Mike Hethmon, for those of you who do not remember, was one of the outside sources giving Prince William County legal advice on how to write their “Rule of Law Resolution.” There are just some things that come back and bite you in the ass. This is one of them.  Surely Prince William County could seek advice from someone who didn’t have this alleged dirty little secret.

Don’t expect other blogs to be covering this tawdry story.  I am sure it will be brushed under the rug.  The anti-immigration blog might be crawling back under its rock with this news.

Mike Hethmon tried to protect us from anchor babies.  If this charge is true, who is going to protect the anchor babies and all the rest of the children from Mike Hethmon?

Mike Hethmon advises US on Rule of Law????

Mike Hethmon is innocent until proven guilty.

  1. IVAN

PWC was part of a “lab experiment” and I guess he was the “mad scientist”. Of course he is innocent until proven guilty.

  2. @Ivan

yes, he is innocent until proven guilty. I should have put that in the text of the post.

  3. Pat.Herve

Well, look at the NRA Lawyer – who was already found guilty of murder – yes, he did have it overturned, but the retrial still has not taken place all these years later.

Ummmmm…. other than this man being a possible dirtbag…..how does this relate to his advice on illegal immigration? Just because he might be a scumbag and if convicted, should do VERY hard time, does not mean his legal advice was bad.

    1. Some of the smarter supervisors pretty much dropped their support for the original resolution because they didn’t want the county to get the pants sued off of itself.

Usually people who do scumbag things don’t have the best advice to offer.

Did you look at the link I provided? That should answer your question.

Anyone in any sort of policymaking position has a high moral and ethical bar already set for them by the Democrats. It’s so hard to match their rectitude.

  6. @Emma, I don’t think political party really matters in this case, do you? I fail to see how we can make a distinction regarding Prince William County since the only 2 who didn’t vote for the original Resolution were Pete Candland and Frank Principi. Neither man held office when the original was voted for.

The original Resolution as voted for unanimously by 2 Democrats and 6 Republicans.

Sort of reminds me of this case, a bit closer to home here in VA. Ironically, this guy is a big gun-control advocate…: http://www.nbc12.com/story/25906280/grand-jury-indicts-del-joe-morrissey-for-relationship-with-teen

For those who may not recall, Joe brought an AK-47 onto the HOD floor, held it aloft one-handed with magazine inserted and his thumb on the trigger, and proceeded to lecture pro-2A delegates on the need for stricter gun laws, as a matter of public safety.

And now Joe has been indicted for having sex with a teenaged girl, a child under the law. Of course he is “innocent until proven guilty”….but the evidence is compelling:

“Prosecutors say the night of August 23 was not the first time the pair was intimate. They argue Morrissey took the girl out for dinner repeatedly after she started working at the firm and that on August 20, the two had sex repeatedly at his office. Police have copies of text messages from both parties confirming the sexual encounter, according to the court documents”.

    1. Other than Morrissey wasn’t advising PWC and consensual sex? If you wanted to talk about Morrissey on the blog, I wish you had just done it. Clearly the two cases have nothing in common other than both men are operating in a political world.

Morrissey is obviously a jerk and may be a creep. However, there is a huge difference between a grown man having sex with someone who appears to be a grown woman and a little girl. 8 year olds do not look like grown women. I am not going to defend or indict Morrissey. I don’t know enough about it other than what I have read in the Richmond papers. What his case reminds ME of is the delegate (yes, I believe he might have been Republican but I wouldn’t swear to it and it really doesn’t matter anyway.)from Charlottesville who was chairman of the board of directors for one of the foundation schools. He bought one of the high school girls who was a junior at the time a baby blue convertible and gave her a job of sorts. They carried on some sort of affair right under the noses of school officials and he eventually went to Reno for a quickie divorce from his wife and married the teenage girl. I don’t know what his 3 or 4 kids did who also attended the school system. They were probably pretty embarrassed. The delegate also had a lot of money and some old Virginia property and only one finds around Charlottesville.

Old goats and teen girls/young adult women aren’t all that unusual. Is it illegal? Only the paper work. I don’t know how you prove Morrisey knew anyway. Old goat men and little girls, however, causes revulsion in all of us.

Both are innocent until proven guilty by a jury of their peers.

    Moon,

I strongly suspect the fact that Mike Hethmon had some involvement in the PWC RoL debate several years ago, his party affiliation in a race in another state are the reasons you deemed this “blog-worthy”. Joe Morrissey’s “flamboyant” advocacy of attempting to limit my 2A rights, as well as his party affiliation are what have kept this case on my radar.

Both stand accused of doing something forbidden by law, with minors. Both are entitled to due-process, and if found guilty, both should be sentenced to just punishments. Arguing degrees-of-wrongness is pointless. If guilty both are wrong.

My point in bringing up Morrisey was an academic counter-balance, not an attempt to defend Hethmon. As much as I love the 2A, if the dude from “Sons of Guns” is found guilty of what he stands accused of, I hope the guy gets 20-to-life in general-population. Same for the rest.

    1. Your suspicions are half wrong. I didn’t know Mike Hethmon was running for office. His involvement in the PWC resolution was the only reason I considered this story blogworthy. Party affiliation isn’t as strong of a determiner with me as it is with you. Look at some of my friends.

Not sure what the dude from sons of guns did or what that even is. I am impressed with the play on words if it is a show.

I don’t think that any adult having consensual sex with a 17 year old is even closely equivalent to diddling an 8 year old. I think common sense has to kick in at some point. Is Morrissey a creep? I have no idea but if he is 55 and fooling around with a 17 year old, even consensually, I would say thawt’s probably a yes. However, it still doesn’t have the societal taboos that pad touching an 8 year old does. Just is.

I really don’t care that Morrissey is D and Hethmon is R. Creeps come in all party flavors.

Can somebody please shut off the video? It keeps coming on repeatedly no matter where one is on the blog.

    1. I have spent an hour trying to take that video off of auto play. I cannot do it. If someone knows how, tell me.

Otherwise, just go put it on pause the minute it comes on. I agree, it’s annoying.
