PWC Cops assaulted 6 different times over Thanksgiving weekend

When so much media attention is being paid to perceived innocent victims of cop abuse, it’s important to remember that law enforcement officers go out daily not knowing what kind of behavior they are going to encounter. Will their encounters be annoying, harmful or deadly? Over Thanksgiving weekend, Prince William County police officers were assaulted 6 different times. They were kicked, hit, shoved covered in broken glass, and generally abused. According to insidenova.com:

Prince William County police officers were assaulted in six separate incidents over Thanksgiving weekend.

The first case happened on Thanksgiving at 3:54 p.m., when officers were called to a home in the 12200 block of Charles Lacy Drive in Manassas to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 59-year-old Manassas woman, told police she was assaulted following an argument. The suspect resisted when officers tried to arrest him, kicking one officer in the face, said Prince William police spokesman Jonathan Perok. Minor injuries were reported.

Campus sexual assault: Let’s not stop at UVA

Dailypress.com:

RICHMOND – Legislative support is coalescing behind a proposal to require that university officials quickly turn rape allegations over to law enforcement, or potentially face prosecution themselves.

A trio of Republican House leaders backed the requirement Monday, though they didn’t spell out potential punishments. In the state Senate, Democratic Minority Leader Richard Saslaw said last week that he’s working on a similar bill, and that he’ll attach the possibility of a year-long prison sentence for violators.

Open Thread………………………………………December 1

December is the month of bare trees.  Bare trees are my favorites.  They make great photography subjects.  Bare trees need to decorations but a nice coating of ice or snow does enhance them greatly.
I just ordered a wall sculpture featuring three bare trees.  I hesitate to take it out of the box because I know the rest of the family will hoot and boo.
Happy December!  Many important events in my life happened in December.  The bad news is, the rest of the months are pretty lean.

Washingtonpost:

D.C. Police said protesters continue to slow traffic in the city.

Protesters had previously blocked the 14th Street bridge but that has since reopened.

At 9 a.m., D.C. police said no arrests have been made because the group continues to move along, heading eastbound on Constitution Avenue. Police have temporarily closed Constitution Avenue in both directions between 9th and 12th streets as the protesters move through that area.

D.C. Police officials said as long as the protesters are not standing still, they won’t be arrested. If the protesters fail to obey three warnings, given by police on the scene they could be arrested, according to D.C. Police. But so far, no warnings have been given.

What will they pick at next?

Apparently the time-honored tradition of not picking at presidential kids is over.  According to the Washington Post:

The communications director for a Republican member of Congress ignited a firestorm this weekend after she criticized President Obama’s teenage daughters in a Facebook post that touched a nerve even for Americans accustomed to political mudslinging.

“Try showing a little class,” Elizabeth Lauten, communications director for Rep. Stephen Lee Fincher (Tenn.), wrote Friday in a Facebook posting addressed to Sasha, 13, and Malia, 16, chastising them for their comportment during last week’s annual turkey pardoning event at the White House.

“Rise to the occasion. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at the bar,” Lauten wrote. “And certainly don’t make faces during televised, public events.”
