I postponed this story as it was unraveling. It’s just wrong to show too much glee over someone getting their come-uppins. I always wondered about Gretchen. She’s a smart woman, Stanford grad and no one’s fool. So why did she perform like such a bimbo. Money? Perhaps. I never saw her solo show, just Fox and Friends in the morning. She absolutely was a bimbo.

Now other women have stepped forward, her case is even more validated. What will Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity have to say about all this? Will they stand by her or will they say she is flattering herself or that she “asked for it?”

O’Reilly himself has been accused of sexual harassment. He was sued. Very little is known about the outcome.

So where will Faux News go? Will it continue to be the bastion of ignorance that it always has been? Will it continue to attempt to bring down anyone moderate or liberal? Probably. Perhaps it would do a service and start presenting real conservative ideas rather than mind-sucking its listeners, including many seniors. Maybe it will stop becoming the tool of the GOP.

What do you think?

    Any woman on the morning show on Fox is treated as a bimbo.
    First of all, they dress (probably MUST) in dresses that barely cover
    the upper part of the leg and no-sleeve/deep cut neck lines. They must
    also cross their legs, so the thigs show.
    Have you ever seen “Outnumbered” at noon? Four women and one man.
    The women dressed like the morning “bimbo”. One leg slung over the other
    and they DO NOT change the leg position even once during the program.
    I swear – there must be somebody arranging their legs at the beginning of
    the program. Maybe Roger Aisles was the leg arranger. 🙂

    1. @punchak

      Too, too funny, Punchak!! No I have never seen that show.

    I think Britt Hume will take over. He essentially runs the news desk now. Not sure how much will change. Fox as a brand is solid amongst the demo it targets. If anything, I’ve heard more complaints of the network “softening”, than anything else. Not that I’d know. I quit watching all cable and broadcast TV 3 years ago. Hume is a professional journalist. If he takes over, I would suspect there to be minor changes, but another CNN or MSNBC the market doesn’t need.

    1. I don’t think his nose is clean in the womanizing dept. Seems to me there was a rumor about him and another journalist.

        @MoonHowler

        Wait…it’s OK for a serial womanizer to be President or “First Whatever” , but a career journalist is the subject of unsubstantiated gossip, and that us an issue for you?

      2. It wasn’t unsubstantiated. I simply wasn’t going to repeat the rumor that has been confirmed by at least one of the parties.
        It would seem to me that if Roger Ailes was involved with employees, that behavior would want to be avoided in the future.
        I am not saying Brett Hume was anything but involved with another employee.
        I don’t know his marital status. As far as I am concerned, he isn’t disqualified. I am just not sure he would pass muster now.

        As for serial womanizers, I can’t think of any that are running for office.

        @MoonHowler

        The rumor was Britt Hume was involved with Megyn Kelly, and Ailes told Kelly that she needed to end it, or she wouldn’t advance in the organization. The rumor was neither confirmed nor denied. It just went away.

        What this has to do with the current situation at FNC, I don’t know, nor do I care. I don’t watch it anymore. I don’t watch any news programs as they have universally failed in their responsibility to report, and have instead chosen to spin and influence. Same can per said of print media. One look at the leaked DNC emails will demonstrate massive collusion between the liberal media, and the DNC. I am sure the same thing happens between FNC and RNC.

        I refuse to consume propaganda. C-SPAN is about the only thing I’d watch, if I still watched cable or broadcast TV.

      4. I figured Megyn Kelly had had enough problems so I wasn’t going to name her.
        I care what happens to FN. It has sucked away the minds of too many people. I prefer people who don’t spew what has been spoon fed to them.

        There’s a serial adulterer who may be the first First-Mister in American history. I know he’s a sacred cow here, but come on. If Britt Hume won’t pass your smell-test because of rumored affair with a very attractive ambitious lawyer-turned-commentator/show host (I refuse to use the term journalist), can we at least be intellectually honest in our logs and specks discussion?

        I think FNC’s quality would improve, if Hume headed the network. Not sure if that will happen, and it still wouldn’t get me tuning in again.

      6. Actually, I didnt say that Britt Hume didn’t pass my smell test. I said he might be a problem taking over because of his past history. Who knows how far the law suits are going. Fox might want someone squeaky clean. I couldn’t care less about Megyn and him as long as their relationship was by mutual agreement. I was merely suggesting he might not be a shoe-in. If he is, I have nothing against him.

        As for serial adultery, I am not sure some of that “serial” isn’t also rumor. Then again, I don’t really care. I didn’t vote for him in the first place to be my spiritual advisor.

  3. Dump Trump

    I agree with Steve Thomas. I haven’t watched Fox in years, but if Murdoch rebuilds Fox centered around Britt Hume and Shepp Smith, they might be able to transition into a legitimate news channel. But they’d need to get rid of a lot of the crazies they bring on as guests.

    1. Shep Smith is a decent person.

    2. punchak

      @Dump Trump

      I adore Shepp! He´s sooo cute.
      Britt seems like a level headed guy.

  4. I’ve heard that Steve Doocy was one of her major complaints, but up to Ailes stepping down/dismissal, I’ve not heard anything else about her former co-host. As someone who watches the program at work all of the time, I’m a bit surprised it wasn’t Brian Kilmeade.

    http://www.businessinsider.com/gretchen-carlson-fired-from-fox-news-channel-amid-allegations-of-sexual-harassment-2016-7

    Her farewell didn’t appear too forced though.

    https://youtu.be/02K7pXECCXU

    1. Apparently she fakes not being fired very well.

    2. Steve Doocie is just a snarky little bitch. His son seems like a decent young man. I hope he doesn’t use his father as a role model.

    3. punchak

      @Joe George

      You watch TV at work – all the time?
      Can’t help but wonder what kind of work you do?

  5. Scout

    I have very modest hopes for this transition. I’m just hoping that Mr. Ailes’s departure means that we no longer have to hear that monumentally stupid phrase, “homicide bombers.” I may be unfair to attribute that to the guy at the top, but they all started saying it at about the same time, so I assume a memo went ’round. Absolutely idiotic and soon the whole lemming squad was doing it.

    1. “Homicide bombers” really is a stupid, redundant expression.

  6. Scout

    I think I see the retired teacher in you slipping out, Moon. The phrase removed meaning, and didn’t add any. I’m not sure they’re still doing it. This was a grating, fingernails-on-blackboard feature of Fox for a long time. But it reflected the absolute inanity of a kind of political correctness that had no place in any medium purporting to convey news.

    1. @Scout

      No argument here. I am afraid the I have a whole bunch of “grate on your nerves” expressions I hate.

      I confess to slippage every now and again.

  7. Scout

    Samantha Bee’s line on this was so absolutely superb (and unprintable at a family site like this), that I think all further conversation has to stop on that note.

    1. Family site? I guess I had better clean up my act then.

      Please leave a link.

    2. Scout is right. I probably wouldn’t have put the video up. It’s rough. It’s absolutely hilarious and I agree totally. A link is the next best thing!
