RIP, Kenny Diaz #43

Washingtonpost.com:

A Woodbridge High School football player was fatally stabbed Saturday at a Prince William County park, an incident that has left his friends and teammates struggling for answers and mourning the death of the 18-year-old linebacker.

Police said Sunday that they are investigating the killing of Kenny Joseph Diaz, who was stabbed in the stomach at Marumsco Acre Lake Park, east of Interstate 95 near the Occoquan Bay in Woodbridge. Officers responded at 3:15 p.m., police said, and Diaz was taken to a hospital, where he died.

In a news release, police said the stabbing “does not appear to be random,” indicating that Diaz might have known his attacker or attackers. Prince William County police asked for the public’s help in providing information about the attack, the fourth homicide this year in the large suburban county.

Diaz’s death shook the Woodbridge High School community over the weekend.

Woodbridge High School was on a real high after their victory over Stonewall Jackson High School on Friday night.  The joy and celebration turned to horror as word spread of Kenny’s death  Saturday afternoon.   How does anyone make any sense of this tragic murder?

Gang Members Indicted for Murder of Mickey Hernandez

From News and Messenger:

A grand jury in Prince William Circuit Court has indicted a Fairfax teen on a murder charge for the November stabbing death of 15-year-old Miguel “Mickey” Hernandez in Manassas.

Boris Alfred Juarez Ascencio, 18, of Blake Lane in Fairfax, is charged with first-degree murder for the Nov. 19 stabbing.

According to court documents, Juarez, who was 17 at the time of the incident, has been certified to stand trial as an adult.

In court documents, witnesses said that Juarez stabbed Hernandez several times as he walked home from school on Bartow Street.

Another teen, 18-year-old Mauricio Martinez of Manassas, has also been charged in Hernandez’s death.

According to testimony at a preliminary hearing, Martinez and Juarez were both members of the criminal street gang of Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13.

Witnesses said Martinez identified Hernandez as a member of a rival gang and then Juarez stabbed him, according to police and prosecutors.

Police and Hernandez’s family members have said he was not affiliated with a gang.

KKK Killings Live on in America

From Yahoo News:

COVINGTON, La. – A Louisiana man accused of helping his father hide the body of a Ku Klux Klan recruit pleaded guilty Thursday to obstruction of justice and was sentenced to three years in prison, according to a prosecutor’s spokesman.

Prosecutors believe Shane Foster, 21, also helped his father clean the camp site in rural St. Tammany Parish in southeastern Louisiana where Cynthia Lynch, 43, was shot to death in November 2008, district attorney’s office spokesman Rick Wood said.

Foster’s father, Raymond Foster, 45, is set for trial April 5 on a second-degree murder charge.

What on earth?  What year is this?  Cynthia Lynch, 43, was shot to death in November of 2008.  Her crime?  She was trying to leave an initiation ritual and head for home.  She had hooked up with the Louisiana KKK group run by Raymond Foster via the Internet.  She was described as a troubled woman who was trying to fit in somewhere.  That probably fits the description of many people who are attracked to the KKK.  Just a group of misfits.

All too often groups like this are blown off.  Do-gooders try to tell us that the KKK is irrelevant nowadays and that any concerns about this organizaton are  simply an over-reaction.  This killing doesn’t sound like an over-reaction to me.

Do these sentences sound a little on the lean side?  If you shoot someone to death, why is that second degree murder?  Another female, Danielle Jones, pleaded guilty to being an accessory.  She spent a year in jail.  Is Louisiana soft on crime or is it just soft on KKK krime?  How much a part of the south is the KKK in 2010?

Just in case anyone forgets who the Klan hates, here is a pretty good reminder.  🙄

Family Flees from Killer

An altercation in Irongate last Friday evening  turned deadly.  Bad Boy Deonte Donnell Robertson was at the home of Sergio Alfonzo, arguing with Sergio’s wife Candace, who is the ex-grilfriend of Alfonzo.  Sergio intervened, defending his wife, and now he is dead.   Robertson  has been charged with striking Alfonzo in the chest with a blunt object.  Alfonzo died at the hospital following the attack.

Now Deonte Donnell Robertson is on the run.  Inside Nova latest update reports that the family of Candice has moved her and her 2 children out of state to protect them from Deonte Donnell Robertson (who is the father of the children).   Was this Robertson’s first brush with the law?  You know better.

According to the Manassas News and Messenger:

Robertson’s court record in Prince William County Court is full of charges, including his most recent arrest on April 6. He was charged then with malicious assault in an incident that occurred March 15, court records state.

That case has been certified to a grand jury that next month will decide to indict Robertson on the charges.

Also on his record, he was charged last December with two counts of assault and two counts of obstructing justice while making forceful threats.
He was also charged last October with assaulting a police officer and in June 2007, again with obstructing justice.

Pardon me for asking the obvious question:  Why is this criminal not in jail?  What happens to people who assault cops?  Do they get a slap on the wrist?   What does it take?   This criminal should not have been running around loose.  He should not have had access to this family.  Why did this happen?   Does anyone know?
