Washingtonpost.com:

ORLANDO — As Donald Trump rallied thousands of his supporters in the home state of one of his chief rivals, he did something he not done before: He asked those assembled before him to raise their right hand and pledge that they will vote for him in the Florida Republican primary.

“Can I have a pledge? A swearing?” the presidential candidate said, extending his right hand into the air. “Raise your right hand.”

Trump then began leading them in a pledge: “I do solemnly swear.” The crowd echoed him: “I do solemnly swear.”

Trump continued: “That I — no matter how I feel, no matter what the conditions, if there’s hurricanes or whatever.” The crowd tried repeating that back, but largely failed in doing so. Trump reassured them that they were doing fine: “That’s good enough.”

Trump continued the pledge: “Will vote on or before the 12th for Donald J. Trump for president.” The crowd repeated the pledge and cheered.

Trump continues to have more delusions of grandeur and to get more Hitlerian.   For those who are offended by my comparisons or believe the Hitler Principle is being applied….Hell, I am not the one out there raising my hand, pledging allegiance to a jackass.  In fact, my father fought a war to get rid of that jackass.  I am just noting the very obvious similarities in behavior.

Maybe its time for some of the Americans to wake up and realize what they have on their hands.

28 Thoughts to “Seig Heil”

    Oh, come on now.

    Mr.Godwin calling.

  2. punchak

Fear and smear tactics ! Intimidation. “Paul Ryan will have to pay big, if he
    doesn’t get along with me.”

“Get’em out of here. Get’em out”
Has there been ONE Trump event, where he has not told his
goons to get’em out? Protesters, that is.

To actually have “his” people swear allegiance, with arm raised, IS, in MHO, hitleresque.

No matter what poor appearance Trump gives, there is ONLY one candidate who did nothing to rescue Americans who were vastly outnumbered and under brutal attack for 13 hours. After her ambassador and supposed friend was killed in that attack, she then supported a false media narrative that a planned attack was not to blame in order to help Obama win an election.

Until the movie came out, I did not realize that the Benghazi attack lasted for 13 HOURS. Aviano Air Base, Italy is only a couple of hours away from Benghazi by air. It is inconceivable that no close air support was provided to fend off the attackers. It would be fair to excuse the lack of response for a bombing or some other attack that was over very quickly. But for an attack that lasted for 13 hours, there is no excuse.

It is positively Kafka-esque to focus on Trump’s huge ego when the leading Democratic candidate has American blood on her hands. Maybe it is a tactic to divert the voters’ attention from the fact that when Hillary got the proverbial 2am call, she failed miserably. I did not vote for Trump in the primary. But it is hard to imagine that any Republican, including Trump, would sit on his hands while Americans were being slaughtered.

… and progressive socialism is only one murder away from utopia.

  5. I am really surprised at you all. Not in a good way. Stop with the deflections.

We are talking about someone displaying incredibly poor behavior on a daily basis.

Are you incapable of addressing that behavior?

I am not going to address Benghazi here. IN fact, I am going to make it a dog whistle moderation word. Chris Stevens was a good friend of Hillary Clinton. Republicans started making this a political issue while it was going on. I saw it on this blog and I heard Mitt Romney doing it.

It should not have been a political issue.

I just think its crass to say that Hillary Clinton has blood on her hands after how many people were killed in these wars? Give me an effing break.

If Trump had told his supporters to drop to their knees and kiss his butt, they would have done so. I am amazed at how his supporters so meekly succumb to his whims. Why do they allow themselves to be humiliated this way?

You need to take a look in the mirror. If you switch “Obama” for “Trump” in your quote above, it would exactly describe your behavior over the last 8 years.

  8. Starryflights

Hey, don’t blame me. Trump was the one who supposedly told Romney to drop to his knees! You saw the reaction at the Florida rally to Trump’s demands for allegiance. No democrat has made such demands from supporters like that@Kelly_3406

  9. Kelly, you have fooled yourself into thinking you are being objective.

    10 different hearings….nothing new here.’

You won’t see me hammering Clinton–either one of them. You will see me hammering Trump. I will not stop. He is totally unacceptable to me. I feel badly that you don’t find him totally unacceptable.

  10. Kelly_3406

    @MoonHowler

All she has to do is explain why she did not insist on military action in the 13 hours that the attack took place. If Colin Powell had been in the same position, he would have been pounding the SecDef’s desk demanding action to rescue his people. Why wasn’t she doing that? I find her strange passivity during the attack to be very disquieting.

She too is totally unacceptable to be president. The question is: who is more unacceptable –Trump or Hillary? People on her watch may have died needlessly given that decisive action may have saved them.

    1. Or they might have died anyway. You are second guessing from afar. Furthermore, you are talking like she was the President.

Its far too political. I am far more concerned over the nearly 4000 killed in the middle east and the 50,000 with life altering mental and physically injured…all over lies about who has what and did what to whom.

Let’s stick to the matter at hand. The best way for you to not end up with Clinton is to insist on a real candidate on the Republican ticket. That’s what this thread is about.

Lastly, I don’t feel Clinton’s behavior is the least bit unacceptable. I understand that your world view might not accept her policies.

