnvtQ6dcM53_FDbFq14eMwKDILv9xrxTIQ&s=1 – and it’s unsustainable.

Reducing health care costs will in fact reduce our debt, and perhaps in a very huge way. Seems like a better path to follow than the tea Party’s idea of a good time (defaulting, causing a recession, and rising above the rubble to salute the flag).

  16. @Moon-howler
That is the FIRST time that I’ve seen you support cuts.

As for the opinion that there would be no default…do you trust MOODY’S..the rating agency? They state that a failure to raise the debt limit would NOT cause a default.

As for the current “crisis”….. I’m done.

Americans have decided to drive off the cliff.
The Democrats are extremists that put party and power over the country.
The Republicans (establishment) just want to keep power and perks without having any responsibility.
The House refuses to fight the usurpation of powers.
Most of the media has become the propaganda arm for the Democrats.
The public refuses to become informed. Nor do they care about abuses by the gov’t as long as they get their gov’t cheese.

Raise the debt ceiling. Why limit it to 1+ trillion. Lets just raise it by 5 or 6 trillion. That MIGHT get us through the next three years. Kill the economy with more regulation. I’m sure that the progressives have even more great ideas. Inflate the money supply to keep the stock bubble going. Those Congressional stock portfolios can’t be placed at risk. Its only money. I want every single progressive idea implemented to the fullest. I give up. Implement Obamacare without any waivers, etc. Grant all of the illegal aliens amnesty…oh sorry, enact “reform.” Pay no attention to the corruption and cronyism…the politicians are just misunderstood.

Apparently, Americans are stupid enough to fall for the progressive scams. So, since they want to give even more power to the feds…go for it. And don’t forget to let the NSA and IRS do what they want. Its for our own good….. Forget Constitutional principles. We should let the President do what he wants. Giving out waivers and setting up sweetheart deals is good for the country. Spreads the wealth.

I guess I’ll join the welfare crowd and play the system…. might as well apply for any unemployment benefits and pretend to look for work, if I’m still eligible. I’m not going to fight for the good of the country anymore. I’m going to become just like a Democrat…. What’s in it for me?

    1. Let me know how that works out for you, Cargo. As I have said time and time again, I don’t belong to a party. My husband does. I don’t. I probably don’t support the same cuts you do. That doesn’t mean I don’t support cuts. I would probably start with overlap.

I don’t think people who apply for unemployment are on welfare. I suppose you think the same thing about medicare and ss? How about disability? VA benefits? Military retirement?

I am just surprised you got so taken in by these people.

    2. @CARgo, you know when you get your teaching position you are going to have to keep your mouth shut. You can’t expose a captive audience to your opinion.

  17. Rick Bentley

The Tea Party is like that guy who ends up aiming a gun at his girlfriend, and telling her that he loves her too much to let her go. Their supposed love for America is very analogous to that. They don’t actually love America. They love their own unrealistic, schizophrenic projection of what they think America is or should be. They are our worst.

    1. I agree with you, Rick. I am so tired of the whining and posturing. They have playing the victim to a fine science.

I think THEY ought to worry about being primaried rather than normal republicans. Hopefully the American business community has a long memory when it comes to donating to these thugs.

  18. Rick Bentley

Bunch of buffoons that like to dress up and shout slogans and pretend they’re real. Our worst people, congregated together and self-identifying with an absurd moniker. F em.

  19. Rick Bentley

And you know what the funniest part of this all is? That proves my theory that these people are :
    A. Way out of touch with what’s real
    B. Stupid ?

The deal only goes into next January/February. This is a political non-starter, that hurts them in the polls, AND THEY CAN’T STOP THEMSELVES FROM DOING IT AGAIN.

    1. Political crack for tea party republicans?

  20. Hey Rick…..know what?

Go F yourself….since you feel that way about me. Oh…you didn’t mention me by name…just those that think like me?

    FOAD.

    1. Let’s not wish death on people. I don’t want the bad karma here. Karma is a bitch.

I am assuming that the “AD” means “and die?”

I have stopped saying [ES, TB, AD] because of bad Karma.

