Last night, shortly after midnight, 2 Ferguson policemen were shot and seriously wounded.  The shooter is still at bay and a manhunt is underway.

Black leadership is denouncing the violence as is the Obama administration.  No person of decency accepts this horrible behavior towards people who were just standing there in front of their station  at the end of their shift.

So where does it end?  The violence  really needs to stop.  We can’t have crazies picking off cops.  We also can’t have cops and municipalities committing acts like those cited in the Ferguson investigation.  That time has passed.   The protestors have gotten pretty much all they have asked for.  Maybe its time to work towards better relations in another way that exposes our officers to less violence.

What people forget is that cops don’t always see the best of society.  Perhaps its a natural thing to start developing stereotypes when dealing with people who aren’t behaving themselves according to the laws of society.  Cops have to resist the urge to categorize individuals.  They have to rise above it.  If they can’t, then they shouldn’t be cops.

It sure isn’t a job I would want.  A cop’s days are often filled with a lot of toads, regardless of where you are.   I am not sure I could always rise above it all.

On a good note, Our cops here in Prince William County are pretty much the good guys.  They are courteous and helpful nowadays.  Now years ago, I wouldn’t have said that.  Chief Deane and now Chief Hudson wouldn’t stand for them not being professional.   That just speaks well of everyone.

12 Thoughts to “More violence towards law enforcement”

There it is. There is always that “but.”

As Obama and Holder have both said, Yes, it is tragic and uncalled for and we feel for the families. Violence is not the answer. No decent person would be involved in this… BUT, the cops are insensitive, they overract, they are racist, THEY need to A, B, C & D , they need to work more with the community.

Has anyone from Fergusen or involved in Fergusen or its debates yet apologized for supporting, advocating , accepting, emotionally defending, ramping up, repeating, – justifying – any of the false narratives that are the – source – of Fergusen? I want to hear that first, then I want to hear a statement about the work that a police officer faces or the situation in Fergusen without the “But”

    1. Hearing what those policemen face daily is missing from the narrative. It shouldn’t be. Let’s put it this way, I really wouldn’t want to work in that town.

Having a cartoon featuring the President of the United States as a chimpanzee is totally unacceptable and racist.

Having a cartoon featuring the President of the United States as a chimpanzee is totally unacceptable and racist.

Lincoln is the first President I can recall being portrayed as a Chimp. I suspect there are numerous others with the Chimp being used to convey intellectual characteristics not racial ones.

    1. Where are my waders? Its getting deep in here. So the chimp is a highly intelligent animal. They were complementing Lincoln? Obama?

      I don’t think so.

I think they were trying to make Abe look like a dumb monkey.

    1. I am not that old. It doesn’t matter. We know what the current intent was. That’s all that should matter.

Ferguson, Missouri, is suffering. Some of the protest destruction debris has yet to be cleaned up. Businesses are losing their property insurance. Home values are falling rapidly, many by as much as half. People who want to leave the place cannot because no one wants to buy their home. The town may see a wave of foreclosures and short sales as people just give up on the market and flee. As a consequence, the town’s tax base will be badly affected, and services and schools will suffer.

And the DOJ found that Officer Wilson had done nothing wrong.

I would say Wilson did nothing illegal. The DOJ pointed out all the things the police were doing wrong (including Wilson) but those wrongs are civil issues not criminal ones. Our legal system insulates police from being held accountable on a criminal level and taxpayers are on the hook for the big civil penalties.

  6. Wolve

The DOJ investigation of Wilson pertained only to how he personally handled the Brown incident. He did nothing wrong. Don’t confuse that with the wider DOJ investigation of the Ferguson PD.

The DoJ report was clearly written by– you guessed it – the race based office of justice. These were lawyers not statisticians or even political scientists, who would be – are – embarassed by the use of the statistics in the report. Like the hands up don’t shoot fantasy, these statistical lies will be exposed – not by the maindrain media but by and serious analysts. In the interim, the damage will have been done. Success!

    1. Hands up don’t shoot was started by protesters, not DOJ.

Those were some pretty inappropriate examples given, don’t you think? do you think that the Ferguson PD was atypical or do you think that sort of behavior goes on across the nation?