Does it not bother you that any candidate, Democratic or Republican would have supporters Seig Heil at them? I find it horrifying.

Kelly, about 30 people were rescued from the Benghazi compound. Do some research and quit depending on the multiplex for your political information. This thread is about Trumo and his goose-stepping hordes.@Kelly_3406

  12. Cargosquid

    The irony….

Trump wants his followers to swear…but hated the oath in Virginia saying that you would vote Republican in the general if you voted in the primary.

    1. yes, that is ironic, or just plain hypocritical.

  13. Pat.Herve

    @Kelly_3406
Kelly – can you point me to an official source saying that Clinton did not request support after the Benghazi attack?

Why is the CIA not in anyone’s cross hairs – certainly, Clinton was not responsible for the CIA Annex – where Woods and Dougherty were killed? How did the attackers find out about the annex – was it before the attack, when the team (Woods and others) went to the consulate and returned or when the Special Ops rescue team went there from the airport? What was the CIA response? Certainly, the CIA had more time to respond than Dept of State.

Did the actions of those at the CIA Annex reveal their own location and bring the attack on themselves?

    1. I have to insist that the response goes to the open thread. This has nothing to do with Trump’s irrational issues.

  14. Wolve

In the meantime, back at the Democratic Party campaign ranch, we have Alinsky debating Trotsky over the best methods for destroying the American Republic and establishing all power in the central state apparatus.

I’ll see your Hitler and raise you two Marxists.

    Popcorn anyone?

    1. There is no Democratic Ranch on this blog. You are in the wrong theater, ordering the wrong flavor of popcorn.

  15. Wolve

    MoonHowler :

Beg pardon, Ma’am, but I was referring not to this blog but to that actual theater of ill repute known technically as the Democrat debates but popularly, like an old TV show, as “Hillary Hates Bernie.”

Since old Bernie has largely held his tongue, Hillary has been skating in those debates. But wait until she has to face critics like Trump or Cruz. Her knickers will melt right on stage. Then she and her crew, ever claiming to be the champions of gender equality in all things, will yell: “Unfair! You are bullying a woman!” Rick Lazio redux.

If there is a shortage of my favorite popcorn, can I get some unshelled goober peas?

    1. You seem awfully worried about Hillary.

  16. Wolve

You think that Trump oath of allegiance is funny? I was sworn into the US Navy in the grease pit of a local service station — owned by the reserve unit commanding officer. It’s nice to be wanted.

    1. I don’t think it is funny at al. I think it is horribly frightening that he would ask and that there are enough stupid people out there doing it.

Surely you aren’t comparing a military swearing in with seig Heiling a political candidate. Have you ever testified in court?

  17. Kelly_3406

    @Pat.Herve

Sorry for the delay in answering–work actually has to take precedence sometimes.

I will answer you on the open thread. I don’t want to test the patience of our blog owner any further. She showed quite a lot of patience in lettong me kick Hillary in the shins a time or two (metaphorically of course).

    Yes.

You all are taking this whole Trump “pledge” thing waaaay too seriously. All these analogies to the late and unlamented Chancellor of the Third Reich are making me guffaw aloud.

Goodness, I seem to recall that this blog once had a technical deal on it in which the very mention of that Chancellor’s name sent a blogger into moderation or killed his avatar or something. That was back when the “other side” was comparing the pen and telephone penchant of the current POTUS with the modus operandi of Herr Hit….errr…the late and unlamented Chancellor of the Third Reich and his little square-jawed buddy from south of the Tyrol.

You all gotta stop this yelling before you give yourself a stroke.

Take a break and let your minds go elsewhere — like back to the Wolverine State, where Trump won on the Repub side and Bernie took it on the Dem side. Hoo, boy. Right or Left, there are a whole lot of my homeboys (and girls) pissed off at the Old Guard on both sides of the political spectrum. I could run out of popcorn and have to ask Cargo to send some by UPS.

    1. I don’t think I am taking anything about Trump too seriously. I believe that he has destroyed the Republican Party and that he will destroy the country if elected.

You are in luck. I feel confident that he will do something in the next day or so to trump the seig heil pledge. You are aware that many people had the same reaction to Trump’s recent behavior as I did?

I suppose I should be wondering why my comparison should be giving you so much heart burn. Would you be willing to stand there and take his pledge?

    funny — as in “bizarro”

  21. Wolve

    @MoonHowler

Heartburn? This election on both sides is funnier than a Moliere comedy. Why, just yesterday or so, the homeboy Michael Moore took a twitter slap at the Dems for what they have done to Flint, Michigan, over the many years they have had political control there. And my own old home county voted for Cruz on one side and Bernie on the other. Never seen the like of it before.

Often now, I give three knocks with a long pole before opening the curtain for the evening internet scanning. Not even Moliere could make this stuff up. I hear Jeb Bush is going to have secret meetings with all the other candidates except The Donald. Who is supposed to bring the big boiling cauldron and the stirring poles? I can already hear Anna Netrebko singing Lady Macbeth’s sleep walking aria.

And Hillary won Mississippi but lost Michigan. Does that make her some sort of Dixiecrat?

This thread is dropping “eyes” also — sort of like the Heartland voters dropping the GOP Establishment.