  21. Kelly_3406

    @Rick Bentley

There are definitely winners and losers as a result of Obamacare. If you are old and/or in poor health, Obamacare is a great deal. It is NOT a good deal for just about everyone else, particularly thirty-somethings and below. If you have grandkids, you should apologize that your generation is soaking them to pay for your healthcare.

I have been notified that healthcare premiums are going up at my place of employment. This early notification is probably intended to “prepare” us for a substantial increase.

    1. If you are old, you have medicare. If you are poor, you have Medicaid. If you are in the middle or if you are in a job that has no benefits and never will, like food services, the aCA might be a winner for you. Also, if you have young adult kids, or pre existing conditions, the ACA will help you out. it will help you out if you have maxed out because of catastrophic illness.

Actually, I don’t know why you say that about grandkids. I can’t imagine telling anyone that not having health care is a good idea. I was never without it. EVER. You just never know.

Kelly, you are talking like the grandkids get nothing in return. They are getting health coverage at an affordable cost..maybe something they couldn’t afford privately. I know my kids couldn’t when they were that age. Pregnancy, wrecks, chronic illnesses can all hit. Then what are they going to do? To assume everyone is healthy until 40 is just not realistic.

I found that health premiums went up every year when I worked. We got that warning each and every year. I don’t know why this year would be different.

  22. Wolverine

“What has happened to Wolverine?” Laughing like hell at someone defending a grown woman who had her pictures taken at a Christmas party pretending to commit fellatio on a fake penis attached to the nose of her now ex-husband. In this day and age of going viral on the net? Knucklehead! And she runs for office as a Dem? Figures. Now, if that isn’t a belly roar that should last a lifetime.

    1. She was 22 years old when those pictures were taken. They were acting silly, like young people do. Perhaps not everyone is as puritanical as you are. It certainly didn’t hurt her, now did it?

I am guessing that you probably missed the summer of love, judging from your shock. (not too shocked to go look, however.)

Feel free to laugh at me all you want. I will continue to defend Krystal Ball, even though she handled the problem herself, like most competent young women. What do you say to the pigs who attempted to politically exploit her? That exploitation certainly didn’t have the desired outcome, did it now?

  23. Carlos Danger

    BSnVA :
I will repeat for all concerned. Starting in January, my health insurance premiums go down $19 per month.

Just curious… And you do not have to answer if its too personal. What are your deductibles now v.s. what they were under your old plan?

I do believe your rates may have gone down but I’ll bet you deductable has gone thru da roof.

  24. Wolverine

Cargo — Mr. Bentley is doing quite well at proving once again the old adage about the tediousness of dealing with new converts…or suckers…whatever….

  25. Carlos Danger

    Rick Bentley :
And you know what the funniest part of this all is? That proves my theory that these people are :
    A. Way out of touch with what’s real
    B. Stupid ?
The deal only goes into next January/February. This is a political non-starter, that hurts them in the polls, AND THEY CAN’T STOP THEMSELVES FROM DOING IT AGAIN.

I’m sorry but as Peter Griffin would say… This really grinds my gears. The only thing I hear from some on the left is how stupid, dumb, out-of-touch the tea party is. That the movement is dead, insignificant, losers, tea baggers, etc. Lets not forget that they have been compared to terrorists, the Taliban, hostage takers, arsonists… am I missing anything?

Yet they get credit for taking down the most powerful government on planet earth. Weird.

    1. It’s down? Don’t think so.

  26. Lyssa

Forgot despot. Casting fear seems to be a major MO of the TP’ers.

  27. Starryflights

Once again, the tea goobers go down in defeat!

  28. @Moon-howler
You don’t “belong” to a party but you sure do support the Democrats on basically everything and apologize for the President and his policies.

As for joining the people on welfare…I meant that I would not be working…notice…I said that I would pretend to look for work.
I haven’t been since I never know how my daughter is going to be….

And since I don’t look for work…I was honest and didn’t apply for unemployment insurance.

Nope…I’m joining the liberals. I’m going to sponge off of society.

    1. No, I absolutely don’t apologize for the President. I generally support him or when I don’t I ignore it. I pretty much did the same thing over Bush and Clinton also.

I generally do vote for Democrats because the Republican candidates are so horrible and they don’t support my views. Do you seriously think I would vote for Cuccinelli, Jackson or Obenshain?

I used to belong to a party though. Does that count?

I don’t guess you know how offensive it sounds to imply that liberals sponge off of society. I actually know some republicans who live off the bad back theory. They don’t live around here but they would rather vote for satan than for a democrat. I certainly don’t judge all republicans by those folks. I also don’t judge all republicans by what I have seen out of the likes of Ted Cruz and his sycophants either.

Cruz needs to apologize to the American people.

Someone brought up an interesting point. Why does someone who has been in the senate less than a year have so much power over those 40 or so people in the House? Who is holding what over whose head? I don’t think that tea party candidates are in any position to be threatening to primary those they don’t think meet conservative muster. I think the folks who can go out and work with others will rule the day.

The little attempt at playing Lord of the Flies is over.

    2. On a totally separate note, I hope your wife is ok and that your insurance company isn’t trying to cheat you.

Are you driving her to work or do you have rental car on your policy?

  29. Scout

@Kelly (2007 hours on the 16th): Every year about this time of year, without fail, I get a notice from my place of business that my health care premia will go up in the coming year. What’s the significance of that?

  30. Lyssa

“The health care reform law will not be defunded or delayed. No taxes will be cut, and the deal calls for no new cuts to federal spending or limits to social welfare programs. The only things Republicans achieved were billions of dollars in damage to the economy, harm to the nation’s reputation and a rock-bottom public approval rating.”

    1. That just makes me angry. I am too tired to be enraged. All of this posturing and gamesmanshipping could have been avoided.

In the final analysis, they didn’t have the votes to do anything but take us, once again, up to the brink of disaster.

  31. BSinVA

My 2013 deductible was $500 for our two person family. My 2014 deductible is the same….$500 for our two person family. The prescription drug deductible is the same. I currently pay $5 for generic drugs which will go up to $7 (I can afford that). An emergency room visit will cost the same as 2013. Preventive measures such as bone-mass measurements, breast cancer screenings, cardio vascular disease screenings, cervical and vaginal cancer screenings, colorectal cancer screenings, diabetes screenings, flu shots, hepatitus B shots, HIV screenings, obesity screenings, pneumococcal shots, prostate cancer screenings, STI screenings and a yearly physical are all free thanks to the ACA. @Carlos Danger

  32. Scout

Wolverine raises in the third comment a reference to Ms. Ball’s Christmas Party. I don’t know that reference, but the ensuing thread leads me to some idea that sometime, somewhere, Ms. Ball was rowdy at a party. The part that puzzles me, however, is what the relationship is between the Christmas Party and Boehner’s leadership during the shutdown fiasco. I heard some story about members of the Republican caucus breaking out in a rendition (probably not a very good one) of “Amazing Grace”, but I heard nothing about rowdy activity. The “Amazing Grace” thing is pretty bizarre, and probably bespeaks some great collective mental stress, but it doesn’t seem particularly meaningful. How could a Christmas Party long ago be any more meaningful? Wolverine probably has an explanation, but it’s not obvious on the surface of the comment.

    1. I think that was the only thing he could think of to say…something nasty about her comments to Speaker Boehner.

I doubt if John Boehner had been acting frisky at a party at age 22 we would have heard anything about it. The double standard is alive and well.

Wolverine thought ‘laughing’ at me for defending her would really get to me.

I have probably seem sexism in about every form it comes in over my life. Not much shocks me other than that stupid jerk who told the story about women putting aspirin between their knees. I was dumbfounded that anyone in this day and age would date themselves that much as an old fogey. mr. Fries I think was his name.

  33. I m glad that Speaker Boehner stepped up to the plate and held the line.

He had a rowdy bunch of young ones to deal with.

  34. @Moon-howler
    Wife is ok.
Other insurance company totaled the car and provided a rental.
Wife decided that, after 4 rear end collisions, she would just bite the bullet and get a new car. I hate the idea that we have to put out thousands…when we were the victims, but I want her to be confidant in the car.

    Got a 2010 Subaru.

Sure am glad we refinanced…the new car payment is roughly equal to what we saved on the house note.

Now I have to put in a claim for her pain and suffering. THAT adjuster has not called us back.

    1. Maybe you need a lawyer. You do know that in Virginia you can double dip on medical claims…in that you can use your own health care and also whatever you get from the auto policy. Its perfectly legal.

  35. Rick Bentley

Cargo … it appears, from your heartfelt reaction, that the truth hurts.

And, for the record, I didn’t tell the Tea Party partisans, i.e the pathological nutjobs who opposed responsible tax rates 13 years ago (back when the budget was balanced) and are now pretending that national debt is somebody else’s fault, to “FOAD”. But I am prone to using the more reasonable terminology of asking those people to go crawl under their rock, let the grownups run the country, and shut the f up.

Your rock awaits you. There’s plenty of space in there and FOX News channel plays all day long under the rock. You can sit under there and stew and watch while the Republican party self-immolates, and mutter all the while about how stupid everyone else is.

“If you are old and/or in poor health, Obamacare is a great deal. It is NOT a good deal for just about everyone else, particularly thirty-somethings and below. ”

Let’s hope that it’s a step towards cost containment – for getting the cost of health care down over time. That would be good for everyone. 17%+ of our GNP is health care costs, and we’re paying twice as mich as other countries. I don’t hear anyone else putting forth any ideas here, even though it’s pretty clearly the most screwed up aspect of our society.

“If you have grandkids, you should apologize that your generation is soaking them to pay for your healthcare.”

This was already happening. We all pay for everyone’s health care, either at tax time or when we pay for our own insurance. Obamacare seeks to extend the protection that the poor and rich both enjoy to the working middle class. It’ll work well, if it can move towards containing costs. I hope that it does.

Moon: I don’t think you give Wolve enough credit. He probably was trying to say that something momentous in the national evolution of health care policy took place at a Christmas party that Krystal Ball attended some years ago. Interesting insight, but somewhat obscure, so I’m hoping Wolverine will fill in the blanks. I’ve had a lot of trouble following what has just happened in Congress. I think if I had Wolve’s missing piece, it might make more sense.

Let me try and help out, friend.

You see, the best way to describe Krystal Ball would be a left-wing equivalent of Sarah Palin, except that Palin managed to actually get elected to office. Much like Palin parlayed half a stint as governor into six figure speaking fees, Ball managed to turn internet pictures of her performing fellatio on a (ahem) “device” into a gig at MSNBC. Both women have approximately the same substance.

So, there you have it. Your missing piece is a red rubber dong. If you’re still confused, I have a few suggestions on where it might fit.

    1. Wrong. Krystal Ball hasn’t traveled all over the country shrieking in sound bytes. The internet pictures were of her horsing around party with a couple friends and her husband, posing while acting silly. I would consider the pictures going viral very much an invasion of her privacy. However, in a digital world, I suppose there is no longer any privacy. The red rubber dong you are speaking of was Rudolph’s nose, worn by her husband ON HIS FACE.

But work it up anyway you want to for your own personal enjoyment.

However, I will publically set the record straight. Interesting to find out that Cato watches The Cycle. How else would you know how much substance there is to Krystal Ball. But if you don’t like the message, make sure you brand the messenger with a scarlet letter.

  41. Here we go…this is a woman owned blog. Elena and I are simply not going to tolerate sexist remarks about females. From here on out, comments we feel are sexist will be taken down. Email me if you have a problem with this. Or…email Elena if you think she will smile more kindly on sexist remarks.

CAto: that sounds like private activity in a private (although apparently not as private as she might have preferred) setting. Wolve was saying that it has a bearing on Boehner’s handling of health care. The connection remains obscure.

I think there’s another blog that provides a safer forum for degrading women presumed to be sexually active.

    1. Indeed there is. Thanks for putting out that reminder. Actually I can think of 2.
